24. HAWKEYE RESURRECTED

Back from the dead since House of M, Hawkeye sought out his murderer and one-time friend, the Scarlet Witch, for closure, but upon learning she had lost her memory, found none.

Brevoort: “We haven’t seen his take on Civil War and his friends fighting one another, but the fallout will affect him. [Hawkeye] will be turning up somewhere in a key role that I think his fans will like.”

Bendis: “He’s a very complex character, probably the most complex character I’m writing. Captain America was very important to him and what has happened weighs heavy on him.”

Name me one other book that bendis is writing that this character could be added to? There's only one slot available and that's ronin. It was kinda obvious from the start but this pretty much confirms it. Unless bendis is writing a new solo book for this character, in which case I'll ****ing kill him.

My god bendis you really are a complete ****** :whatever:

Um, what? Ronin's identity has already been revealed, hasn't it?

Oh, okay. Man, Bendis' stupid decisions never cease to amaze me.

Yeah, this is nothing. Joey Q said about 6 months ago that Hawkeye was going to be written by Bendis and Hawkeye fans would love him by the end of the year. Nothing new. He was actually revealed 6 months ago. Sorry Hippy.:oldrazz:

He doesn't say that he's on a team only that he's writing him, two very different things.

It may turn out you're right but at the moment this is just some extreme conclusion jumping.

I appreciate it's been a while since we've had one of the old ill thought out lets-bash-bendis-for-some-imagined-reason threads but isn't this all a bit 2005?

I'm actually with Gildea here. Maybe Hawkeye shows up in the Halo ongoing.

bendis has said that not everyone featured in mighty avengers #1 is actually on the team. i'm guessing he shows up in that title somewhere down the line.

if there's anyone that's going to be for keeping superpowers in check it's going to be clint.

Technically, Clint doesnt have to register, because he has no Superhuman abilities, or at leats according to Brevoort:

Q: What makes someone a hero according to the SHRA If I were to run into a flaming building and save a baby but don't have any real powers can I expect Bullseye to stab me in the spine days later? What if I stop a rape from occurring on the street that I live on should I immediately relocate and change my name?

TB: It’s not heroes that are being registered, it’s superhuman abilities. So if you run into a burning building but emerge unharmed because your skin is super-tough, you’d better get yourself down to a registration office pronto. And if you stop a rape by blasting the would-be rapist with beams from your fingertips and you don’t register, then it’s possible that you could receive a visit from Bullseye in the middle of the night.

also the comment about cap would suggest new avengers.

come to think of it, other than black widow the mighty avengers are all uber, having clint on that team would be just about ******ed enough for bendis to do it :(

if you were refering to my post, that's not what i meant at all. clints been murdered TWICE by unchecked superpowers. that's why i said if there's anyone who'd be for the registration, it's him.

all he said was that what cap has done "weighs heavy"...that could mean ANYTHING. could mean he's terribly disappointed in steve, and joins the mighty avengers. my point is, don't rush to assume.

also, doesn't the black widow have some sort of super soldeir serum in her now?

Technically, Tom Brevoort is full of it. Prowler was leapt upon by SHIELD agents and thrown in the clink and he has no powers; just gadgets and skill. To the best of my knowledge, Typeface has no powers either. He was arrested and later slain by Pro SHRA agent Venom. If Marvel's #2 can't get the specifics of the SHRA straight after 9 months, we have issues.

As for the Hawkeye = Ronin theory, it is old news. I'm already braced for the stupidity.

Geez, we're really cynical. Can't we all just try optimism for once and hope that Bendis won't be that obvious? He really didn't put Daredevil on the New Avengers after all, right? Maybe he'll avoid--ah, who am I kidding. This is ******ed. :(

That what they get for chaning the SHRA from the Superhero Registration Act to the Superhuman Registration Act half way through.:whatever:

I've never really known Bendis for actually being able to weave an intricate mystery of any sort. I really don't expect it now.

Now, we COULD say he'll suprise us (He is the idiot who put Doctor Strange on a team of people so underwhelming that Strange would be wasting his time or putting them in serious danger just being there), but we're talking about Bendis. Aside from idiot suprises, he has no suprises.

you've obviously never read any of his jinx stuff, then.

This entire thread is about a story no one has read yet and a hypothetical assumption which people take as canon enough to bash the creator despite it being their assumption.

Basically logic has no place in this thread so she's on safe ground even if she hasn't read jinx.

Out of all the heroes on the New Avengers, Hawkeye is probably the least complex. Spidey by far has the most problems from the SHRA (hell he's pretty much the only superhero in comics these days that actually needs a secret ID), Cage is leading the team, Strange is full of conflict, but yes, Hawkeye is the most complex just because he had a man crush over Cap.

People will stop bashing bendis when HE stops crapping on their favourite characters.

Simple logic really

Hey i'm not saying there is anything wrong with bashing bendis.

But this thread is basically bashing him for something that hasn't happened and has no actual proof that will happen.

When you start imagining reasons to bash someone then you're being unfair, you're bashing him for a rubbish idea you came up with. Sure if he uses that idea then bash away but don't blame him for your bad writing, at least until he's written it.

To recap bendis hasn't to use your phrase "crapped" on hawkeye yet by using this idea yet here you are bashing him anyway. You're not even following your own logic.

That's the Hype for ya.

LoL To be fair half the MU had a man crush on Cap. He's Captain Freakin America. Hawkeye is not now, nor has he ever been in any way special.
