Mysterio would be cool. He could at some point find out Spidey's secret identity by making him think he's like, with someone who already knows (like MJ) and make him confess... or something like that. That idea could be improved.

Introduce Kraven as the initial villain.

Then throw in the lizard and have him wreak havoc.

Then let Spidey recruit Kraven to help take the Lizard down, since he's a hunter and all.

BUT - since he's essentially a bad guy let him turn on Spidey in the end for a big final fight with both Kraven and Lizard.

I agree that a Lizard/Kraven movie would rock! But if they have Electro, Vulture, Black Cat, or any number of Spidey's foes. He's got a wealth of quality villains to face as long as they do it right. Thank god they squashed the Morbius rumours, there is so many better villains to get through before the use him.

Kraven's last hunt adaptation with Lizard replacing Vermin. It be gold.

That's what I think most fans are clamoring for. Of course they are going to have to make some changes as that story is exceptionally dark.

In all my days, I always thought I would never see my all time favorite Spidey story as a film, so if this is what's coming, I'll be floored.

I'd like to see Mysterio...cuz there could be so many things he could do and hed be a very tricky villian and if he brings back illusions of green goblin or venom itd make it even more awesome...

I'd love to see Mysterio at some point in the franchise. If they do away with the fishbowl head though, i'm done.

Well seriously, my most wanted villain is Electro.
And I'm somehow feeling that Electro indeed will be in Spiderman 4.

Here is a little statement from from Todd Black Sony Producer "We're just coming up with who the villain's going to be now. We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York."

well i think since he says a big part of New York it will probably be Electro because we all know that if he is in there the fight will take place in Times Square and that is a huge part of New York.

I can see why you would say that; but imo, that statement has Lizard all over it....

A big part of N.Y.

Foreign villains are rulled out?

....and what comes with Lizard? Kraven!

Look, NY is known for many things; but I think what the producer is referring to is the New York "Subways & Sewers". That's what fans would be appreciative of. All the "Urban Legends" of the "Alligator in the Sewers". A smaller version of "Godzilla or Cloverfield" in New York.

New York, the "Concrete Jungle" is also well know for got "Hunts" or in other words "Tracking Down" Stealthy Criminals. Detective story, clues, leads, NYC....

Lizard is written all over his statement, and what come with Lizard comes a great tracker. Looks like we got what most have been asking for. ;)

I don't get people's attraction with Kraven. One, he's going to have a thick Russian accent. Two, he looks like a normal person with hunting toys adding to the fuel Batman can beat Spider-Man. Three, I foresee the facial hair will be a joke. Four, his costume will be hideous. Five, the jungle theme would grate in my head.

Although I can see someone inside the series who can be Kraven: the Landlord.

For me, it's the attraction of something different. He's not someone who gained superpowers through a scientific accident, there's no sympathy there and there's no chance for redemption. He's rotten to the core.

Who's to say he'll be wearing the costume he wears in the comics? Anything made of animal skin will do. What's wrong with having a Russian accent? Rourke's going to have one for Iron Man II - is that a negative? Hell, he's going to be speaking Russian for a lot of the film.

I don't think it's a jungle theme (though, in saying that, adding some "jungle" influences to the scorewould be awesome), it's just two characters whose stories work together extremely well and provide something very different to what we've seen before.

Here are the villains I would really like to see

Lizard: Absolutely needs to be in this one. Connors has been seen or at least mentioned in all three movies now. It's time. They can have some horror elements with him. Raimi can take that character and show the transformation between normal and loving father and husband, Connors and then how he is transformed into this creature...this Lizard. Almost the gothic take of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Electro: A very powerful villain. He can make a challenge for Spider-man by making it so that if he touches him he gets shocked. Spidey would have to use his brain in order to defeat him.

Scorpion: Excluding Venom, he is a good opposite for Spidey. The same abilities, but bigger. The scorpion is the spider's rival in the animal kingdom after all. Plus it would probably mean more screentime for JJJ.

Mysterio: Would be very interesting with all of the allusions, but he shouldn't be the only villain. He's not much of a physical threat. That is why in a two-villain system, you make him the psychological one.

Vulture: Would make some pretty nice battles in the sky.

Villains I'm not really interested in

Kraven: He was always a meh villain to me. Don't really see what's so special about him, but I wouldn't complain if he's announced.

Chameleon: He's just a poor man's Mystique.

Rhino and Shocker: Neither of these guys can carry their own movie.

Hobgoblin: No more goblins. Let's move on to new stories please.

Carnage: I really don't understand why people want him so bad. He's a one-note character who just kills people for fun. That's it. There's no more to the character than that. He randomly kills people for fun and there's no explanation on why. Plus he's too R-rated for this series and people actually want a PG-13 Carnage? Also the symbiote obsessed fans thought Raimi screwed up Venom, what makes them think Carnage is gonna get treated any better?

Morbius: Don't need the series to go vampiremania on us. Save him for a Blade reboot.

The Sinister Six: Six villains would be way overkill. It's great for the cartoons but in a movie it will be a cornball fest. Not to mention it would cost way too much money to do the special effects of each villain.

I think what people need to think about when talking about having two villains is what sort of story can you come up with for them both.

You want to avoid scenarios like Spider-man 3 where Venom and Sandman have nothing in common, and teamup simply to take down Spider-man. I think that's half the appeal of Kraven because he slips so easily into the story and creates a dynamic I don't think I've ever seen in a movie. Since Raimi likes his sympathetic villains - it puts The Lizard in an even more sympathetic light because he's a villain, fighting a villain.

