This one looks fine for me:

But I really want them to go all the way. I mean, she is a mutant. They don't have to do streaks. There are mutants with blue skins, so why not mutants with full purple hair?

That shade of purple looks great.

I think after having Storm's white hair and then giving Toad greenish hair which were back in 1999 when they filmed X1. Also Beast had blue hair in X3/DOFP. Translating Psylocke's purple hair into the big screen should be easy.

Hmm I don't know if Brown is Mingenbach's favorite color, I think it would be black... seeing the leather costumes from the original trilogy, the costuming in the future portion of DOFP and her costuming for the G.I. Joes.

I think it is actually. She talked about how she embraced of the color during Days of Future Past interviews. :whatever: I even remember during a Superman Returns interview someone asked what her favorite colors were and she said brown, beige, and gray. Yep. This girl designs comic book movie costumes, everybody.

Reminds me of that scene from The Office. :funny:

If they give a Storm a mohawk I'll let them do whatever the hell they want with everyone else.

So what if those are her favourite colours. Doesn't make her a bad person for the job. Black is just easier. It's easier to pull off. Even though X-Men are superheroes they've been heavily grounded in reality and black just suits better overall. I'm a fan of the costume we've had so far to be honest. They look more cohesive. I loved the animated series and comics but they all looked like hot messes together. I like the All New X-Men looks and the recent X-Men 1 comics with the X-Women team. They all looked cohesive. Anyway in regards to Psylocke they will probably give her a blackish look with purple.

Lol her fav colour is brown and that automatically makes her under qualified for the job and no imagination. Ok then you stick with that.

Clearly you cant be a fashion or costume designer if your fav color is brown....

As a fashionista... I dont think theres anything wrong with that. You dont dismiss someone just by their favorite colors but their taste in fashion and designing skills.

There are so many fashionable pieces that are colored brown, grey and beige....especially for men.. its also quite popular in furnitures and architectural design.

I'm sorry but that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Just because you like a certain colour it doesn't mean you don't have an eye for design or taste. Big deal she likes brown. How is that important?

It's all up to each person I guess. I liked her designs for X-Men it looked military and they looked cohesive as a team. So I don't know whatever.

It's kinda bad when Xavier, Wolverine and Beast are all wearing the same color in one pivotal scene and your principal actor (McAvoy) jokes about all the brown jackets.

Edit: I actually didn't know brown was her favorite color. Didn't really stand out to me in her other movies that I've seen of hers (read: Singer movies). But yea I don't know what the thinking was with giving the 3 brown jackets.

When I say favorite colors, I mean it's her only color palette. Washed out, neutral, drab, and boring palette. You don't have someone who um... "specializes" in earth tones, do colorful, comic book superhero films. She's not underqualified because she likes brown. She's underqualified because she's underqualified. You might not have noticed, but most of us can easily discern her style from a mile away: Cheap, non-fitting, and that palette we talked about.

Her costumes for G.I. Joe/Hancock definitely didn't look cheap and not-fitting.

I'm also not saying she's the best costume designer out there... obviously there's always someone better. But eh I don't think she was that bad.

The ones in Hancock did. Never seen GI Joe, but I'm willing to bet it does too. Was she the one that gave Snake Eyes foam lips and baggy pants? :funny:

Look at those scrunched up arms... Classic Mingenbach.

And I love how 15 years later, she's never surpassed the black with pin stripes look. He work has seemed to regress actually.

Such innovation.

If you look at those screenshots, the DOFP costumes don't look that good but I think it worked really well on screen. It fitted the atmosphere and they looked practical to wear fighting the Sentinels (without resorting to clunky body armor).

its nice they are really embracing the colourful costumes with Apocalypse but obviously with the villains i think they are still gonna be wearing dark outfits though since they are villains and it adds more menace

I think Fox, Singer and co are very aware of what the fans want and especially because they know they can get away with it now not only with other comic book movies but also because the 80s setting is perfect. She got the 70s looks so well in DoFP. Yes there was brown but I look through the photos of my mum and dad during the 70s and their wardrobe was all tacky dirty brown and all that. The future mutants too really the looks worked. They aren't in fancy colorful suits. The outfits fit. However they have no excuse now. The 80s is bursting with crazy outfits and colours. They need to go nuts and what we've seen so far looks great and promising.

I would think that the X-Men wore a lot of brown in DOFP because it was the 70's, and that was a style for young men at the time.

As for the costume designs "regressing" in DOFP, that's sort of the point, in the future scenes at least. The X-Men did not have access to the quality of the materials/manufacturing they had access to in the OT. So their costumes were meant to be a lot more "makeshift", piecemeal, and a lot less sleek and "fashionable".

Is the 70's really an excuse for the brown?

If they're not acting as actual "X-Men," then I don't care what they're wearing. There was no team in 1973, so Wolverine and Beast wearing brown, '70s street-clothes is fine.

Although in the future, I actually think it would have been cooler and sadder if they didn't have new costumes and were instead wearing ragged, worn-out/torn versions of their leather X-uniforms. Would have helped drive-home the desperation.

did he mean the actors' skin colors, sarcastically ?

psylockcolossus is incapable of detecting sarcasm
