Comics "Omega Mutants": The Official Discussion Thread

I figured that we needed a thread to focus on them since others complain about it being in every thread. Here, you can talk about any Omega mutant and on how they are portrayed as Omega. Well here are the Omega's that I know of:

Jean Grey/Phoenix
Iceman
Quentin Quire (i think thats his last name)
Mister M
Elixir
Rachel Grey (even though its pretty useless to put her)
Franklin Richards
Vulcan


and thats about it right? Please correct me if i'm wrong. Anyway, if ya want, you could just list one of the above names and put how they are Omega and what their Omega power can do.

Franklin Richards is a confirmed Omega. Vulcan (the fourtieth third summers brother) is confirmed as well.

In DG they picked up the signal of an Omega Level mutant falling from space. Emma assumed this was Xavier. As such, people will say that Xavier is an Omega Level mutant because Miss Frost thought so. I personally disagree but meh... people will believe whatever suit them.

The whole point of Omega Level mutants is unlimited potential. It's not coming back from the dead, it's not bringing others back from the dead, it's not destroying the world twenty times over. It's the simple idea of having a power that allows you to do whatever your mind can imagine.

Now as a sidenote; many people say Iceman shouldn't be on this list and Storm should because of what they've been shown to do. I would like to just throw this statement out there....

Classification of an Omega Level Mutant is not based on what the mutant has done. It is based on what the mutant CAN POTENTIALLY do.

Xavier, for example, has a very limited power. He can read someone's mind and plant mental suggestions. He can't even make himself walk for christ's sake. And everyone is calling him an Omega Level Mutant? He has no potential. He can do what he does and there's absolutely no creative way to do his powers other than how they've been done for the past however many years.

Then you have someone like Jean with her unprecidented levels of telekinesis and telepathy. She can control atoms with her telekinesis. She can use her telepathy to essentially rip the primal force of existence out of someone else's body and claim and control it as her own. She has no limits to what she can do.

In closing, the idea of Omega Level mutants is really really really really stupid. But if people insist on talking about them and constantly bringing them up I feel it's only right to discuss them in an intelligent and sophisticated manner. Unlimited potential is unlimited potential. So there's no point in trying to make "Insert name here" an Omega when they have clear cut limits to their powers. I hope this has been informative.

Xavier and Magneto were outed in Deadly Genesis 2, recap page. In fact they, alongside Vulcan and Phoenix are stated to be "beyond Omega".

Here is the correct quote:

Whoever the pilot of the shuttle is, his power is beyond Omega level, easily on the level of Xavier, Magneto, or quite possibly the Phoenix.

It's on an X-Men book, they are Omegas (or were to be more accurate). And about Wanda... I seriously doubt she has definetely supressed her own powers. I bet her powers are just dormant. I can't wait till she comes back... I miss her!!!
