It's always like this when creative teams shift. Folks get off kilter. I've been reading enough X-men to be used to it, if not pleased. I wish there was a guy who's sole job was to keep the writers on track of past continituy to keep this sort of thing from happening.

RE: Mike's and stars's posts.

I <3 stars. You hit it on its head. Kurt's introduction was a desperate, high-profile move... and afterwards, he was never written as crazy. On the contrary, as you pointed out, he was characterized as not being such. You also brought up a point of mine that Mike never bothered to touch upon, which is Kurt not being found out by Xavier/Jean until Kirkman deemed it necessary. Square peg, round hole.

I'll stand by my opinion that Kurt being homophobic is bad and unnecessary characterization. Mike, if you're so confident that it's hinting at Kurt being crazy because of Weapon X, please explain it to me. I'm perfectly fine with it being a difference of opinion so far as whether it's good or bad characterization, but when you say it's evidence of him being crazy - which essentially implies a general statement that anyone who is homophobic is then batcrap nuts and will steal a girl and decide he wants to beat his friends up - I'm confused and wonder if we're both talking about the same definition of "characterization."

This last issue would be perfect for Kirkbutt's last one. A different writer could take all the stuff that went down and tell some really cool stories.

Finally read this issue last night...really enjoyed it!

Loved this version of Pyro- it makes sense that he's all burned and scarred because I highly doubt he was ready when his powers first turned on :csad:

Bishop visiting himself was cool. Bishop as a potential new leader? Cool as well. Still, I don't like that everyone automatically looks to him as a new source of wisdom. They really don't know much about him and trusted him way too quickly. The X-Men seem to be doing that a lot lately considering they just welcomed someone from the Hellfire Club with open arms! :cmad:

I knew Xavier hadn't really died, no surprises there.

^Xavier left it in his will in case he died or something??? Best I could come up with *Shrugs*

Heh, not what I mean. They're not qualified teachers. You can't just wake up one morning and teach children. Scott's the oldest at 20 or 21 years old. WTH does he know about education?

1. They'd never be recognized as a legal school w/o certification.

2. No parent is gonna send their child to a school being run by people not even old enough to buy a beer lol.

PS. Beast may have been the only one capable of teaching....and his coming back. Hmmm.

Oh THATS what you meant. *Shrugs again* I'm glad the next issue comes out the 11th of next month...now I don't have to wait forever.

Millar didn't write Kurt as crazy at all.
No he didn't....He introduced his as a project of Weapon X and Wolverine in the annual presented what exactly Kurt was going through.....he saved colonel wraith from the Helicopter to prevent storm from becoming a "monster".....something he knew quite well.........Rogue reaction after reading his mind elaborates on that....and him crying when rogue leaves does show theme's of what Millar introduced..........Kurt is not crazy at all....he knows what he did at weapon X and puts on act for people to like him.....he just wanted Dazzler......and the way he acted on what he wanted wasn't the best way....
I can't fit that behavior in with the guy in the second annual and afterwards. I could buy the homophobia, even like it as a plot point, but the full-out "monster" thing? Which he somehow managed to keep from the world's greatest telepath and his protege all this time? It's a square peg in a round hole.
I can.......Its the same behavior Juggernaut had in the 2005 annual.....not exactly the same...Juggernaut use to share a cell with rogue and developed an overwhelming crush on her in Weapon X...much like how Nightcrawler developed his crush on Dazzler, at his stay at the institute.....both acted on their feeling rather violently fighting off who ever came between them...I think that the crush feeds of their emotion and makes them act erratically.......the Monster Theme is explained......Rogue sees it but Nightcrawler doesn't want to be seen that way......After the annual he is considered a monster after what he did.....and that Institute isn't the right place for him to be............

Xavier/Jean didn't know cause they are preoccupied with other things??.......I don't think X and Jean randomly mind probe the students at the institute every single day......Wolverine was able to keep his intention of killing Xavier in the first arc away from Xavier even though Xavier can easily read his mind(issue # 7 he was talking inside wolverine head).......so this kind of inconsistencies happen...and I can point out many more.....El Bastardo this is my explanation......and its works perfectly fine for me and isn't "Mediocre Writing".......and Kirkman isn't quite finished yet

so...how long till beast is back now?

I really liked #80. The cut down the team, and they reeeeally needed to do that, and now its a fresh start. Love it. Soon we will have the return of Beast and as my friend pointed out to me: The Goverment faked his death from the beginning and now hes been working on the lagacyvirus for the goverment.

I flipped through #80 while at the store, a quick skim to get the idea of what went on rather than reading it all the way through. With the good reviews coming in, maybe I'll take a longer look next week. But from the reviews here I've been reading, I think I'll say that I'm somewhere in the middle - it doesn't sound like every bit of it is the greatest, but it's probably safe to say it's a vast improvement from the crap he's written in previous issues. Worth a look!

What is up with Colossus? He seems so odd under Kirkman. Every other sentence is him saying "I'm Russian".:(

BKV should come back. I know it'll never ever happen but...:csad:

wow I cant beleive it but thats 2 issues in a row of Ult-X-men that I've actually thought was fairly decent. It wasnt too bad and didnt bore the crap out of me. Dare I say I enjoyed it?

One thing though is that Jean said first they lost Colossus and now Logan, but thats not right bc she forgot that Kitty left as well, just before Colossus did

I'm starting to like this book again, but the art was odd in this. I'm not liking how this artist draws Bobby, with the two weird locks of hair from the side of his hat. Also, Jean and Storm's boobs seemed to grow disproportionatly throughout the issue. Storm looked like she had two different cup sizes at once in one panel.

Haha their breasts change size like every issue.

I like Paquette's Nightcrawler the best. His art seems to 'fit' that character.

Hard to say if I like any drawer in UXM, I still like the old X-Men style, like Jim Lee one, I even like those spandex, even though they would look hilarious in real life.
