ALLAN HEINBERG AND OLIVIER COIPEL PLAY IN THE X-SANDBOX!

If the fallout from "Second Coming" wasn't enough to make you buy UNCANNY X-MEN #526, then how about a bonus story by two of the best talents in the industry? Allan Heinberg may be the busiest man in the world, splitting his time between television ("Grey's Anatomy") and comics (AVENGERS: CHILDREN'S CRUSADE, YOUNG AVENGERS) but he couldn't pass up an opportunity to write Cyclops, Magneto and Wolverine.

What does Magneto learn that sends him down a path that the rest of the world would rather he just stay away? And what does it mean to his relationship with the X-Men? Oh, and did we mention that the artist of Marvel's SIEGE event was drawing it? OLIVIER COIPEL's first sequential work since illustrating the Sentry's death and the new formation of the Avengers is in UNCANNY #526.

DON'T MISS IT!

Hot on the heels of SECOND COMING, see how the X-Men fit into the Marvel Universe as a whole. Three stories by Matt Fraction and artists Whilce Portacio (UNCANNY X-MEN), Jamie McKelvie (SIEGE: LOKI) and Steven Sanders (S.W.O.R.D.) taking you all around the Marvel Universe!

Scott! Makes me forgot the fact that I just strained my back~:atp:

I like him on and off. Right now he needs to get what's coming to him.

First of all those Generation photos are kinda cool...freaky old dudes though...are new mutants?

I used to dislike Cyclops....but I kinda like him now. He is doing what has to be done, you know? Who else has stepped up? Certanly not Beat...he is high tailing it out of there. Logan could...but truly leading is not his thing. Scott is the choice.

So what? Cyke gets bored and then hunts dinos for kicks? Does he even take trophies or does he leave their bodies to rot? Not very PC or anything.. and here I thought the X-men were supposed to be ecology minded.... But I did like the whole business with Hank. Beast is a fave. :)

Beast is a *****..cat. Cyclops is doing what needs to be done. Leaders LEAD. Beast has NEVER been a leader. he is good as a voice of reason, of conscious..to reign ish in...but he cannot make the hard choices. Dark Best could...not the real McCoy tho

Scott needs to lead, and Hank has to be the one to tell him when he's going too far. Problem is, Scott wasn't confiding in Hank a damn thing. It's difficult to be the voice of reason when your leader won't turn to you for advice. While Scott was running X-Force and Emma was meeting with Osborn, Hank was left behind. He had to figure out their secret arrangements for himself, bring them to one another's attention, and then show his disapproval. The lack of trust that anybody showed in him is part of the reason he walked away.

Also, I'll be the first to admit that he got kinda pissy about being tortured by Dark Beast. When Hank got rescued, he kept turning to people like Scott and Bobby for comfort, but nobody had the time, so he ran away to the arms of his green-haired ho.

Can someone please save Emma? Ever since Fraction took over as the primary writer for she and Scott, she's been written consistently bad. She's so bland with ZERO personality, spark or fire in her. Its not even funny how boring she's become. She is nothing more than Scott's trophy blonde, the hot piece that makes him look good. I dont like them together but even under Morrison and Whedon, she thrived as her own character. Everything that set her apart and made her compellnig has dwindled. I cant think of one thing thats interesting about Emma these days. She's completely supportive and submissive to her man. She used to be more of a leader, standing ahead of him, if not next to him,but she's written beneath him. Marvel doesnt seem all that enthralled with her as they were a few years ago as her exposure has decreased (thats a good thing) but unfortunately its mianly relegted to UXM where she gets pretty awful characterization.

I read the Heroic Age one-shot.

I'm still not a fan of the artist who thinks Hank should look like a horse instead of a cat.

It was interesting to see Steve Rogers track down Scott and tell him to turn the X-Men into regular superheroes. I mean, the X-Men got praise from all corners. Presidential medals, celebrations in the streets of San Francisco, fireworks, etc.

I liked Hope's little story where she met Franklin Richards. I guess he's technically 5 years younger than her, but they really connected on that whole "everybody expects you to do something" thing. It didn't make me like Hope any more, but I loved the way Franklin reached out to her like that. Also, it looks like Hope's going on a personal mission to find out who her birth parents were.

What are you on about, Havok, Emma's still as strikingly independent as she was back when Astonishing X-Men actually mattered. The woman just sided with Norman Osborn, successfully managed to get Namor, a major power player to hang around the X-Men and more.

Emma is hardly written the same way here as she was in Astonishing Xmen. She's gone way too soft and lacks the feisty (or much) of a personality for that matter. She wasnt completely indepdent with the Dark Xmen stuff; Scott helped orchestrate that. The Confession was a horrible issue for her. In Necrosha, instead of having her actually do something, she spends several issues on the floor, an emotional mess. She really doesnt do much these days except stand back and support him. She's written more as a trophy; arm candy for him. She comes across as nasueatingly sweet in the relationship and not as consistent as she's been recently portrayed

Thing is, Emma was still a sweet supportive girlfriend around Scott during Astonishing. Most of her attitude in those days came from a few off-hand jokes about killing Kavita or Abigail, and her interaction with Kitty.

Basically, we need Kitty to get fixed up so she can get in Emma's face again.

Speaking of which has any telepath at least tried to talk to her via telepathy?

Not that we've seen. Of course, nobody's really done anything with Kitty since she came back. Her return was a one-issue "let me get this out of the way before the crossover starts" story that Fraction just threw out there and won't be addressed again for a long time. You know, like when the X-Club went back in time an issue before Utopia started.

Actually, I remember once of the interviews recently said that one of the issues during the Five Lights arc will have Emma and Kitty interacting, and likely leading to her getting fixed up.

I wonder if the big yellow robot thing the blood sample is under in SF will move now that Hope has come???

They say that the Sleeping Celestial will awaken when the world ends, so let's hope not.