I don't think there's any other villain which fits so well with The Lizard, whom I think everyone wants to see in this movie.

The thing with Carnage is that it would be different for a Spidey villain to just kill for the joy of killing. There is nothing wrong with that I don't think, i'm getting sick of all these villains being sympathetic.

Unfortunately Spider-man is directed by a guy who doesn't know that much about the symbiotes and such. Like a poster said a few posts up, Sam didn't handle Venom that well, why would he do a much more vicious character any better?

I think the key to Spider-man is.. it needs to be a priority to make Spidey and subsequently Peter cool again. I like the idea of having villains that will challenge Spiderman and Peter, whether it be a villain that Spiderman cant physically abuse like Electro, or who ever it be, someone that will make the movie more than a brawl.

Yes Sam butchered Venom guys, but he also butchered Sandman. Why can't we just have a villan that's just a plain old 'bad person', instead of making him what we got with Sandman in S3; this guy that's misundertood and really has good motivations for why he is the way he is? They really f'ed up the Uncle Ben killing making Sandman part of it, imo. It was fine, as it was.

If Sam butchered Sandman, it was in the editing suite alone. All the stuff he cut with Sandman's daughter was ridiculous.

Raimi should have stuck to his first plot (and should have cut Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer) and everything would have been OK. I thought the plot he developed for Sandman was awesome and I liked the idea of bringing Vulture in. Raimi didn't develop Vulture beyond him being a guy who Sandman was in prison with. He was just a bad guy who broke out of jail, threatened Sandman and was in the final battle.

It was a stupid idea putting Venom in the third movie at all. They could have done the third movie with Sandman and Vulture, the fourth with Lizard and Kraven and a fifth with Carnage and Venom.

Guys... I couldn't agree more. That's the point I have been making as far as my distrust in Sam Raimi. That is his style. Every film he has made, not just the Spiderman films, but every film he has made follow that exact style. A well meaning person goes bad. That's what we are going to get with Lizard obviously, and it compliments his style. And probably the same with Kraven as a villain that turns ally.

I don't hate Raimi, after three films, I just think he's wrong for the franchise moving forward. He has yet, imo, to get the most basic characterization right, of major characters such as Peter, MJ, Gwen, Otto, Eddie, Flint, and supporting cast(oh I forgot, there is none)... regardless forced or not forced.

I sincerily hope he does well; but I hope this is his last one... and I think it will be.

Maybe they could have Kraven injecting himself with some kind of serum that will allow him to fight evenly with Spider-Man. Just a thought.

I don't think Morbius would work, personally. Although if they made him drink 'plasma' through his hands like in the 90's series, that MIGHT be cool. This past Spiderman was supposed to be the 'dark' one but they failed at pulling that off.

I wouldn't mind seeing the elements used from the 90s series season 2 'The Neogenic Nightmare Arc' where the spider biting Parker and transferring it's powers was just the beginning of Parker mutating into something non-human. I think it would be cool to see Pete with 6 arms, while trying to keep it a secret, battle a foe and cure himself with the help of Conners; who in turn could be dealing with his Lizard problem.

And as far as what i said before; most of the villains Spidey encounters are NY based. NY is a HUGE city. Not every villain has to be connected to Parker like Raimi felt the need to do with Sandman. There are a hell of a lot of ppl in NY, and not everyone comes into contact with Peter Parker.

Way

I think having Sandman in Spider-man 3 was a major mis-step. If you simply needed villains that are connected to Peter in some way, don't Harrry and Brock already accomplish that? Sandman's story and the way he teamed with Venom seemed very forced. And none of the villain's stories were allowed to be fleshed out, cept Harry..and that was only because of the previous films.
I don't hate that movie. Most of it I like. But with 3 villains, introduction of Gwen, her father, Peter dealing with the Black suit, his own demons and the deteriorating relationship with MJ....it was just too much. I just get frustrated because that movie could have been so good if they scaled it back a bit and focused on the important themes.
But, this isn't the Spider-man 3 thread. Why did you have to get me started? :cwink:

For 4, I do hope Raimi sees the potential for Lizard and Kraven. But I know he is a fan of particular story lines, so we might end up seeing Electro, Vulture and Black Cat or something like that. I think that would send us right back down the Spider-man 3 path.

As for all of the Carnage talk...Aren't they making a Venom film? I think they would be much better served by saving Carnage as the villain for that.

I'm not saying they should introduce too many characters at one time,
or even more than one, but
In Spectacular Spider-Man, the animated series, they introduced

Chameleon

Quentin Beck (Mysterio), Phineas Mason (Tinkerer)
vlcsnap-461417.png

and even introduce Black Cat

into the story and it worked seamlessly. Dark Knight did that as well, using Joker, and Harvey Dent. Its possible to use more than one villain per movie, IF done right.
Not even saying it should be these three, or four, either.

But I do want the Sinister Six in there, in the 6th movie.

Yeah, I want the Six in 6 too. I know they could do it if they really tried hard enough. and if they failed, who cares? It would be the last one, anyway.

I still can't figure out why on earth they couldn't have just went with Venom in the 3rd pic instead of adding Sandman. They already had set up Jamesons son in SM2 as an Astronaut, it would have been perfect for the symbiote to come back to earth aboard Col.Jamesons shuttle........

..speaking of which; Man-Wolf anyone?
