Oh noooo.... I HOPE he was speaking metaphorically! :(

I read something like that in the newsarama interview... "Peter is the unluckiest person on earth" or some such nonsense. :(

There are a LOT of things I like about the old stories... but the ole "can't pay the rent, can't get a date" thing has been done to death in the past and a little of that can go a LONG way. (As in, gets real old, real fast.)

I expect Peter's personality, ethics and tendency to be driven by the "immediate," rather than "plan" for the future, to keep him from ever being named among the rich and famous. And life as a superhero with a SECRET identity is naturally going to have plenty of trials. But to think that it means he has to be chronically STUNTED in his personal life?! UGG.

I don't speak on this topic much but really....don't these blatant "MJ's gonna die" references popping up everywhere reek of "swerve"?....I mean really.....if MJ dies it'd be anti climatic at this point since they've been hinting at it for months......it's a red herring....

...although the pic of "jackpot" does have me worried :(

My worst nightmare...

Some "genuis" at Marvel says, "Hey! Why replace Peter with a clone just to get rid of the marriage when you can simply wave a magic wand make everyone FORGET about it!"

And then a bunch of other blithering idiots AGREE with him. After THAT they sit around for MONTHS working on ways to make the fans FORGET that their wishes have been ignored yet again...

And then I wake up... :(

I have READ the old stories. There were good ones... there were duds... and sometimes I slogged thru, all the while looking forward to the Peter and MJ "era." I have been enjoying it immensely. I WON'T go back.

She's not going to die. We've been told as much. But it doesn't mean that they aren't going to KILL off a big part of what I have loved about Spider-Man.

I don't know HOW the hell they are going to take Peter and MJ (and the fans) from LOVING couple who would die for each other, to "foot-loose, hard-luck Peter Parker" and that RIDICULOSE Jackpot character... both of whom (if the anti-marriage powers prevail) don't remember they are MARRIED.

I can't imagine...

And I've already decided I'm not buying OMD... not untill my fellow "critics" here have given it the thumbs up. I'm tired of paying for things I dislike and then feeling screwed over.

^^^

Its been pretty much my opinion as a Spider-Man fan ever since JMS' run took a turn for the worse.

Now I DARE anyone to tell me that THIS isn't great stuff...

Later in the story... This made me laugh. :)

For those who haven't been following the "Favorite Peter/MJ moment" thread... want to venture a guess at whose work that is? Hint: it's very recent. (And no far peeking at the credits.)

Well, that's the problem, few writers get MJ the way Stan does. If they'd kept her like that throughout the years the marriage would have likely remained interesting.

I'm still interested! :( And I'm not alone.

Thing is... if you did a poll... or :down on Peter's marriage to Mary Jane you KNOW the answer would be KEEP IT.

Through all the crappy stories... trashing Gwen, goblin brats, mystic spider gods... ugg... Peter and MJ were a bright spot. (Ok, I know not for everyone, but I'd WAGER for most it was.)

I don't care how you dress it up, JQ & Co. are once again dissing the fans.

Well, in a recent interview with Zeb Wells, he mentions the return of web-shooters...

:wow: :wow: :wow:

I wonder if Marvel would actually have the balls to claim that the Norman Osborn that we've seen since the Clone Saga is in effect, a Skrull... and that the REAL Norman Osborn died in ASM #122.

I think I'd like that very much.

:yay:

That would make no sense.

But then... when has that stopped them?

Finding out that MAJOR characters have actually been Skrulls... for YEARS... that would be WORSE then claiming they were CLONES.

I wouldn't.

Why would a skrull care so much about Peter Parker/Spider-Man that he would go hide in Europe for years, raise Gwen Stacy's kids, orchestrate the whole clone saga, take away baby May, try to make Peter the "heir to the Goblin legacy," put Flash Thompson into a coma, try to goad Peter into killing him, etc. etc. etc.? All that stuff is too personal for anyone but the real Osborn to do it. And even if its something like "Osborn isn't aware he's a skrull," it still feels like a big cop out to suggest that some pretender did all that stuff. Not to mention the fact that Spidey has so few A-list villains as it is...why take away arguably his greatest one?

I wonder if it will be argued that some of these characters have only been replaced with Srulls in the recent past... and that the "originals" are being kept somewhere.

That whole concept seems dangerously convoluted to be widespread.

I guess it's because I thought it was such a HUGE mistake in bringing Norman back after all these years and to have him responsible for ALL of Peter's major life problems in the meantime.

That, to me, has been one of THE biggest cop-outs Marvel has ever done.

MJ is a Skrull....
...and she's also Lyja Laserfist, Johnny Storm's ex-wife. Redundancy at it's finest.

Well, that's EXACTLY what Bendis is implying in New Avengers and plans to expand that idea for the next big Marvel event, and that they've been doing this potentially for years. He's even gone as far to say that, while they certainly were not behind things like Avengers Disassembled, House of M, and Civil War, they did take advantage of the situation to make things worse.

Not to mention how he's been used to be responsible for virtually every problem in Peter's life from the fake Aunt May to Gwen's kids, since having him be the mastermind behind the clone saga required him to be out of character to the point where he became a poor man's Lex Luthor. Heck, his being a Skrull wouldn't be any worse than what they've done to the Green Goblin already.

Amen to that.

Quote from Dan Slott:
"Slott: Ow. I am. We all have to be cagey talking about this, because we don't want to spoil any of the big shocks of JMS and Joe's One More Day. That said, "Brand New Day" is about getting back to Peter Parker. For awhile we saw the cool take of playing against type, having down-on-his-luck Pete live in a penthouse, get waited on by Jarvis, and room with his fellow superheroes. And those stories were fun!

But now it's time for some pure, New York City, can't pay the rent, can't get a date, crackin' wise, kickin' butt Spider-Man. And taking that Spidey to new and surprising places."

Only single men care about getting a date...right. Dead MJ?
Aw, dang..:csad:

Awesome!
Maybe webshooter's are returning because in that preview of One More Day (Where pete fight's Tony), Peter "empty's it all out" (Webbing) covering it all over Tony.

I would like the return of
web shooters.

I don't see why he mentioned the return of
Pete dating...we've already seen that. We've been there. Plus, it'd be extra redundant now if they went back to it, because we'd all know the relationship couldn't go anywhere...not to mention just because someone doesn't REALIZE they're married doesn't mean they're NOT married. So, a "clueless" married Parker dating someone else is...........not good.......
