But wether you agree or not, there has been more than one person at Marvel who has felt that the marriage was, maybe no a problem, but perhaps an obstacle. Maybe the better word would be annoyance.
They have tried to put strain on their relationship, they have tried to kill her, they got her to move away, they also tried to have them live happily. But no one seems to be happy with these resolutions.
We don't know for a fact that MJ will die. All we know is that people at marvel, even "some" fans are not happy with the marriage, or think that it could be better if Pete was single.
How does this seem forced at all? To me, all the other Marvel events seem forced, and this is something that maybe the fans don't agree with, but Marvel wants to deal with. And they are doing it. Just because it is a blockbuster event doesn't mean it's forced.

Oh of course, there are lots of people at Marvel that dislike the marriage as well as fans that dislike the marriage. As per your point though, it seems every time they try to end the marriage that's when the fans really speak up and demand MJ back. The majority, at least the way it appears to me, is that the fans like MJ and want the two to be married. Why people at Marvel keep complaining about MJ when the fans seem to like her is beyond me.
Now as far as the forced thing goes, if you don't feel a lot of these Spidey events feel forced, than that's cool. To each his or her own. :yay: They come off very contrived and forced to me, the stories don't seem to flow naturally IMO.
Morlun comes to mind as an example of this. They wanted this villain to really be a bad ass, to be the one that Spider-Man couldn't beat and who would kill him. There was no deep back story though only this totem stuff and it was a very new character. There was no, wow this is a long time foe of Spider-Man who really has this pent up rage and he's finally figured out a way to beat him. To me, the whole, he hits harder than the Hulk and the totem stuff and the eating of the eye, etc. etc. etc. IT just came across as forced, at least IMO. There forcing it down my throat that Morlun is the toughest villain Spider-Man ever faced (which I don't buy) and he's going to die at his hands, he got lucky to beat him the 1st time, blah, blah, blah.
Maybe it's just me but I feel like these writers are trying to tell me how to feel about a story instead of letting me read about it and make up my own mind or come to my own conclusion. If I go to a horror movie, don't tell me I should be scared... scare me! :cwink:

Why should I have to go reposting all your old stuff? You have access to all your old posts why don't you go back and reread all that yourself? I read it and it was hateful. Hateful toward people that you don't even KNOW. I don't need to sit here and post every single little LINE to prove myself, haha. God, I love message boards. :woot:

It has nothing to do with an opinion. It has everything to do with being hateful and disrespectful to people simply because they don't make the comic books like you're USED to having them.

You can go on about how storylines and the character sucks. THAT'S your opinion. But insulting human beings over making a COMIC BOOK, whether you love it or not, is hateful. It's sick. And, most times to me, it's hilarious.

?

I don't even know how to respond to you. LOL

??

You've attacked me since joining this message board with weird comments here and there...and people have said just to ignore you....so..i dunno..

"Insulting HUMAN BEINGS"?????????????????????

STORYLINES AND CHARACTERS SUCK??????????

I've never once used the word suck. I love spidey and the characters in his comic.

???????????????????????

I dunno what you're even TALKING ABOUT here....outta the blue.

LOL.....sheesh SIAT!

Kind of like how you wished Paris Hilton would get "killed in jail or hit by a bus or something" over on the Marvel boards last week....right? :whatever:

SO by not posting an example...i guess you are ADMITTING that you are NOT reading my posts & don't have the foggiest clue of what you're trying hard to stir up.

You just accuse people and fling accusations pointlessly. Swell.

Are you even talking about ME??......Do you even KNOW who/what you're talking about??

I would really love to know WHAT ALL THIS "HATEFUL STUFF" I AM SAYING TOWARD "PEOPLE" that you accuse me of without anything to back it up or to make your point.

Where is this HATEFUL statement of mine that threw you over the edge, causing you to attack me out of the blue....i just gotta know!

I think we'd all like to know!

I thought everyone on here was sharing spidey opinions.....hmn....I honeslty hope you sleep well tonite SIAT, and hopefully wake up on the GOOD side of your bed tomorrow. Sheesh.

It's good to know that calm, rational discourse still exists on this forum even when I have cut back on my posting. :oldrazz:

Paris I think should be an exception to the rule, her dieing would not be such a bad thing.

ANYone dying is a bad thing man. All life is precious.

No. You're wrong. Some people deserve to die. I'm not saying Paris Hilton is one of them. But there are some people in this world who just don't deserve to live.

^ And who on this thread gets to determined who these people are the deserve to live or die?

Paris is a little (ha) pampered and over the top, sure!....but no reason for someone to want her life to end.

Okay I don't want to turn this into some kind of morality debate. But...

Peadophiles do not deserve to live.

