That's why I play Bridge, with all the rest of the shnooks.

I don't know what "jake" is. Is that from the same dialect as "macking"?
Different worlds, daddy-o.
You "mack" with a "honey".
You're "jake" with all the cool cats and kittens, dig?
You hep now, junior, or do I need to lay it down on the rebound?
(Someone's going to pull me aside now and beat the cr@p outta me, aren't they?)

OMD stunk ROYALLY, which everyone mostly admits...YET it leads into and IS what BND continues.
So it is not OVER...it is like a bad disease.
And OMD/BND changes continuity in a much larger scope than Sins Past (Again, a story i despise)...but at least we weren't forced to read it either, because we had CHOICES back then in spidey comics.
Now it is either Ultimate Spider-man, or Ultimate-Ultimate Spider-man.
And now, we're reading Pete in situations that are inevitable to copy what's gone before, just as Ultimate has in spots. PEte living with Aunt May again, finding a job again, dating (pointlessly NOW) again, Aunt May finding out he is Spidey again, Aunt May getting sick or attacked again...Pete stressing over hiding things from Aunt May again.
All meanwhile, MJ is in the picture, where we will remember she IS his wife except for the fact that they dealed away everything good to the devil to save a dying old lady, whom no one else in the Marvel Universe could save from a bullet wound conveniently. YEH, REMEMBER THAT POINT next time an x-men, or fantastic four member, or avenger is healded from worse.
Finally, have May die and Peter moves on and grows from this as a person and finally have Peter and Marry-Jane be together.
GREAT POST, probably the best I've read regarding OMD. The choice between Ultimate Spider-Man, or Ultimate-Ultimate Spider-Man makes me want to puke. Of course, the third choice is "none of the above." Re-hashing single Pete living at home does nothing for me. I don't care how many lame new villians they throw at you hoping one will stick. Jackpot? Really? Bookie Joe or Bookie Bob? Really?
THAT is where they should have gone. Losing May would have been brutal and far more meaningful. Those of us who have lost a mother knows how difficult and how life altering it can be. Spider-Man writers could have ridden that emotion and angst for years. Peter bravely moving forward without his moral compass in place is far more interesting then re-hasing the 1980's. Ben being gone followed now by May would've provided the ultimate (NO pun intended) test for Peter. It sure would make him more relatable as the Marvel everyman always drawing bad luck but fighting through the toughest of times. Isn't THAT what Spider-Man has always been about?

i have stated this same thing a few posts ago and i agree completely. Having lost a mother a few years ago i could have related to the story and peter parker which drew me to the character in the first place
I marvel that you guys can go on and on.
I admitted that I'm split on this because of the story,... and who will be writing it.
All I can do is wait and see.
