Yes, that's why I'm getting sick of them.:D

Preview for ASM#544. http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.1428.Amazing_Spider-Man_#544_Preview

"It's about the most terrible, awful thing in the world. Certainly the worst that Peter Parker has ever had to face," explained JMS. "He has to make a choice between two equally devastating possibilities, both of which will forever affect his life, and there is no third choice, no way around it."
That got me a little more worried. I like the art of this story but like I said, I'm worried.

Joey Q squirmed A LOT during the WWC Marvel pannel every time the marriage of MJ/Peter came up, finally he said that he's not a big fan of it and that it didn't work for HIM. After that, a lot of people "BOO"ed at Joe. It was such a great site to see. Excuse me joey q, but this isn't about YOU, guess you are seeing that huh.

We are wearing him down guys, of course he won't realize that till the damage is done. Okay, newsarama says keep the marriage, they did a poll and it's for the marriage, people "BOO" at him in Chicago...these are hints here Joe, use that fat mellon ontop of your neck.

yea he is stupid for not listening to us the fans who are the ones that buy the books and give him/marvel all the money.

JQ doesn't listen to the fans because he has convinced himself that there is a "marriage controversy" out there lurking around the corner that is going to eat him up. He has even (stupidly) admitted that the marriage keeps him awake at night, when he thinks about the "controversy". (The PRO marriage poll results are prolly written off in his mind because of some conspiracy there too...)

He is pretty dead set in every interview for years to rid us of the marriage.

He reads to me (in his interviews now) like a crazed exterminator....desiring to spray the marriage with pesticides, stomp it out, figure out every angle he can possibly split them up.

So besides the fact that the marriage is something an "everyman" can relate to....i will also not tolerate a spilt up of any kind now because it would also feel VERY FORCED to have them broken up after all JQ has said. It would feel like an AGENDA ...not a story.

Yup it's all down to fatboy and his perception of what Spider-Man 2007 should be. A lot of creators who have worked on Spider-Man do actually think Spidey should have never gotten married to MJ because they are different types of people, but the thing is- they have been married in print for 20 years and the fact is their characters do fit together. They have have grown into the people they are today, wiping all that away now makes no sense.

what does that mean? That in some way for Spidey to save Aunt May he'll have to scrifice MJ?...ok what's the point? As someone said, they've been together for such a long time, all generations of Spidey readers have know Peter Parker as a married man. It's selfish. But well wait and see, maybe that's not what's going to happen.

I've been saying the same thing, but I love the way you summed it up here.

Okay, "Opperation Stick it to the Pig" is on, whose with me on this? When OMD comes out you all know what you need to do.

Maybe not, but I think it might. I do agree about there being no point to sacrafcie MJ. Nothing needs to happen to her, IMO.

I'm thinking more along the line of

1. Let someone die...

or

2. Erase a certain amount of history in order to go back and save the person. But in doing so, he has to erase his entire history with MJ.

^ From the way JQ talks...no matter what Pete will have to do, it will most certainly somehow carry the pricetag of losing his wife/marriage.

Very convenient, cheap story telling imo. Why won't his decision effect something like him going bald, or 1/2 the plant life on the planet dying...(These are dumb examples)...but my point is WHY does Pete changing something in time specifically HAVE TO effect his MARRIAGE...? (The answer is obvious....JQ!!!)

Forcing a split up is not gonna make most fans happy campers.

Hopefully someone at Marvel will tell JQ he should let his anti-marriage agenda go and to stay awake at night thinking about something more important and more creative.

true, but maybe it would turn something like that Smallville episode, where Clark in order to save Lana goes back in the past, makes a small change but his father gets killed. What I meant is that it might be the consequences and not an deliberate choice if you see my point

It could be possible that Peter must make the choice of abandoning his Aunt May to a lonely demise or allowing his wife to be captured by the police. Or something similar to that. I think it WILL have to be a choice between Aunt May and Mary Jane, however.

The thing is Joe Q has been a little TOO vocal about his distaste of the marriage, wouldnt it be too expected for him to just end the marriage? We woulda all saw it coming, cause he's flat out said he doesnt like the marriage, but Marvel's all about curveballs and misinterpretations, so i think we can expect pretty much the opposite of what Joe Q's been saying, which may mean that the marriage might still be in effect.

I just wanna know what's going to happen to Peter's "fugitive" status, him and his family cant be on the run forever and it doesnt look like registration's goin away any time soon, so im very curious as to how Peter's life returns back to "normal" in Brand New Day. Dr. Strange or Loki anybody?

Perhaps both.

yea they were cool and all that but not really needed. Cant wait to see where OMD and then BND go with spidey.

I am thinking they are gonna split Pete and MJ up for sure...in some way. I mean, JQ has gone on and on about it for the past years.

And the one alternate cover drawing shows One More Day coming between Pete and MJ, while another shows them shattered.

BUt I've been thinking....that just MAYBE they'll keep them married....with MJ just not knowing his secret identity. (But that would not be a big deal since he could just "tell" her again.)

But i doubt that too...since JQ has been talking about Pete being in love triangles and how love triangles are a cornerstone element that makes a spidey book a Spidey book......:whatever: .... ...and THAT is hard to do with a happily married couple!

So, i don't know what to expect...and am looking forward to finding out.

BUt if the marriage is ended, in a timesweep or mindwipe or whatever forced means...at least MArvel has made it very easy to stop reading Spider-Man since they're calling it all one "name". MArvel will declare victory no matter how many fans leave, because they'll say numbers are up, which will be true, because they'll be selling MORE of it, X3...instead of monthly. Unless they totally tork off all fans and it bombs horribly.
Only then will JQ's "marriage controversy pie" land all over his face.

I'm still willing to bet that there will be "no" end of the marriage after "One More Day"......oh something damatic is going to happen and it will affect the marriage....but there is no way in hell JQ is going to be that sloppy giving away the end of a story......there's foreshadowing and then there's simple sabotage to a story whose payoff is something that everyone and his dog knew was going to happen ....it's too anticlimatic....JQ is swerving us.

That being said, I still don't think the next year will be a strong one for proponents of the marriage.....JQ already hinted to what I believe is going to happen.....no matter how you end the marriage it'll age Spidey.....so do nothing...as JQ put it, ignore it and people will forget.....no I don't believe JQ means that people will literally forget he's married, but she'll become such an irrelevant piece of furniture, that in Q's deluded mind, it won't hamper strong story telling...when's the last time we've seen MJ in New Avengers?....and which sells better NA or ASM?....keep in mind this is JQ logic

Anyway, my predictions for after OMD (in order of likelihood)

1/ The mask goes back on
2/ Aunt May either dies or stays dead likely because of a decision Spidey's forced to make
3/ The marriage is kept in tact.
4/ The "Other" is retconned...(hard to go back to good ol, fun lovin Petey if he's a freaking Spider-God with wolverine spikes)
5/ Either Gwen Stacy returns to give JQ some love triangle potential, or the marriage, although retained, is about as relevant and spoken about as "Madame Web"

So besides the fact that the marriage is something an "everyman" can relate to....i will also not tolerate a spilt up of any kind now because it would also feel VERY FORCED to have them broken up after all JQ has said. It would feel like an AGENDA ...not a story.

VERY well put.

yea i cant wait to see where this is all going to go with OMD and BND and all that.
