One More Day Discussion Thread

No, you posted a link to JMS being kicked out of Marvel, but it just goes directly to Newsarama.

Yeah, that was a bad joke. It may prove to be true, though, if this gets anymore heated. I mean, JMS pretty much just called Quesada, Alonso and Brevoort idiots.

But he can use magic to fix it. It doesn't need explanation.

Either way, JMS is exclusive right? They'll keep him until his contract is up and not renew it.

I think there's some small part of me, the same that regularly compels me to type "tmz.com" in my address link, that's seriously enjoying this.

I don't know man. This is pretty unprecedented.

This is almost John Byrne like at this point with 99.9% less assholishness.

It's a word, ok.:cmad:

Either way, business like, he's selling books for them, I can't see them giving that up over an internet spat.

I don't think it's really as heated as we're perceiving it to be. It seems like Joe Q and JMS are being pretty civil towards each other. Granted, JMS' account of the last issue does seem to cast Joe Q and the other editors involved in that diabolical "administrator" role, where they're just getting the job done without any understanding of the craft behind it, but we know Joe Q has no problem whatsoever being vilified.

JMS just implied that the editors of Marvel know nothing of literature.

Which is likely true in this case. They saw an easy avenue to get their jobs done and they took it with no thought of how it actually works because, frankly, they don't need to deal with how it works.

But magic really doesn't need to be explained, or is explained in comics most of the time. [/gildea]

Right, which is why is such a rare thing to see an exclusive creator lambasting and calling out his own company like that.

That's a bit broad. He said they didn't think one thing through in one isolated incident on one comic. It's not like he's ranting about what unartistic clods the entire Marvel editorial staff is across the board or anything.

Yeah, bad comics. :o

He's saying they didn't think it through after being told that they're not thinking it through, and they continued to not think it through because THEY DIDN'T CARE.

Actually, that sort of attitude really does explain why Quesada apparently thought chaos(?) magic was the answer to his woes back in Wandagate.

Heh, "Wandagate." Would this be Mephistogate, then? Or Marriagegate?
