They're joining Generation Hope

and booo to your Portactio hate...j/k. I dont get it bc I love the guy. One of the best X-men artist in the franchises history. While his current work isnt as great as his early 90s material, he is still good and IMO, MUCH better than Dodson and Land whom he replaced. Im glad he's on bc I can finally read the book and actually enjoy what Im looking at. I havent done so since Choi was the guest artist a couple of years ago. I might even be able to look past some of Fraction's subpar writing with Portacio on board

....yeah i wont go that far ( i like my eyeballs urine-free) but i was happier when Dodson was drawing the book. i was hoping theyd grab Dustin Weaver (from the X-Nation covers) and put him on this book or sign Choi to draw Uncanny...forever.

I hope they address the fact that Namor & Emma's alliance is partially based on the fact that Namor believes Shaw is dead.

Does he still think that? Shaw isnt in a special cell. He's in the Brig along with the other prisoners. I thought it was public knowledge on Utopia who was in there

Speaking of which, I never understood why Shaw was even captured by Emma, nor how do they (the Xmen) figure they have the authority to just contain him against his will like that. Thats technically kidnapping and I dont recall him actually acting against them to provoke that

we havent seen Namor enter the brig so im pretty sure hes unaware hes there. and we dont know if anybody is aware of their personal prison besides Danger (although nobody was surprised to see Donald Pierce in the hangar...). and if so Emma could just as easily put up another illusion and fool him like she originally did. but yeah that is absolutely kidnapping. i guess since Scott was cool with having his own secret hit squad at the time, he wouldnt blink an eye to his girlfriend taking one of their enemies hostage. its all in the name of survival.

Picked up 526 and just read it. Portacios art is fantastic and I think hes much better now than he was back in the day (and he was pretty awesome back then).

As for the writing, how the hell can marvel keep fraction on this book? It was so damn hard to read and nothing made a lick of sense. I live in Canada and we don't take SAT's here...wtf Fraction its called research!!!

No idea why she reacted that way to her parents being dead as she already knew about it in the Heroic Age one shot a few weeks back (that Fraction also wrote).

Fraction will likely stay on this title as long as it keeps selling well, and as long as he wants to stay. He's currently a big name at Marvel.

And Brian K. Vaughan, he is not. There's a man who knows how to research. He wouldn't do something like, I don't know... have the San Francisco police invade a warehouse in Oakland as though they were the same city.

It's not really selling well considered it to other runs though is it?. If i wrote Uncanny it would still sell well because it's the flagship title and has been so for years

I understand Fractions "big" at the moment because of his Iron Man and Thor series, but in my eyes he's destroying Uncanny, a misharacterised unreadable mess

But that doesn't change anything. When you're writing a best selling comic like Uncanny X-Men, there's only a few ways to go. Fraction could do so poorly on this title that sales tank (not likely), get bored/frustrated and leave, or conflict with the editors until they fire him. Writing characters badly isn't an excuse to fire your writer when he's still making money for you.

Believe me i want Fraction to be better on Uncanny.

I found out that his run is one of the longest in history of Uncanny, seriously it's been very meh.

Surley at some point the readers are just going to give up on it. It's the fact that his run influences all the other X books and it's tainting them in my opinion. Fraction either didn't read the x-men or didn't care about them as he only really writes Cyclops, and has brought in many characters that he does know such as Namor, Madison Jefferies, Nemesis, Kavita Rao, Emma Frost (totall mischaracterised) and created a new character to head the X-books Hope. All whilst all of the other X team members fade into the background and if we're lucky they say 2 lines.

In fairness, I love the way he writes Dr. Nemesis. He's my favorite new character who's technically not new at all.


My problem with his use of characters lies with the editorial decision that all writers can use whichever characters they want. If Fraction only wanted to use Scott, Emma, Namor, Madison, Bradley, Hope, and Magneto, I wouldn't have a problem with it under the old squad system. However, every writer wants to use Scott, Emma, Madison, Bradley, and Magneto. It feels like the same characters are popping up in every book because no writer is being forced to choose a less popular character like Iceman or Husk. So my problem there isn't with Fraction, but with everyone except Zeb Wells.

I thought it was kinda obvious that Hope somehow stabilized the manifestation of the girl's mutation and let if fully come out.

Im not sure I buy it. They found her family WAY too fast. MC was 4 years ago and they had nothing but once they start looking, they find out who her mother is within the first few pages? I dont know why or how but I think those records were altered. It just seemed too easy
