Comics Official X-FACTOR Discussion Thread

Even at Meh it's still better than most X-books. But whatever, I'm getting bored with Comicbooks anyway. At least from Marvel.

Oh, it is prob the best Marvel book right now. Sadly, that isn't saying much. I am really over all of the X-Men books (thought I am waiting to see what Legacy becomes bc I love Rogue).

The absence of X-Factor from Marvel's November solicitations has some fans wondering whether the double-sized 50th issue will be the title's last.

For their part, writer Peter David and the publisher are doing little to ease concerns about the book's fate.

One his blog, David confirmed there won't be an issue of X-Factor released in November, adding, "There’s really nothing to say, except that I assume Marvel will make some official announcement."

A Marvel spokesman had no comment this morning.

Relaunched in 2006 on the heels of a well-received Madrox miniseries, the somewhat noirish X-Factor centers on the detective agency established by Jamie Madrox and staffed primarily by characters from previous incarnations of the series (Strong Guy, Wolfsbane, Rictor and Siryn, among them).

Despite largely positive reviews and attention generated by plot developments like the recent kiss between Rictor and Shatterstar, X-Factor has had difficulty maintaining a foothold on the Diamond charts. While sales-tracker Paul O'Brien has chronicled a 47.4-percent decline over the past three years, the series has hovered in the 31,000- to 32,000-copy range for the past several months -- not typically cancellation territory for Marvel.

"Sales remain a source of frustration," David wrote on the Comic Boards forum. "I think the book reads better than ever and retailers aren't ordering more. The book gets national publicity and retailers aren't ordering more. If the book were to end, well, it just wouldn't be a surprise since retailers seem to be sending the message that they're never going to increase orders."

But then David gets coy: "Then again, maybe it's not ending and I'm just yanking your chains. Two weeks before Layla Miller returned, I was asked at a convention if she was coming back anytime soon. And I said to the audience, 'Come on, you know how Marvel works. If Layla were going to return, wouldn't the approach be to beat the drums about it for six months with a whole build up to, "The Return of Layla Miller begins ... HERE!" So it seems reasonable to conclude that until you see that kind of promotional approach, that Layla won't be back.' Sometimes it's not what I say; it's what I don't say. Or maybe it's canceled and I just don't want to admit to it. I'm a puzzle."

They cancel this book and I'm going to have a fit. :cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad:

Where will I get my Peter David fix? Better yet I need this book not only for Peter David fix, but just because damn, I love these characters.

They should just rename it with X-Men in the title somewhere, then it will sell more. And put wolverine on every cover somewhere.

Same here. I was only getting more and more excited now that Shatterstar and Longshot have rotated in. :(

I'm hoping we at least got to see Rictor smile lol. Hell I haven't like him from the start ok he's funny at times as his drunk ass disscussion with Madrox after he had went with M and Syrin (later to find that Madrox was a dupe) showed. But he's always down yet Shatterstar obivously has picked him up.

The only shame with X-Factor is that PAD gets the characters no one else wants. The core team fit, but the Longshot and Darwin additions don't quite sit right with me but I can't put my finger on why.

Darwin and Longshot worked brilliantly with me. And I don't give a damn if Peter had Stacy X, Lifeguard, Adam X, and other lameos like them I'd still read it if it was even half as good as it is now.

probably would have been cancelled alot earlier with a lineup like that

Maybe they should let him relaunch it and use Nightcrawler in the roster like he wants to, no body's doing anything with Kurt anyways and I'd love to see Kurt get some competent story telling. :D

So would I. This is the best X book right now. I'm gonna be pissed if it's gone. :cmad:

Actually, Nightcrawler would fit the team dynamic really well.

Wouldn't there be too much tension having such a religious guy on a team with an openly gay couple?

Rictor and Shatterstar are openly gay now?

Nightcrawler don't give a damn about that ****. He's not that kind of religious guy.
Exactly. He had no issue with Northstar. Kurt is very open and isnt a person of prejudice. His own appearance and struggles with the way he was born pretty much has helped shaped the way he deals with others bc he knows what its like to be on the end of stick being discriminated against him for things he has no control over (being a mutant with a physical deformation)

I think Nightcrawlers probably the only person I could imagine taking over X-Factor investigations if ever Jamie left or wanted a smaller part in it.

He would have no issue with Rictor and Shatterstar. I wouldn't say theyve been outed as gay exactly because... you know what, who really cares. All just people.

BTW, Anyone whos missing out on their Multiple Man fix without X-Factor this wk, check out Wolverine : First Class. Great story featuring an early appearance Madrox :woot:

Nightcrawler is one of those religious people who's accepting of gay people, other religions, and evolution. I mean, he's a Catholic who looks like a demon. He's not exactly a judgmental person.

His love of Errol Flynn and swashbuckling adventure would probably get in the way of Jamie's film noir fetish, though.

Nah, he's one of those kinds of people who actually realize religion shouldn't be about judging other people for who they are.

Or play off each other in an incredibly hilarious way that I would love to read.

Rictor and Shatterstar are openly gay now?
This pic doesn't leave much doubt. :p

Added to this snippet from an upcoming cover I think seals the deal on that particular mystery. :p

Kiel Phegley: And on another bit of cancelled comics rumor control, CBR forum member Raptor wrote in, “'Exiles' is being cancelled after a run shorter than 'New Exiles.' 'X-Factor' has no solicits beyond issue #50. The question I am getting at is will 'X-Factor' be cancelled soon? Also, I like many of the characters in both of these books. Namely Blink (‘Exiles’), Siryn, M, and Strong Guy (‘X-Factor’). Are there plans to utilize these characters when/if the books they star in are cancelled?"

Joe Quesada: Don’t worry, Raptor, “X-Factor” is far from cancelled. Stay tuned for an announcement regarding the future of the series at the Toronto Fan Expo. And as for Blink, lets just say that there’s a very good possibility that you’ll see her pop up somewhere down the road.

Oh ****. Joey Q is talking about X-Factor.

Looks like I am dropping this book after fifty. Cause I don't want to read about how Madrox makes a deal with the devil to set him back decades.
