Alright, I know there are many many (many) fans who are down on Wolverine (hey, it's not Logan's fault for being so popular or the fact that Marvel tries to do everything they can to get cashola out of him) but, hey he is still my favorite hero and I have not seen an Origin's thread.....so.....

Bottom line is the Origins is not what it should be. Period. Way and Dillon have missed the mark big time.....but, again, if I miss an issue I would be wondering if I missed anything. So I am starting late in the game but here is some stuff on issue #9 of Origins:

Really liked the
Wolverine/Black Widow stuff. They finally got some back stuff right this time. Liked the whole training thing and the way it ended. Good stuff....finally.

Basically Wolverine and Black Widow go over why Logan is there, to get the Carbonadium Synthesizer, and Natalia locked it up in a safe-deposit box in Brussels.

Omega Red needs it because he is being poisend by the carbonadium and needs a fresh supply.

They do a flash back scene where a guy named Taras Romanov saves Logan and Natalia and takes Logan in and trains him to know what Taras knows about being a spy. Meanwhile Logan is training Natalia on the side because he feels bad for her. Her "dad" treats her like a possesion and not a daughter.

So Taras hears a noise, goes and tells Wolverine that Natalia is missing and Logan, well, shoots him. Natalia is in the woods and Logan tells her that his job was to learn all he could, then off Taras. Taras was not her biological father and Logan tells her he is sorry for lying to her. She thanks him (she wanted to get out of there) and tells him she owes him a great debt.

Black Widow told SHIELD that Logan is where Omega Red actually is and they attack him and they show Jubilee under some debries.

Logan pops up on the other building top and lifts up the fake Carb synt and Dum Dum Dugan and Omega Red stare him down.

So overall it was much better than the previous 8 issues and worth at least a look at.

Natalia? Don't you mean Natascha? Or is that not the Widow?

^That is what he calls her in this issue - yeah, it is the Black Widow. Good call.

Wow, people must really despise this title....

Did the writer of this story forget the Uncanny (268) issue that was done with Wolverine and Captain America where they rescue Natasha as a child? I am wondering where that is supposed to fit into all of this. I mean, Natasha had no memory of him on the train in this Origins issue. I find this confusing, as though a piece is missing.

I just scanned through that Uncanny issue real quick and it seems to me that the Natasha child in Origins is older than the one in Uncanny 268. She should have remembered him from Madripoor and yet somehow did not. *confused*

I think all of us are. I also was wondering how that fit in....I could see why he would not remember (implants and loss of memory and all) but she should have.

Exactly. Unless she was told not to say anything to him...? I dunno. I just thought the the writer should have been more careful so we wouldn't have these questions. How could anyone who had read that Uncanny issue forget it? It had Captain America in it. I have the cover of it on a T-shirt. :)

^Very cool! At the letters page of Origins they always show references....don't know how they missed that...unless its like you said and she was told not to say anything.

Issue number 10 show's Logan's son for the first time, but you can not see his face or features....and the kid only has two claws left on one hand, the other was broken (I guess).

So Logan lures SHIELD to come after him while Omega Red also wants what Logan's got. Omega Red makes short work of some of the SHIELD agents as Logan goes to find Jubilee. She is traped under some rubble and there is a nice sized piece of wood going right through her...not sure how she is breathing but she is, Logan bargins with SHIELD that if they can save her he will go with them without a fight. Dugan takes no chances and unloads a few rounds in the back of Logan's head.

Logan wakes up and he is trapped. Dugan tells the SHIELD agents it has been his call to capture Wolverine and for the rest of them to beat it. Well one last SHIELD agent comes out and
Dugan bites the big one. Logan's son stabs him and moves into the room where Logan is being kept.

Logan see's his son and a tear falls. His son tells him "they were right, you are weak" and guts him. He takes off but tells Wolverine that "well meet again, Dad". Logan's machine lets him go and he falls to the ground in a pool of his blood.

I just got this issue and I was sad it wasnt a lil kid but a grown up son as pictured on the cover. and what was with wolvy jrs. hairstyle? how did he manage to hide that in his helmet? hmmm I guess the same way Wolvy hides his hair underneath his masks...

My wording would be that it sucks big time and has been a huge letdown. And I'm no Wolvie hater. Honestly. Well, comicverse anyway.

Anyway, I'm not gonna start a flame war or anything. Just checking in for that one time if ya ever make a "Origins-hater" list thingy or something... :D

Still, you guys have fun in here.

^I might even have to sign up for that one.......

Really dissapointed in not really seeing Logan's son. They'll build it up to something else later I'm sure.:whatever:

This book, for lack of a better term, sucks. I bought issue one and felt used. Like a choir boy used.:csad:

"Hi, dad". Slash and cut. "Bye, Dad." Yup, that was worth the wait....

The only thing cool about this issue was the cover with his kid on it.

I wanna be apart of something kool.:(

This thread would probobly get more replies if there was anything about this series to discuss. Only takes about 4-5 minutes to read each issue becouse alot of the pages are basically blank. Compare the amount of content in an Origins book with the content in the regular series.

The series is also ridiculously slow, and nothing significant really ever happens. Ok, Logan has a son. Interesting but not suprising. This has been the only noteworthy revolation so far. Still not much to discuss.

I think its about time for Marvel to consider replacing Mr Way.

Very good points. Mr. Way should have been gone a while ago. They need some fresh blood....and not Logan's.

I'm no speed reader (well with comics) but I made it under that 4-5 mintues. I am definitely avoiding this title until the team behind it changes.

Atleast the regular series will be in good hands for the forseable future.

^That looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes.. Yes it does. For some reason "puny little man with claws" and "purple pants" are trying to kill eachother again this month in issue #50.

Ironically the regular series is revealing more about Logan's past than the Origins series. #50-55 is supposed to finnally reveal Wolverine and Sabretooth's history and might even be their last scrap.

There gonna go 5 rounds, 1 fight per issue. Storm, Black Panther, and "Antarctic Vibranium" will be involved. Simone Bianchi is the artist and in my opinion, his realistic style of artwork illustrates just how ridiculous Logan's Astonishing costume really is.

I really shouldn't bump this thread but I wanna say I'm Free!!! I dropping this waste of paper this piece of crap this this (insert obsenaty here).

If it picks up I'kll buy the trade. Finally I'm saving money.
