One More Day Discussion Thread

so you're saying that if someone likes somthing that some people dont they have bad tatse?

No I'm saying anyone that reads Spider-Man at all and cares about a good story cannot possibly have liked OMD unless they just have bad taste. You took an obvious example of me not enjoying terrible (I mean make the clone saga look like Shakespeare) writing and you apply that logic to any unpopular stories? Thanks for that Joey Q logic lesson, now go pray to your divine ruler.

My bad then, apologies all around, but come on. I take the single most offensive Spider-Man tale I've ever read and comment that anyone that likes it has bad taste. Sorry it's just true, and it's not because it's unpopular it's because it's bad writing to force a change most of us intelligent readers cannot accept. It's as if Hamlet had lived at the end and gone out to a night club in downtown denmark to throw back a few and forget Ophelia. No matter how brilliant the entire tale was up to that point, that ending would sour everything that came before or after. That's what OMD has done, soured a character through and through without even trying to explain it or reason what the us the readers and customers would want.

All of this brand new day stuff reminds me of Eddie Murphy's old stand up routine.

Paraphrasing here, but it's the woman who holds out on sex for him for a LONG time. He compares it to starving a man senseless over a long period of time, and when you finally give him a cracker, he screams "DAMN! THAT'S a good cracker! That's the best damn cracker I ever had!!!"

So yes...BND is the best Spidey stuff we've had in years. Know why? Because the past few years have been POND SCUM. Nothing against Mr. Slott, but hell, OF COURSE IT'S BETTER!

My question is: WHY did I have to wait for years to get my damn cracker!?! This should have been done years ago, and the marriage would have never had to suffer for it in the hands of a talented writer/artist team.

So for now, Joe Q can STICK that cracker in his ass for all I care.

'Course, Eddie Murphy's a vacuous ass and not just in Shrek. But good analogy.

I would say that we have been getting some good Spidey through the years, though, the problem is that they haven't been in Amazing Spider-Man, which is supposed to be the flagship or whatever. There's been some spectacular Spectacular arcs.

There's been like, one decent Spectacular arc. For good Spider-Man stories, Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane is the book to get.

It's possible I'm in the minority on this as a lot of people seem to have hated the "magic-villains" theme but I actually really enjoyed JMS's run of ASM, at least up to Sins Past and the assorted subsequent nonsense heaped onto the character.

I liked JMS' run other than "Sins Past," "The Other," and his last year on the title.

Agreed, he got too much @hit because of editorial direction. I even liked the BiB story with him kicking the crap out of Kingpin. Though that never happened.

Okay, when fifthfiend is the only one who got the joke, you know that the joke was pretty bad.

Lesson learned.

Your entire Hype existence has essentially become one long OMD joke. Find some new material.

That's all you got, huh? OMD or Whedon?
I've taken to calling people "son" when I feel like being condescending. Playing the averages, it's pretty much a given that every single person here I condescend to is going to be younger than me.

What? You're not into performing satanic rituals over comotose old women instead of living happily with your wife? Get with the times man. This is the stuff that makes Spider-man "relatable" to us.
