Comics Official X-Men Forever Thread

It's free for information, just like I do in some other threads.

I finally got the chance to go and pick up this title. I couldn't, however, because it was completely sold out. I only managed to snag the very last copy of Alpha. I hope I will be able to get a copy next week though.
You know, say what you will about Chris Claremont, you can't deny that he has a lot of fans. I'm one of them personally. I won't let some recent years of below-what-is-expected-of-him writing make me forget what he has contributed to the X-men over the years.

Yeah. I was lucky to snag the last copy of #1 off the shelf. It sold out even faster than Uncanny.

Yeah, you were pretty lucky! :( I wanted #1 so badly. Aw well, I guess I'll pick it up along with Gambit origins. :)

how do you think CC is going to handle Dazzler and Longshot? id think that he will have to address it at some point. he left them off and gone. (which is why in 616 they came back for like 2 issues)

so, do you think his story for them will be any different? possibly longer? the original felt really fast...

Yeah, I kinda like it myself, too, and I'm not a big fan of hers.

It's a slightly tweaked version of the training uniform.

I like the black and green as opposed to the white and green, or yellow and green. It looks sleeker. :)

It read more like a fan fiction. Jean was not carrying around some torch for Wolverine and in love with him. She was very much all about Scott. Heck she wasnt even hiding her feelings well in Forever as other people were pointing out the attraction she had for Logan.
Exactly! The lamest Jean I have ever seen! I cant believe they wrote her in for this?...Jogan have always been attraction + friendship not some obvious kind of lovey dovey romantic crap ~So boring!

This book is all kinds of wrong! Why is she bursting into Phoenix rapture every nano second? Btw if she was so into Logan she wouldn't have cared about Cyke's affair.... Such a shame..cuz 90's xmen rocked The artwork looks a lot like Jim Lee but even the Rogue/Remy thing was way off ...as if they don't know each other at all (I do believe Gambit had more game than that when they 1rst hooked up). There's no story it reads like 60's Jack Kirby days xmen 1

Im giving up on CC he's destroying his legacy..... These will be coming out way faster than the othr xbooks (on schedule lol) funny how they can get issues out when they want to..

Yet another way to ca$h in on their cash cow Jean Grey without actually having to bring her back in a plausible way..and make her look like a total **** after she's dead and gone. Way to go marvel..lazy bastards....

Who wasn't curious to know what was going on with Jean at that point and it's the only book she's alive in currently possibly worth buying?
...It's the first iss gold team Chris Claremont had to buy it just didnt expect it to be THAT bad...It's more like a what if

"What If Chris Claremont Came Back to Screw Up the X-men" LOL

Yeah, I don't have any hopes of this series lasting all that long.... :p

i'm still on the fence with this book. it was enjoyable, had a nice nostalgia with the happy Rogue and vulnerable Wolverine, and some nice Colossus/Nightcrawler moments, but im still not sold yet. im not even sold that Magneto will stay dead. i REALLY dont like Jean's feelings for Logan. they never had a relationship like this. it was always one-sided, and if Claremont knew his own work he should know this. and even with Logan, when hes on mission his mind is on the mission, doesnt matter how bad hes got it for the girl next door.

i also keep hearing about Victor really being Logan's father and i'm just not down with that. i'll give this first arc a shot but i dont see myself following this book.

and where the hell was Psylocke?

I do prefer the notion that Sabes is Logan's half brother as was suggested with Dog in Origin. That's as close to family as I'd like. :)

it just sounds so cliche- your mortal enemy is actually your father as you scream NO! looking for your hand cut off by a lightsaber. i can't believe im saying this, but i like the direction X-Men Origins: Wolverine went where Logan and Victor at one time were close that they were LIKE brothers, and drifted until eventually they're opposing natures tore them apart and turned them into enemies.

they werent like brothers....they actually were brothers there

I will admit that I am actually enjoying all of this. I enjoy Claremont's X-Men. I will admit though that there are some strange happenings (I feel Storm is way too I will do it myself in this story) but it is a nice nostalgic piece and it will be interesting to see just where Claremont goes with all of this. I think it is quite difficult to judge from one book and Claremont has always taken time to get to where he is going. I will wait a few more books but right now I like it.

I'm really surprised to see so much negativity toward this book. I'm still very excited about it and look forward to future issues; it's a retro book, and I think once Claremont gets a few issues under his belt and sets off in a clear direction it will be a really great book. This for me is the chance to relive the heyday of the X-Men, and I'm not about to write it off after only 22 pages.
