The Phoenix was first brought up back in Hellfire and Brimstone around issue 20. It was last refrenced in the first issue of the Cable arc where Nick Fury gave Xavier a bracelet to help contain Jean's powers just in case she ever lost control

Do we know whether this new guy is the new ongoing? Or is he just doing this two issue arc?

Raney did an arc some issues back, too. But Oliver was still the planned ongoing penciler.

lol do you think paquette had a movie casting choice for fury- that is so sam l jackson. i loved the bobby and rogue bits- the untouchables poster is a nice touch

The Ultimate Fure has always been based on Sam Jackson, looks-wise.

Probably smarter to make it an ultimate version of another X-team. Ultimate X-Factor, Ultimate X-Force, or such. I'd say X-Factor is the most likely since Emma already has slight connections to the government, and X-Factor is most recognized in the past as a government sponsored team.

Brilliant. And maybe they can work on getting Madrox to switch sides. He would be the only addition to Emma's school I'd make right away. I like Emma's school just the way it is right now(though it needs more females). Wonder what Angel's gonna do there now that Charles is gone?

The cocnlusion of Cable arc was as crappy as it gets - both writing and art. I'm seriously considering dropping Ultimate X-Men - it's been going down the hill since Kirkman took over and it's hit rock bottom (or looking at the trend of the level of his writing, Kirkman will start to dig in deeper now - I'll pass).

The art hasn't been that bad to. At least in issue 78.

I have to agree. I haven't been "happy" with Ult X-men for a while. The whole Cable thing, to me just SUX.
Funny thing is, I told Marvel I wasn't going to renew my sub. Last month I had 1 month remaining according to the mailer. This month I suddenly have 2 months remaining... hmmmm wonder how long they will keep that up?

They didn't even bother to explain the whole Cable/ Wolverine deal!

Please say it aint so! Samuel Jackson as Fury? I know it looks like him in U-X, but I have always thought Bruce Willis or Tommy Lee Jones would be so much better in that part if it came to be a movie. Fury is so the Clint Eastwood type, they really need to rethink it. Like the last guy that did that roll was David Hasslehoff, he nailed the part for me (looks wise), but the movie itself was really cheesy/corny to begin with. Maybe that was why DH got the part in the first place LOL!

There was a scene in the Ultimates first run where they all sat around teasing each other who would play them in a movie and they all said Samuel Jackson for Fury. I think the likeness was planned from the start.

I remember a issue of X-treme (I think it was xtreme) where Storm said something about Halle Berry. Can't recall though. Sort of like that senario ^.
