Yea baby!
Is it just me, or is it looking more and more like they're just trying to push the re-set button?
Not on just the marriage, but all the Sins Past/Other stuff as well?
Think about it, Joey Q is not stupid, and has admitted his, and his predecessor's mistakes on Spidey...
As well as that, he has repeatedly stated he doesn't have anything against him being in a serious relationship with MJ, he just thinks Spidey being married would deter younger readers, (cough, MORON!, cough...)
You know what, I while ago there was a poster on the Millarworld forums that said he knew Marvel's 2 year plan on Spidey, and said it's going to be the clone saga of our generation. Most people would think he's talking out of his behind, but not too long before that he knew about some secret conversations Millar had with Marvel re: his possibilty of coming back on Ultimate X-Men. Even Millar was astounded that he knew about this.
Anyway, my point is that this guys has some credibility, and the reason he may have compared it to the Cone Saga was because CS was originially designed to happen as the powers that be at the time ALSO felt that Spidey was aged too much. Marriage and pregnancy did not appeal to them, so the idea of Ben Reilly was to create a fresh slate.
Joey Q may think he can get away with it this time is because he's keeping Peter... One of the main outrages about CS was that fact that we've been following a fake Peter for decades, with Brand New Day we still have Peter.
The other trick is getting this kind of talent on ASM. I don't know about everyone here, but it's a lot easier to boycott ONE Spidey book. Now, there'll be only one, and even if we don't like the status quo, (well, the loss of the marriage really,) they're going to bring back A LOT of other cool things that's been missing with Spidey in recent years, as well as a quite frankly, an astounding crative team.
He's pretty much making it so it'll be EXTREMLEY difficult to say no. Which has NEVER been the case before in a situation like this. He's being a very smart business man and keeping all bases covered...
I really hope this turns out well though
