"AHHHHGGGGG" Son of a ...." I bit down on my lip. Not gong to give him any more satisfaction. Besides, my metabolism's already healing it.

I think about what Mordru just said. There's never any reasoning with these super powerful beings. With all of their powrs, the only thing they never seem to be able to do is maintain their sanity. Makes me think that no one is supposed to have that much power.

I spin my arms, creating a massive windstorm. Mordru stands up against it, until I turn his own attack against him. I blow all the newly formed quicksand right back at him. Not only does this free me, but the sand granules turn into mini projectiles. Like millions of tiny shard of glass they tear and rip into Mordru's skin. Chunks of flesh peel away, but I don't let up.

Mordru finally loses his footing and is blown away. By that time, I'm free of the quicksand, and my leg has healed.

"Enjoyable, huh?" I run up the Mordru's bloody body, grab it, spin it around, and let it go. He goes flying, smashing into one of the few large trees in the area. "Yeah...I guess it is."

I rush over to Thor and check on him. He's still alive, but barely breathing. I grab his hammer, but it doesn't budge. "Damn." I look up to see the solidified Druid. "Damn." And I see Zatanna meditating. "Whatever you're doing," I whisper at her, "do it faster." Unless Thor gets back on his feet, I'm going to be the only one protecting her.

Then an idea hits me. I've done it for a few teammates over the years, but never tried it on a...well, a god. Don't know if it will work or not. I kneel down by Thor and start lending him my speed. If all goes well, this means he will heal faster, and hopefully be able to give me some help.

If all goes well. And he heals fast enough...
Mordru knocks the large tree off of him with a backhand as he rises to his feet, his bloodied face contorted in a fit of rage.
Reaching out his hand, the Dark Lord weaves a spell on the Flash as he is distracted with the seemingly dead Thor. The spell envelopes Garrick instantly, slowing down time around his entire body. Making the Flash no faster than the average human.
The Dark Lord blasted Jay in the back between the shoulder blades, sending the veteran hero falling face first into the ground. The Dark Lord was upon him instantly, as Mordru grasped the Flash around his neck with a vice-like grip. Lifting him up off of the ground, the Dark Lord began crushing the air from Jay's throat as he beat him senseless with the other hand.
Blow after blow, the Dark Lord beat the now speedless Flash's face bloody.

"I will enjoy this kill the most I think", said the Dark Lord through gritted teeth. Mordru reached back his hand for the killing blow, meaning to blow apart Flash's head like a melon when the word was heard.

Mordru suddenly froze in his tracks, a look of surprise plastered on his face...but so did the Flash and everything else too as the still green Zatanna did not specify her target.

OOC: If you would be a dear and restore Druid I'd appreciate it, Twy. ;)

C'mon Thor, come on. You can't be dead.

I keep focusing, trying to speed up his healing processes. That's when I notice a bird swoop by very very slowly.

Odd...It's wings seem to take forever to flap. But no bird could fly like that, which means it must be me. Why am I slowing down? I boost my speed, but the bird gets slower.

NO! I turn my head excrutiatingly slow just in time to see Mordru rush up from nowhere and grab my throat. "C...c...ca..." can't...breath.......

I struggle, trying to boost my speed, but I can't even raise my hand before I'm struck in the face. I can't even see the blows, and they barely register. Then the pain hits me all at once as my brain catches up to what's happening. I almost lose conciousness from the combination of choking and punches. Now...I...know...how......those I fight...feel...

Then...it all stops. Mordru mercifully comes to a frozen stop. I can't move myself, but at least neither can he. But my accelerated healing is...gone. Can't do...anything. The pain is horrible, but I push it aside. I will not pass out. I will not pass ouuu....

Zod stroked his beard as he pondered, seated restlessly at the head of the council chamber in the ruins of the Vozhnygrad parliament building. Two days had passed since the revolution that drove the Russian military out of the country, and he had gathered all of his new underlings together to discuss how to rebuild his new country.

"My brothers, the first step to creating a free Pokolistan is over. Now begins the most vital part: reconstruction. Among you today are this country's finest, its labor leaders, police officials, community leaders, and military commanders. Here we shall piece together the future of this once beleaguered land, and begin the journey toward piece and prosperity."

More rubbish, of course, but Zod was nothing if not gifted at saying what people wanted to hear. If he was to get anywhere on this wretched planet, he first needed an understanding of where he was and what he had at his disposal.

