The only speedster I really want to see on the team is Quicksilver. Its about time he joined the X-men

I totally agree with you !! But he is now busy with the mighty avengers line up

that doesnt seem to have much of an effect on Wolverine in New Avengers/X-force, Storm in Black Panther, Angel in X-force, Karma in New Mutants, etc...

I'd love to see Quicksilver on the X-Men. Firestar, too.
Firestar would have been good in Astonishing as a replacement for Kitty. She has heated history with Emma that would have been great to have seen played off in an ongoing. Firestar went into retirement bc she didnt want to register with the SRA, but she's a mutant and can claim asylum with the X-men. That would be one way to get her active again.

Even if Quicksilver cant be a full time X-men, it would be great to have him over in Uncanny especially with Magneto returning soon. I always thought he added to X-men stories via his father

Well, Firestar actually is kinda active right now in the Marvel Divas mini. However, it is posing a bit of a problem that might stop her from appearing in the X-Men:

Apparently, her powers have given her cancer. They're microwave based, and she apparently doesn't have a full built in immunity to her own powers that most other mutants have, and now she has cancer because of it. Though, it could maybe lead her to the X-Men to try and help after Divas is over, but ya never know.

That would just be doing the whole Emma - Kitty over again, only with a different Kitty. The current Emma - Storm pairing is also somewhat similar of course, but Storm is not a teenage girl so her and Emma are on more equal footing. And Ellis has not really played up their supposed rivalry so far.

One word: Elixir.

Shh, if Marvel realizes how many characters whose problems he could simply wave away they would have to kill him off. I mean, what if Spider-Man had gone to him before Mephisto showed up?

I wish Ellis's Astonishing came off as good as his Thunderbolts was.

i dont think his writing was the problem (though i didnt read the Ghost Box mini), its just that it took forever to finish the first arc. Whedon had the same problem but it didnt start until 'Dangerous' and he's a better character writer so i was able to forgive him more.

I agree. Thankfully Bianchi kept to his word and said if he couldn't stick to schedule, he'd step down.

I dont get why Marvel never just had a rotating artist team on this book. That beats not putting it out at all for months at times. Its done wonders for X-force.

X-Force does it. Young X-Men did it until it was canned. X-Factor's been dividing art work in each issue based on scenery. Uncanny does it, though the artists they chose have incredibly different styles.

Astonishing X-Men? One incredibly slow artist every. single. time.

my artist rotations:

Uncanny X-Men - Terry & Rachel Dodson, Andrea Divito
X-Men Legacy - Paco Medina, Carlos Pacheco
Astonishing X-Men - Phil Jimenez, David Finch
X-Force - Mike Choi & Sonia Oback, Steve Epting

i think each of these teams compliment each other so when they switch its an easy transition. and each book will have its own look to it compared to the others.

I'm not a fan of David Finch. He over-renders his pencils, if that makes sense.

Finch is starting to follow in the footsteps of Larocca and Bachalo in that his earlier material used to be erally great but he's now gotten worse over time. His work on New Avengers was one of the best at its time of release but he's been slipping. His art still looks good but its not what it used to be

Finch's work in Ultimatum was a little depressing. I think once an artist gets a little tenure with Marvel, they start to phone it in a little. In Larroca's case, however, I'd say he's just experimenting with his style. His characters look totally different every time he pops up. Finch and Bachalo, however, are clearly drawing in the same style, but not trying as hard (or in Finch's case, maybe trying too hard).

The only truly good work I've seen David Finch do was on Bendis's "New Mutants" Ultimate X-Men arc, and I suspect that had more to do with Bendis's script and writing (which, at the time, was not as tired as it now is) than Finch's own work.

I like Finch's style, but he's trapped in the old Image style. Sometimes it works. With most conventional, modern comics storytelling, it doesn't. Tony Daniel's trapped, too, but he's cleaner. Silvestri has gone beyond it, though he and Finch have very similar styles (where, I suppose, the appeal comes from for me). But Finch is a bad storyteller, through and through.

Still better than Greg Land, though!

You know what gets me about Land? I've seen some of his old un-traced artwork, and he wasn't bad. I don't understand why he does what he does now. It's so distracting.

Well, Land ignores what facial expressions characters are supposed to have under any circumstances, other artists at least make an effort to comprehend the circumstances their characters are in.

I wonder if cyke is going to have he's on mutant Cabal

Cyclops
Namor
Magneto
Emma
???????
???????

Thought he was more likely to assemble a real mutant police team once this Osborn problem was gone.

There are enough secrets going on to throw in more imo.