Does anyone disagree with that....?

I dont want to turn it into a morality debate either. We're supposed to be discussing Spider-Man: One More Day, so my final word on the subject is, no, i personally think pedophiles are mentally ill and should be locked up. I dont feel comfortable deciding who should live or die.

I only want to talk "spidey" here, ...i'm not caring to talk about choosing who should live or die in life.

Trying to get us back on track, we now return to our regular broadcast.....

“HEADED FOR THE CHOPPING BLOCK?

“Black Cat, Mary Jane, and Aunt May?

“Is it one of these ladies that take a dirt nap in the upcoming storyline ‘One More Day’? You heard it here, folks. A re-assuring voice and shoulder-to-lean-on is going to be taken out permanent-style in this four-issue storyline, which kicks off in Amazing Spider-Man #544 and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #24. This body check is whipped up by war horses J. Michael Straczynski and Joe Quesada. Pain is promised. No tissues will be issued!

“Who next gets thrown under the bus like the long-lost Gwen Stacy? Details are hard to come by, but what we do know is that there ain’t much joy in Mudville. Spidey’s gonna get left out in the rain again, and oh, how the tears will flow.”
Just to review the syntax for clarity, despite mentioning Black Cat, Mary Jane, and Aunt May, these characters are only referenced in an open question manner. The only definitive claim made is a “re-assuring voice and shoulder-to-lean-on is going to be taken out permanent-style”, seemingly implying it isn’t necessarily one of those characters but...

Someone put it nicely on another thread iu read somewhere, i am trying to remember how they worded it....but....that part of someone dying, is that the audience CARES and that the writers or producers CARE....that involving sensativity creates more compassion & drama in the "death" of a character. ...Something along those lines.

Which I agree.

The way this press release, the way marvel talks about "death", promoting their issue and event here....feels like someone is trying a little too hard to sound hip or something. It feels awkward. Anyone else think so??

When Aunt May died, in #400, it was elequent. Nicely written, Wasn't overly hyped. NO DIRT NAPS mentioned...lol..

Or how about Gwen? Tragic, yet eloquent.

Or Colossus? (more rencently)

Or Hawkeye?

Doesn't talk like this make the "Event" feel cheapend? Death?? And overly advertised? Like they are REALLY trying to get people to buy this next arc. IF it is MJ or Aunt May that dies, it'll not feel eloquent to me now. Even black cat, shouldn't be so "hiply" spoken about in her "death".

I dunno...just feels...wrong....imo.

I personally would enjoy picking up a comic not knowing someone is going to die, and be really moved.

Hey kids, Spidey says "No one deserves to die. Except Kingpin! And maybe Norman Osborn! Drink your milk!"

Farmernudie, you're a good poster. But for the past maybe month to two months you're posts have just been filled with hateful banter. Sounds like you need a nice vacation away from everything.

Ah, so it's not just me. Despite not being a mod, SpideyInaTree feels it's his civic duty to tell posters to leave the board or go on a "nice vacation" when he happens to disagree with their posts, despite not being personally insulted by said posters.

Man, i hope it isnt Joe Robertson...that would suck just as much as any of the ladies....if someone HAS to go, i'd vote for Black Cat...

Aunt May is absolutely useless. She served her purpose at a time when Pete was in highschool and maybe college. Now there's no need for the character. Sure, a second "death" wouldn't be as eloquent as ASM#400 (what death would?), but she's an absolute albatross on the Spider-Man books. Honestly I can't see a reason for her being in the books anymore, except to take up space from other more interesting characters/plots.

Very well. I won't debate your opinion. But I feel the need to point out that I didn't start this Paris Hilton should die, no one deserves to die, nonsense. I merely chimed in.

Anyways, man.

One person who does deserve to live is Black Cat! :cwink:

If MJ is indeed to become "Jackpot", as foreshadowed by the FCBD story Swing Shift. Then I think it'd be cool to have them both on the scene. Counterpoints to eachother. Maybe not having them together as partners. But certainly having Peter dating the two of them. :woot:

I don't think it will be May. Not if "Swing Shift" is to eventually enter current continuity anyway.

LOL....that was funny, and there is truth in there too, hidden in the humor. Well put. :yay:

Yeh, but why would Pete date his wife???? Wouldn't that be...a bit silly??

And, i am not sure we need MJ to become a superhero of sorts to be interesting. Isn't that a bit cliche?

I have a really bad feeling that Joe Robertson's on his way out :(

I hope it isn't Joe....he's a good character...a strong supporting cast kinda guy with a lot of history.

Same here... but Sacosa loves the character too much, and I think he has plans for her after his run on Sensational...

It's a LOT cliche', imo...
