I don't think it's appropriate to unequivocally condemn people for not fighting their teammates. I think people often forget the value of having good friends and training partners, and I dont think it has occurred to many people that Bones Jones and Fitch may not have been in the position to contend for titles without assistance from guys like Evans and Koscheck, and vice versa.
If preparation is the most important part of the sport, why would you suddenly change your camp in order to fight a partner? If the cost of creating a top contender involves not being able to see them fight a couple other top contenders, it doesnt seem like too high of a price.
Plus, do we really want friends and training partners to fight each other? Is it possible for 2 training partners to give 100% in a fight against each other? If the answer is no, why do we want to watch a fight where the participants are holding back?