"Commander Volkoff," Zod addressed the stocky, unshaven man who was still wearing the same filthy olive-drab fatigues from three days earlier, "Report on our tactical situation. What is the current strength of our armed force, and is there any indication of a Russian counter-attack?"

"Well, *cough* sir," the slobbish alien began, seemingly shrinking in Zod's presence, "our overall situation is...difficult to tell. We took the worst losses here in Vozhnygrad, but here alone we still have about eighteen-hundred men able to fight. We've gotten in contact with the units in Dorugolij and Arnnstad, and combined they've got a good six thousand, mostly new recruits over the last few days. There's no word from Zeillinski or the countryside towns, but right now we're estimating over twelve thousand by week's end.

"And the Russians, well, they've all retreated across the border, but one of our cells in Ukraine reported them lining up a few columns of tanks to try to roll in again. I can deploy some of our operatives to sabotage the bridges and highways in the area, but that'll only slow them down until--"

"No need, Commander; I shall deal with the Russian tanks myself. It should keep me entertained for the afternoon," Zod said with a grin. "I want you to inform your subordinates to find all men in their units with proper military training, and have them begin drills, for recruits and otherwise. This army must be composed of soldiers, not petty guerillas."

"Now, Kommissar Borga, how go the diplomatic discussions? Have we managed to obtain any foreign support?"

"Y-y-yes, sir," said a scrawny man with thick glasses, who looked as if he were about to pass out from fear. "W-w-we've gotten a response from our allies in Chechnya and Bosnia pledging t-t-troops, a-and operatives in Uzbekistan have agreed to supply us with weapons. However, both Serbia and Georgia have refuse to give us aid, and we h-haven't heard from the diplomat sent to, errr....Latveria, s-s-sir. But that doesn't come as a surprise....sir."

"And why is that?"

"Well, errrmmm, because of D-D-Doctor Von Doom, sir. He's a powerful warlord, a-and they say he's got technology that's decades ahead of the rest of the world. I've heard rumors, sir, that he's even got magic p-p-powers. But that's o-only rumors, sir. B-but what's true is that n-no one gets in or out of Latveria unless he says so."

The meeting droned on and on, with the filthy Earth-Men bickering about restoring their economy and repairing irrigation routes and providing medical aid to the wounded and other nonsense of that nature. Zod paid no attention, however. He found himself very much intrigued by this "Doctor Doom." If what this vermin says is true, The General mused to himself, then this 'Doom' may very well be the key to returning me to Krypton. I must deal with gathering my forces now, but soon, I will have to see if the lord of Latveria really is the terror these insects claim...

Finally, the meeting ended, and the aliens began filing out of the room. Zod sat, contemplating to himself, plotting his next step.

"Excuse me, General Sir?"

One of the vermin dared to speak to him without being addressed. "I was wondering, sir," the pitiful being continued, "about the Z on your suit?"

Zod glanced at his black armored breastplate, and the red crest on it, one of his own design. He had formed it to display his defiance towards the house of Jor-El, taking their family crest and turning it backwards as a sign of contempt. He had also taken the weak curves of the symbol and straightened them to a powerful angular shape, to show the strength of his convictions. Apparently, it coincidentally resembled a letter of the aliens' alphabet.

...and what do you wish to know about the "Z" on my suit, then? he asked mockingly.

"Well, sir....the design, it....it means that you....you are a Kryptonian, yes?"

Zod sprang up from his chair, shocked and indignant. How could an inferior being like this possibly know about the glorious Mother World? How could such primitive creatures know of a world millions of light years away? Surely this was madness!

"How do you know about Krypton?! Earth-Man, you WILL answer me!!!!

The man was wide-eyed and still, though less out of fear than out of utter surprise. He looked at the General as if he had just been asked the simplest question in the world.

"Why, everyone knows about Krypton, sir. Haven't you heard of the American Superman?"

I walk over to the panal.

"Attention, this is Captain America, Lex, if you can hear this, come to the med lab."

Lex Luthor's limo was patched into Lexcorp's intercom system. And so, he heard Captain America's message echoing from the vehicle.

He stepped into the backseat, and picked up the speaker. The patch into the intercom system worked both ways, so he could always be contacted in an emergency.

