OK, Bat-Comic fans. Let's talk...

i cant imagine them ending the movie in a way that would not allow for new batman films. i dont think WB or anyone wants to see a rebooted series after this. and i dont think anyone wants to see anyone trying to clone nolan for sequels. i think the series will continue with new cast in crew in a fashion that doesnt contradict nolan's films. its often said that the franchise should continue in the fashion of james bond films. thats essentially how the comics work, and i think thats what they should do.

I'm much more interested in a reboot. People tend to forget that reboot does not equate to "new origin". I don't want to see anybody limited to a continuity where Two-Face doesn't even exist. I'd also prefer Nolan's story remains self contained. He clearly structured it with that intent if it's one big story in 3 parts (Batman Begins, TDK, TDKR).

RE: Spider-Man this is not place the talk about it but I'm interested. It's using the characters I wanted to see last time (Peter & Gwen in HS NOT Pete & MJ) and I really liked (500) Days of Summer. I always had problems with Raimi's films especially his sequels. The original is a classic though.

The Bond films continuity is a mess. The comics have parallel Earths with many versions of Batman. If, after Nolan's Dark Knight Rise, Warner insists on continuing in the Nolanverse without Nolan directing and without Bale then in order for it to blend with Nolan's Batman films and in order for it to seem like the same versions of the characters then another actor would have to attempt to impersonate Bale's Bruce/Batman and if they ever want to have the Joker appear again but are confined to the Nolanverse then another actor would have to attempt to impersonate Ledger's Joker, etc. I'd rather have a Batman reboot than pale imitations.

I'd also like to have a Two-Face that's alive and will be prominently featured in a film.

i dont see anything wrong with continuing the series with new creative teams, as long as the following films dont contradict the previous films. its the same thing when a new arc starts in the comics with a new writer/artist.

and yeah, not having two-face would be a draw back. nolan really screwed that one up, but....

The problem with doing Knightfall completely is getting a believable reason for why Bruce's back healed... I think ppl forget there was a metahuman healer involved in that in the comic.

Yeah, Shondra Kinsolving. I guess they're going to have to include her in the movie as well.

And that's fine, but honestly i wish they'ed omit Catwoman completely and just concentrate on Bane's storyline. Having Catwoman in the middle of this seems like more of an un-nescessary distraction than anything else. Anyone else getting that vibe?

i can see how catwoman could play into things. regardless, you know theres no way they're gonna make a movie without a female love interest, so....

im sure they're gonna go with catwomans most recent costume design, but i wouldnt mind seeing them play around with some of the older designs.

What do you guys think about a few mo-cap Batman movies after Nolan's films? It would set them apart, plus allow for a more artistic take on Batman in terms of beautiful money-shots, atmosphere, etc. I've always thought Batman was awesome in terms of how in both the comics and in animation he could narrow his eyes, use his cape more dramatically, etc. Fight scenes could be more advanced without worrying about the limitations of actors in suits. You could have a more comic-bookish feel to the whole thing (i.e. not hyperrealism) without it seeming too campy. Plus, mo-cap technology seems to be advancing in leaps and bounds. I think it could be pretty awesome.

In terms of Catwoman in TDKR, I hope they follow a sort of "Heart of Hush" portrayal of her. To me, Dini is the best Catwoman writer. I kinda hope they maybe consulted him a little bit or read his work.

Yeah I think in terms of the modern books the Dini Bruce/Selina dynamic despite it's "they're soulmates" insistence which I hate will probably be the most well received generally. Good look for Bale too as he's never really connected with any of his female leads.

He needs something like this on his resume. Provided he has the right chemistry with ug mug. Here's hoping. I mean at least match Keaton/Pfieffer still the best chemistry and most believable romance in any superhero movie. If done properly they'll be as good.

Problem is Keaton and Pfieffer's chemistry was too genuine cause of their on screen past. Can Bale and Hathaway form a similar instinctive bond? I hope so cause it could cripple the movie partly if it's ineffective.

I didn't like BB much cause it didn't change MUCH from it's first draft which I foolishly read way before the movie ever dropped. I loved TDK cause I pretty much stayed away from it's board and any news till the movie was in theaters. I'm doing the same with this one.

But from what I forsee vaguely if Hugo Strange is indeed in this movie as rumors persist. I could see Nolan using him as the mad scientist from the early comics. Bane will be his "monster man" in the sense that he will supply him with venom. Then later sick him on crime to show that he could be a more effective crimefighter than Batman for Gotham who is still public enemy #1 after the last movie. Using all this to further his own agenda.

Having him really "hunting" for Batman all along taunting him to come out. So instead of Hugo himself dressing in the cowl he uses Bane as an avatar of sorts for that part of his character's familiar arc of when he tries to become Batman. Bane will be the enforcer type that much is clear if they go that route. Which I'm fine with.

I just want him to be the calculating leader and not just militaristic strategist that he has become in Secret Six. Most of that is cause he's off venom though so I don't think they'd use it in the movie if it pans out this way.

I could see them using the fact that Strange knows that Bruce is Bats in the comics somehow in the movie. The same way he tries to toy with him, sell his identity in a bid then become him during the Englehart days and I could see be done here. Nolan is a child of the 70's after all if he ever read any Batman comics as a kid it will be those. He'll have Bane go to Wayne manor where he will do what he's famous for in the comics and break him. This is what Batman "rises" from.

All the titles have a purpose after all with these movies. He will keep the essence of the villlains (their most relevant characteristics and recurring story elements) in his own way while presenting it with a slight spin as usual. Something like that cause it seems plausible with the narrative and world Nolan came up with. We'll see.
