Comics Oh, Come On!!!!

Well, just read ASM#536 and it was really good.
Best issue of any Spiderman title in a while. Though they probably should have pushed it back until after CW#6 came out. But the issue further makes me think that anyone who prefered an unmasked story arc to an "on the run story" arc are idiots.

yeah but what happened?
Aloha,
Just as I suspected.Page 5-Tony tells Peter he's a techie and he built things into the Iron Spidey costume so it couldn't be used against him. Peter tells him-He figured that out and bypassed the codes.Very good issue. They refer to CW 5 and 6 twice. So we need to read both issues for some back story. Won't spoil the story.

you don't like anything, do you?

I like you and I don't even know you. (nice avatar & quote)

I like well-written stories (just finished Darkly Dreaming Dexter).

I like hiking in the woods and playing with my kids.

Brubaker's Cap and Whedon's Astonishing ROCK.

But poorly plotted crap... not so much with the liking.

Yeah, but the IM vs. Spidey fights in the two books are completely different.

And in ASM, there's no Jester or anyone. No Punisher.

As for Spoilers:

Spidey does indeed get over-ridden, but it's no major problem. He webs IM's helmet then whacks him, forcing a system failure. Spidey escapes while IM Reboots.

Of course, Pete's back in the Red & Blues. He MJ & May appear to be sleeping in a shelter. Spidey fgoes on the news and admits that siding with the Pro-regs was wrong. The book ends with IM sending out the order to take Spidey down

Then Onslaught appears and it is revealed that everything since Amazing #100 was Franklin Richard's dream! THANK GOD!!!

Does anyone else realise that this makes the crap in CW#5 even more uh.... crappy. After reading this issue you can see Spiderman is clearly not dissoriented or really hurt before entering the sewers. He even,
takes on Ironman and stunns him from a hardblow. Come on Jester and Jackolantern should have been a cake walk compared to IM.

i just picked up punisher war journal #1 and the last few pages show punisher taking out jack o lantern and jester and brining spidey to cap...nice touch to keep punisher witht the civil war continuity

I agree, and that part of the story was disappointing (although the editor DID suggest we wait for CW #6 for the full story..i still don't see how it will all mesh together)...

Other than that, GREAT issue! The Spidey/Iron Man fight went down exactly like many of us anticipated.

not the way I anticipated.
well I should say, just the way I anticipated but not the way I'd hoped.
IOW crap.
And for those who might have thought I'm a Spidey can do anything guy, let me say this.
I find it ridicous that SM would damage IM with just one punch, and have to make him reboot. IM regularly gets hit by much stronger people without having to reboot.
That's just stupid.
I do believe that SM can defeat IM even kick his ass like he did the future IM but it would have to be the david Goliath type of fight where SM overcomes.
So let me understand this, SM can get the upper hand on IM but loses to the jester and Lantern?
This is pure crap IMO

Hey, give 'em a break. He was just fighting Tony (which is you read ASM, that fight extended onto the streets, just ignore the night time setting in CW and daylight in ASM), and got shot at.

As for GG or Venom....the writers didn't want Punisher to leave their heads splatted. ;)

After the Ironman fight (again, it lasted in the tower and to the street in CW and ASM) and then the other two got the jump on him after he was softened up by Tony.

But he wasn't softened up by Tony. Spidey beat IM and escaped.

Exactly. He was in perfect condition judging from that encounter. The fall didn't even phase him. And IM never damaged him.

Hmmm... it seemed to me that after he beat up tony and ecaped to the sewers, he was pursued and 'softened up' by multiple shield agents (read punisher: war journal) before being attacked by Jester and Jack o Lantern.

However, there are still several inconsistencies between the titles which - when read as a whole - detract from the enjoyable experience that it should be.