"Captain America, this is Lex Luthor. I'm not at Lexcorp Towers right now, I'm at one of my research facilities. What's going on? Who was the man who answered your phone?"

...

Wasn't expecting that.

"Hsalf.....emuser."

I really hope that's the right one.

I can feel Mordru's power straining against my spell, I quickly turn to Druid.

Placing my hand on his stone shoulder I focus, my eyes open, seemingly boring a hole in the stone as I focus on it.

"Diurd nruter sa uoy erew."

...."Hsalf.....emuser."....

I hear something at the edge of the blackness. My brain barely registering. And then the light snaps back into place, my vision clears. I have to squint at brightness.

That's when I realize I can move again. My speed has returned, and I can feel my body quickly healing itself. My nose pops back into place with a loud crack! Sonova*%#$*%*& #*(*# #$*@)( *$&%!$(@!( *#(!

"Ouch..."

It's still hard to breath because Mordru has my neck in a vice-like grip. I pull against his hands, but nothing happens. So I vibrate my body, and slip right through, landing on the ground roughly.

I get up and look over at Zatana. "Thanks." I glance at Mordru. "Nice work," I say to her.

"Sorry about that." I apologize for freezing him as well.

"No, it's not 'nice work,' it's not over yet, I can feel him straining against my spell." I say worried as I wait for Druid.

"Don't worry about me. The important thing is that you caught him. I have faith you can keep him like this. Now we just have to figure out what to do with him."

I look over at Druid who is now a statue of rock frozen in place. Then at Thor, lying on the ground as if dead. Even my attempt to speed up his healing seems to have done nothing.

I walk over and try to pick up his hammer again. We'll need any weapon available if Mordru is able to attack. It still does not budge. Geez, how did he lift this thing?

We need backup, but I can't afford to leave Zatana alone with Mordru. She seems to have the raw power to hold him off, but I don't think she has the training. Once more I remind myself to finish putting a team together, making sure Druid and Zatana get invited, when we get out of this.

And we will get out of this...

The statue that was once Anthony Druid slowly began to move. A twisting of the wrist sent crumbles of concrete dust falling to the Earth below. A crack of the neck and pieces of stone fell to the ground with a thud.
Soon Druid was free from the spell the Lord of Chaos had cast on him. He was stone no more.

Druid did not waste time reveling in his freedom. He quickly looked over the area, taking it all in. Flash was hurt, but was still in the fight. Zatanna, his young pupil, had apparently finished her search for the Crossroads. The portal to that dimension would have to be opened soon.
Then his eyes saw the thunder god. Thor had apparently been beaten again by the Dark Lord's magic as he lay face down in the Earth. Druid cast a minor spell to check on the fallen warrior's vitals, and his eyes went wide when he realized he was dead.

"No", Druid said under his breath as he lamented the noble Asgardian. Still, this was not the time to greave. Druid saw Mordru frozen still, but felt the Dark Lord's power rising. He would not be held at bay for long.

"Zatanna", Druid said as he turned to face the young woman, "you must hurry and open the portal. Flash, you and I must cover her and send the--"

Druid was cut off in mid-sentence as he took a blast of mystic energy right in the face.

Mordru was free.

"It will take more than that to stop me, girl. Much more than you can possibly muster."

"DAMN YOU!!!" I shout.

I rush up, vibrating my arms, and plunge my hands into Mordru's body. Then I partially solidify them and ignore the searing pain I experience, and imagine what Mordru must be going through. This would have probably killed a human, but I think Mordru can take it. Although I find myself hoping he can't.

"Is this better!!! I yell into his face.

God, what is this creature turning me into?

Mordru falters and falls to one knee as the Flash executes a vicious attack. The move is painful, but Mordru has felt worse; Thor's god blast comes to his mind. The Dark Lord rises to one knee.

"It's a...start", replies the Dark Lord through gritted teeth as he reaches out and plunges a partially intangible hand into Flash's chest and wraps his fingers around the speedster's heart.

Meanwhile, Druid rises to his feet and watches the Flash's attack on the Dark Lord.
He's brave, I'll give him that, thinks Druid to himself as he watches the Flash continue the hopeless battle of trying to single-handedly defeat a god.

Druid castes an ancient Druidic spell, and a large vine sprouts from the ground behind the Dark Lord. The vine grows quickly as it wraps itself around Mordru's throat and body, pulling him off of Flash and into the air.

