I would have to give the slight edge to the GLC. The primary advantage that they have is the fact that they can do stand-off attacks. Although both the Jedi and Sith can use the force at a distance, it seems that they are limited in range, where a Green Lantern could virtually attack from orbit (in theory). I give the users of the force some credit for their mastery of the light saber, but it is the standoff attacks that I believe would give the Green Lanterns the edge.

Really, even in the DC universe it's sort of unbelievable that anyone, anywhere, ever could defeat someone holding a power ring. The Lanterns have a nigh-unlimited ability to create bigger, better weaponry, their rings can imitate most force powers after a fashion, they can punch a hole in any Star Wars space-faring vehicle, and they can survive in space.

Of course, if a Jedi got his hand on a Lantern ring, then there'd be trouble. Jedi are better trained and more disciplined, generally--and then there's all those mental force powers, augmenting their awareness and understanding. Jedi with a power ring, not to be messed with, I would think. Almost as dangerous as Batman with a power ring, haha.

i understand your point but lets break this down

Well the thread was an invitation to “Compare them” – “Discuss them” point out things they had in common more than anything else, and listed last if people wanted to “Fight them” which I just put in there because I know people like to do that. As evidence by the replies.
But the spirit of the thread was not meant for that alone, you’re welcome to compare them, discuss what tropes, themes, concepts, visuals they have in common, etc. Or don't have in common. I listed many, And for eg the panel I posted of Sinestro falling to the Dark Side. there are others. That was more the point.

You chose to focus on the “warsies” aspect of the thread, but thanks.

In Space,a ship would be needed for the Jedi.The Green Lantern Corps don't need a ship to travel in space.

I don't think the Corps or the Jed would ever actually fight each other... most likely, since they are so similar complete with hidebound elders, they would form an alliance to duke it out with the Sith and if the Corps ever had a massive die off in a world with a Jedi Order there's a good chance those rings would select Jedi for GLs because a Jedi has to have strong willpower and the ability to over come great fear. Some would probably also end up Blue Lanterns. The Sinsetro Corps would seek out Sith Lords because those guys have no problems using fear as a weapon. And Sinestro would likely get supplanted real quick by almost any Sith Lord, especially Vader. Who likely would end up with a red ring while we're at it. Sidious/Palpatine would end up with yellow, red and orange because he's just that kind of guy. Let's just say mixing the two worlds would end up a very messy affair.

There are Jedi techniques that don't require getting close at all from the EU. Jedi Battle Meditation just might be able to sap the will power from the Corps in the first place.

There are a slew of similarities, what with both being inspired by the Lensmen. Hal Jordan is similar to both Anakin and Luke Skywalker, including his change into Parallax. Which gives Kyle Rayner a Luke Skywalker-like quality as he now has to take up Hal's mantle and be the last GL. And obviously the Guardians and Yoda look a lot alike, and the Guardians and the Jedi Council are rather similar and stodgy in so many ways. And the Jedi Council has been depicted like that in almost every era of Star Wars in the EU.. and both the Guardians and the Jedi Council think it best to suppress emotion.

I think the Green Lantern Corps have an advantage over the Jedi/Sith because Force users can't battle in the vaccum of space, unless they're properly equipped.


The only advantage I an see for Jedi/Sith are in close quater combat & in
terrestrial enviroments, otherwise no.
