Okay so I just read CW 5 and the latest ASM (too big a number for me too remember). Here are some thoughts to bare in mind:

ASM shows Pete making a pretty crappy landing from his jump from the NA tower. He then has a breif encounter with Iron Man again, so he's naturally worn out.

ASM 252 wayyyyyyyyy back had Jack O Latern almost beating Spider-man with the fricking symbiote on, so I think he'd be a fair match against Spidey anyways, but with a partner, against a worn out and beaten Spider-man, I think it was justifyed that Spidey got a whooping from the two, he was more focused on getting away from Iron Man than he was on what might meet him up ahead.

Yup. But Union Jack got thumped in turn by Batroc The Leaper in the same storyline.

It's not the same Jack anymore. The one you're referring to his currently a small pile of ashes and a half melted visual implant, courtesy of the original Hobgoblin. The one in CW is the 2nd man to take the mantle ans was a mercenary for hire.

Still, Spidey took worse beating before and was still kicking in high gear. I have an old issue where he gets the **** beat of of him a lot worse by Dr Doom. He got thrown through a couple of buildings and was caught in the backlash of the explosion that leveled said building...all of which gave him a concussion severe enough to later make him talk outloud to an hallucination of uncle Ben. But even though he was thrashed this badly he still kept running along trying to fight Doom...

Peter was supposed to be even better than before since his rebirth, but so far I've yet to see that.

Doom just blasted away at Spidey and used other gimmicks in his armor. Spidey never landed a blow but he did throw a desk a Doom, but Doom just slapped it aside. He also tried sending a whole rack full of training weights on top of Doom but that only made the good Doctor angry.

Had Spidey nailed a good swing at Doom it might've have made some damage or at least stunned him.

Point is, Spidey's tougher than what we're shown these days.

I went to re-check the issue in question (it's ASM 350), and even though Spidey gets seriously beaten down, he's not really fighting back at all. What happened was the Black Fox (an old cat burglar for those who don't know him) stole a jewel that belonged to Doom's mother. Now Doom, of course, is quite pissed and wants to kill the Fox.

That's when Spidey steps in and all he does his try distracting Doom long enough for the Fox to escape. So he relies on webbing up Doom's arm to make him misfire, throwing stuff at him that he knows will only slow Doom down. He's not really trying to hurt Doom but he does end up taking all the punishment!

I'm pretty sure he wasn't, at least not in the comics.

He was just some old dude who for some reason reminded Pete of his uncle Ben.

nope, that's quite correct.

Black Fox is totally unrelated to Felicia. he's just an old crook that Peter never could bring himself to take in, until his conversation with "uncle Ben" (the hallucination) which made him realize that deep down, the Fox had always been a crook and should be brought to justice despite his age.