It...feels like a heartattack, but not as good. My heartbeat falters, my body goes into convulsions, but I...refuse...to give...in!

I drop on my back, sucking in all the air I can. My body spasm out of control. The pain is like a fire in my chest. And for a moment...I think my heart gives out!

Then my healing factor kicks in and the pain starts to subside, but it's still hard to breath. I see Mordru held in the air, but can't do anything. Can't even sit up.

Just...just need a moment.

He floated in blackness. He could not move his limbs, nor feel the beat of his heart. Whereever he was, it was far worse than his aunt's realm. He was warrior born and true, but this was a Hel of some far more infernal design.

He was dead, he knew. Fallen in battle against the Dark Lord Mordru, and he had died a warrior's death with his front to the enemy. No Asgardian could wish for a better end.

Yet he was troubled. Only in death had he figured it out. He was not to reign over the humans as their benevolent protector. Midgard did not rely on his strength to protect it. She had her own champions now, brave as any of the Aesir and mighty too.

"Come home, my son."

A voice pierced the darkness that was his death. A voice he knew well.

"Father?"

***********************************************************

Thor's still form rose in the midst of battle. His legs were straight and his arms hung at his sides. His head was bowed, and his eyes were closed, his hair clinging to his face with the sweat of battle. Then, his form began to glow, brighter and brighter. His skin shone like none other.

************************************************************

"Was that thee, father? Hast thou come to visit thine son in his final death?"

There was a warm chuckle, one that Thor remembered. Odin would laugh like that when he was but a godling, and Odin had finished one of the great stories. Odin delighted at his son Thor when thor would ask about the fates of the great heroes, and chuckle when young Thor would make the promise to one day be a hero worthy of the sagas.

"Oh, mine son. Thou art a god of Asgard, and this doom is not the last. Ragnarok is not yet come. But thine time 'pon Midgard, for now, is done."

"No! I shalt not abandon the mortal champions, father! They art too noble to be sacrificed 'gainst the Dark Lord Mordru. I can not let them die as I have!"

"Thor, thou art not dead nor shall this be the doom of the mortal heroes. Their destinies are very great, and much like thine are only now beginning. Thou hast learned what I desired to teach thee. Now, thou shalt return to mine side secretly, without the knowledge of thine brother or the Aesir."

*************************************************************

A shaft of light struck through the clouds and surrounded the glowing Asgardian. Thor dissolved in the sunlight, and so too did Mjolnir. After a few moments, where Thor's body glowed like the morning sun, the shaft of light was gone and with it the god of thunder.

I nod to Druid and hold my hands up focusing on my words as I slowly speak them.

"Urdrom nruter ot eht daorssorc"

I shut my eyes and whispered the locaton as purple energy flowed down my arms and off my outstreached fingers in sparks.

So, let's take a sec to look at the situation...

We've got ourselves one, two,...five...ten Mysterios.

There's Supes, Morph, Sentry, and handsome me. And Morph's just gone off the deep end, jumping into the mess against the Mysterios. And Sentry's been a little iffy lately not helpin' out with all the other bots taken on the city.

Did anyone ever get those giant vines off the Statue of Liberty, or take care of those ugly alien things on the bridge?

I shrug my shoulders.
"What the hell."

I jump on the nearest Mysterio.

"RRRAAAHHHGGGWWWOOOOAAAAA!!!!"
I jump at the closest Mysterio to me as it laughs, and pass right through it!

I hit the ground on my chest and slide across the street into a gutter of...well, I don't know what it's filled with. But this being New York I don't think I want to know, especially since the stuff is now filling my helmet. Good thing I don't need to breath, but this is still really ****ed up! Who writes this ****?

I take my helmet off, and the junk drains out. "Oh, you're gonna ****in' pay for that!" I run up and punch another fishbowl head. My fist goes right through it and drives into the street.

"I. AM. PISSED!"

Uh oh........Looks like its time to kick it with all gears!.......wait didn't he say they were simply illusions?? Hmmmmmm......maybe I could distort the energy around them, make it so the illusion is taken away and we get to see what is REALY under there!

Alright, stand back......I'm gona try something!.......

I start charging myself up, I feel a larg energy blast tucked just right behind my eyes, then I realease it in a widespread blast covering all of these.......aquariums with feet???

ARRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHH!!

The blast is tremendous, even blinding! I wonder what we're gona see under there.

