….Just musing about the $3.99 price tag,- what exactly was the reason for this price increase?

It's a big event that was really hyped up. Lot's of people are sure to buy this book. So, raise the prices to make more money.

It's like when Gas prices go up around long weekends. It's not because you are getting better quality gas. It's because everyone is going away for the weekend.

BLEH I hate the art, it looks horrible :down

Awww...why you have to point that out!!??? :cmad:

I think Strange shows up in part 2 and can't help Peter by the issue's end...

The bird we saw fly to the window sill on the first page of part 1... I think it has something to do with Loki.

Doctor Strange can't do anything recently. He can't even fly!!!!

As for the "Director's Cut style extras" that was meant to justify the $3.99 price tag...

Most of that stuff I bought and read about a month ago in the BIB Spider-Man Handbook!!! :cmad:

Straczynski IS currently writing Thor.....

The extras for this issue is Spidey's history. What about the following issues? History of other characters?

Why can't they add more pages instead? :csad:

Here's a question for you guys...

Can anyone identify what that picture is on the wall in the bottom left panel of page four. It's too small for me to make out. But does anyone else recognise it? Has it any relevance?

Yeah but dude, I already bought the histories of Spidey and other characters in this years handbook. I expect new material for the extra dollars i'm paying. As I think someone else already suggested, they should have just spread out the OMD Sketchbook's stuff across the four issues. That would've saved me $2.99 as well as padded out the "extras" i'm paying for during his event.

I'd also like to take the oppotunity to say that the last five issues of ASM that I read prior to OMD Part 1, now feel like a complete waste of money. And it's become obvious that the "Back In Black" arc was not only a shameless movie tie in, but also five dragged out issues of absolute irrelevance just to give Joey Q more time to finish his work on OMD. For as mentioned previously, you could jump straight from the end of the ASM Civil War arc to "One More Day" and you wouldn't miss a single beat :cmad: :cmad:

I loved this splash... until I noticed Spidey's deformed foot at the botom of it. That heel just looks ridiculous! :o

Man the whole thing is ridiculous, he needs to learn basic human anatomy.

More pages would be the only thing that would justify the price increase.
Padding out the issue w/ useless fluff and then charging an extra dollar is NOT cool.
In the UK, because of our crappy taxes ASM jumped from costing £1:65 on #543 to costing to £2:40 on #544. Ouch!

This better not continue once ASM goes weekly.

Could not have said it better myself.

I already noted that #543 was a pile of crap when I first offered my thoughts earlier in the BIB thread. There was no conclusion at all, like you say it was just one big none event. Aunt May got shot, admitted to hospital and we learn Kingpin was behind it all so Spidey beats him up. Great, that would have fitted into two issues, not FIVE! Goddamn hack JMS. I really hope Joe Q won’t still be enforcing his lame agendas onto the new ASM writers.

What I really wanna know is why the hell FNSM#24 is not out till 10/10?!
ASM has been delayed all year so far, JQ can't have been drawing these issues since January can he? Oh well, I actually dig his pencils in #544 until we get to the splash at the end and it becomes apparent he can't do dynamic Spidey poses.

Man, i am so worried, after reading this issue and reading over and over how Peter will do "anything" to save May's life, i have a strong feeling May's gona survive all this. Aunt May is an amazing character but come on, its time for her to pass away, she cant be around forever and she's gona die soon enough anyway. There's no way Joe Q can possibly believe that getting rid of MJ and keeping May is gona make the Spider-man books better. I dont wanna sound crude but i really hope May bites the bullet, its about time, and Peter needs to grow up and mature.

...Quit criticizing the story before it’s finished.:o

You have to understand...in the spidey-verse, you can criticize a story on how crappy it is before it's finished, and you'll probably be in the right.

I once thought as you do....then Sins Past and the Other came...and I waited until the last part of each before admitting they were uber-crap. I just don't have enough hope left to believe the story will be golden.

Brand New Day can't get here fast enough....simply because it means the worrying and the hype of "One More Day" will be over.

