Comics Official X-Men Forever Thread

really? Back in the late 80s/early 90s, you saw Jean in love with Logan, only settling for Scott, while openly displaying her affection and attraction for him in front of teammates and willing to put him first above Scott?
I think you are exaggerating. They were basically making out in the prison in that Phalanx story when Wolverine was sick and dying from adamantium poisoning.

Again, I just think that's sort of the attraction weird thing they always had going rather than this deep and affectionate love. I think its just Jean digging the bad boy cool loner but honorable noble dude thing.

Also Havok, you are getting bent out of shape for what is essentially an AU, non-canon, non-616 story. If this WAS what Claremont had in mind for the Jean and Wolverine, maybe this is one of the reasons he got canned?

Not to mention, Claremont has not been relevant as a writer for years. And hasn't done a truly quality story in like 20 years.

The truth is Jean has only three plots that gets repeated

1.She's in a love triangle
2.She's Phoenix
3.She's dead

I would be nice to see her involved with something that doesn't involve those things. Not holding my breath though.

I want to see Jean open a bake shop, and have a writer make a huge plot point out of it. Screw the love triangle! Jean Grey makes the best ****ing vanilla custard cake you've ever tasted.

There have only been 4 kisses between them (2 by the time this issue took place) and the one during Inferno was the only public one. She didnt have to fight herself; she fought him literally as she TK blasted him off of her

and her exact words after ward were "I had forgotten the effect wolverine had on me. That kiss...blast him that kiss."
doesnt seem to one sided to me

Did anyone find book 2 interesting? I did. I do wonder where he is going with Wolvie's death and Storm being so suspicious. I wonder if it is the shadow king, a skrull, or worse...nanny considering Storm is a teenager in the future pages. I also wonder about the possibility of a body switch between Storm and Kitty because Kitty seems to rapidly mature as well.

Okay, this is killing me. I can't even get #1! Arrrgh! :(

im thinking that Nanny clone Storm and thats the one with the Xmen while little Storm is the real one

If it's the nanny's clone my question is...how can she recreate Storm's powers to such great effect? Is this explained?

I have been following this title since Alpha and will continue. It is a thorough read with plenty of action and multiple plot threads that have thus far always left me wanting more. Admittedly, the retro appeal adds value to the book, but it is not at all obvious to me why so many people are hating on it so brutally. Compared to most of what's on the market today, I'd say this is really quality writing and from an acclaimed creator who arguably made the X-Men great in the first place. (I would certainly feel comfortable asserting that as fact.) Despite some of the dialogue feeling "dated," I like that I can enjoy the magazine I just spent several dollars on for more than 120 seconds. I'll take melodramatic dialogue and content over a book full of one-word-bubble splash pages any day.

I think the mutation goes along with the genetic code. If you clone Storm 10 times all of them should have weather powers

Do you think it was really Wolverine. The whole missing claw thing made it suspicious.

yeah it was. My only gripe is that the major plot points of this story are being spoiled by Marvel Marketing as they are showing off the covers to like the next 6 issues. Find the cover to issue 4 if you want to find out what happened to the missing claw. If you do spoile yourself then go back and really look at the art for issue 1 to find out how that happened

Okay, I finally managed to track down copies of both #1 & #2. Both sold out before I could get any of them (which will never happen again thanks to my handy-dandy new online subscription).
I actually really liked them a lot. I think they are way better than a lot of the drivel I have been reading in the X-books lately. Even the art is decent (but not stunning like in the Gambit Origin comic) I don't understand the complaints from some of you guys. And it has some of the best Gambit we've gotten in years imo. I can see myself following this series if all goes well. :)

yeah I got a sub as soon as I found out about it. This has been something I have asked about for a long time and now I got it it doesnt disappoint

You obviously haven't been reading the current X-Factor or X-Force to know what good writing is. This is meh at best, boring at worst. You know he's going to screw up Gambit, it's just a matter of time. The covers already indicate he's turning him into Pete Wisdom already. :(

Gambit is the one character Im actually hopeful for in this series bc Claremont seems to be the only writer working on the X books that can write a decent Gambit

I just realized Kitty has the claw, but how did he lose it...it really isn't explained in book 1 unless Kitty somehow ripped it out when she was stuck to Wolvie. Can't wait until the 8th for book 3.

go back and carefully look at the art from issue one

ok during the fight with Cortez he grabs Wolverine and begins juicing his power up beyond his ability to handle it like he was doing to Magneto at this time Kitty leaps at Logan to phase him out of Cortez grip. Her hand goes thru Logan's and she gets her powers juiced like Logan's. She mentions that she cant let go and then Jean tk blasts them free. For the rest of the issue Kitty and Logan are holding their arms.

go back and look