Morph leaped at the Mysterio crowd only to crash into the ground with a very loud thud. He rubbed his sore head and looked around confused. One of the Mysterios made an aim for his head, but something behind them caught his eye.

The Pantry began to glow and everyone around him (illusions included) looked at him fearfully. His eyes glowed eerily and his gazed didn't seem focused on any one illusion.

"Pantry stop this instan-"

Morph's words were enveloped within the almighty glow of the Pantry's attack. Morph sheild his eyes with one hand, and hoped he wasn't about to die.

Another assassin on Fisk's payroll? Lex Luthor certainly wanted to have some words with that tub of goo.

"I'm on my way."

Luthor cut off the intercom feed. He sat back in the limo, calling to his chauffeur.

"Tom, take me back to Lexcorp Towers..."

The Dark Lord struggled against the vines as the twisted around his entire body, squeezing him like a constrictor. A fire burned in Mordru's eyes. The Dark Lord's rage built within him and exploded outward in a wave of burning energy, completely disintegrating the summoned vines of the druidic spell.
The now free Dark Lord now set his sights on the spellcaster in front of him, Anthony Druid.

"I shall enjoy turning you into a lifeless husk, mage", stated Mordru as he descended towards Druid.

The energies from the spell gathered a few yards behind Mordru and, slowly, a spinning vortex began to take shape. As the object grew, Mordru began to feel the pull of the vortex as it began pulling him towards it.

"No! I will not be beaten again!"
Ever defiant, the Dark Lord fought against the magical pull of the portal...and was winning.

Druid, seeing that Mordru would not be sucked in to the vortex, cast a spell to increase his strength and lept at the Dark Lord, engaging him physically and forcing him towards the vortex.

"Flash! I need your help! We must force him through the portal", screamed Druid as he and the Dark Lord continued to struggle.

"NO!!!" I shout as Druid leaps onto Mordru. "Get back!" But it's too late. Druid and Mordru are tangled together in a battle of wills and power, one which Druid will not win.

I have to do something. Force Mordru into the portal. But doing so will certainly seal Druid away with Mordru. I can't consign him to that fate. But...Dammit! If I don't act soon, Mordru's going to escape. This is our only chance.

"Forgive me..." I whisper at Druid. I brace myself and spin my arms. Twin wrilwinds whip up. Faster and faster I spin, the winds ramping up with the effort, blowing against Druid and Mordru. Combined with the pull of the vortex, I can see them inching ever closer to the opening, the ground tearing beneath their feet.

Sweat pours down my brow, my arms feel like they are going to fall off, but I push. "AAAGGHGHHH!!!" I groan against the pain. But I force my arms faster still.

"Why. Won't. You. Fall?!?!"

I let down the darken window between the front and back of the limo. And wearing the driver’s cap over my mask I turn back to Luthor.

“Well we wouldn’t be going to the barbershop now would we?”

His eyes widen in fear…wait a minute…would you look at that, I’ve changed to first person. I guess Red X is as bad writing me as he is making apple pie. Any who, as Luthor panic’s trying to open the door and I crawl through the window and press my pistol against his head.

“Hang on, when did I get my weapons back? And how did I get in here…man this post has more holes than a golf course.”

Confused Luthor looks back blank and his eyebrows inches up his forehead. Never mind, I guess this is the curse of bad writing.

“Ok Luthor, I’ll give you one chance to live…just tell me who played Fonzie in happy days.”

"I see you've copied Electro UK's idea of breaking the fourth wall," says Luthor, stroking his chin.

Realising that only Deadpool is allowed to engage in such shenanigans, Luthor's eyes widen in fear at the gun trained on his head.

"Look, there's no need for a gun, Deadpool. I know your type. You're a mercenary. The one thing you care about is money. And I'm willing to double whatever Fisk is paying you to kill me. I want to hire your services, Deadpool. There's an assassin, calls himself Bullseye. I want you to track him down, and kill him. Then, as I said, I'll double your fee. Do we have a deal?"

Luthor stared at Deadpool, who was considering the offer. The fact that he hadn't shot him yet was surely a good sign.

"And to answer your question - Henry Winkler..."

“I don’t know me trying to kill people is starting to become redundant….What the hell it’s not like I’ve got anything else planned, Gilmore Girls isn’t on for another hour.”

“So where do I find Bullseye?”