Peter HAS grown up and matured, unfortunately for us however- that is precisely what Joe Q seems to have a problem with. He wants Peter to revert back at the care free, early twenties bachelor who web slinged his way through Roger Stern’s tenure on ASM. Aunt May represented one of the cornerstones of what made up Peter’s world back then- calling her on his phone, making sure she was ok. You kill Aunt May and you instantly age Peter because even if it is from a gunshot- Aunt May is dead and Peter can never be that guy again.

Of course Aunt May had the perfect send off in #400, it was a beautiful issue but eventually the editorial brought her back. Essentially they were gutless, and I guess they figured she made up an irreplaceable part of the Spidey magic. This is true but people die that is life. You could infer that from them bringing May back after she died the perfect death from natural causes, that they now intend to keep her around forever…who knows. IF she ever does ‘die’ again, there will certainly be an air of cynicism and doubts of credibility of such an event amongst many readers.

I think she should die soon, to help free the Spidey mythos from this quagmire that JQ seems to view it through, but not now from a gunshot. As it stands it’s Peter’s fault and he should not be responsible for his aunts death too. Heck, he would probably throw himself off the Brooklyn bridge! She is obviously going to live through this. After that I would say give her a year of print and then kill her off in the right way.

Or will it?

Will Joe Q continue to force the new writers to explore his whacked out agendas and craptastic story ideas through their issues.

THAT, is what I am worried about.

That is what we all worry about. How long after OMD will Joe Q say, "hm...they bought the hell out of those events....we should do another one!! This time, I want to retcon the Spider-Mobile and Mysterio's plad trousers! They ruined the Spidey mythos!"

I don't know...I'm just hoping that, sometime in the near future, Joey Q becomes an X-Men fanatic, and starts ruining their books instead of Spidey's. (sorry, X-Fans)

A FRIGGING MEN. I'm so sick of people using that tired old line, when we've proven it right OVER AND OVER.

 Spider-Mobile.

Yup. Remember Sins Past? We all chanted that mantra, simply because JMS had never really done us wrong at that point....then he just dropped the ball. Then we get Skin Deep...and many continuity errors in it, then we get the Hydra arc, and we all kind of find our way back, only to be betrayed again by the "OTHER".

Yeah, I'll continue my criticisms. Of course, they won't be as harsh, as this is JMS's LAST FREAKIN' ARC!!

You brought up an interesting point. It defenitley would be sad to see Aunt May go but if they end the marriage but kill off Aunt May then...I guess it would be for a good reason. I mean, Aunt May has always been a character that we adored. She was so kind and loving and always said things like "you know how fragile you are." And lets not forget that she was the one who made Spidey lift all that debris off of him in ASM Issue #38. He did it for his Aunt May because he realized that if he dies, Aunt May would be left all alone and she was sick at the time.

ASM Issue #400 was very sad and fantastic. It was so well told such as Peter by her said and Aunt May saying "it's my time." Theres also ALOT of other great things about that Issue. Now they might be killing her a second time. What I feel is that if she is going to die then I guess have her die. But I'm not sure if her death should be from the gun shot or something else later on as Dangerous said.

That can't happen because that will make OMD pointless.

^ Yeh, well...it seems one ARC makes all sorts of other arcs, continuity, etc, pointless quite often lately.

Sadly, too many events render the previous one a waste of time it seems, these days, under JQ. Especially in the spidey books.

Didn't they kill Aunt May in #400 as part of the clone saga's goal of ushering in a "new" Spider-Man. They had to get rid of her so Peter and Mary Jane would move to Portland. When all THAT went to hell on a roller-coaster they brought May back...

I think she is still needed. She should not die.

Neither should the marriage.

Can you really conceive of any logical way May would want Peter to give up his marriage to MJ for her?

I'm trying to imagine... would I give up the love of my life so that my dear grandmother could live another year? It would be a terrible dilemma if it were actually possible... I don't think I would accept it as the only option.

That can't happen because that will make OMD pointless.

It is conceivable that the ending to OMD will be something we are not expecting, w/ both MJ and May still alive and with Peter.

In any case 'pointless' would be a much better result than Sins Past and The Other.
