My computer is dying. :csad:

Pretty much every time I start up my computer for the last 4 days, it's just gone through the normal cycle until it should have the big sky background with "Windows 98" and the Windows logo. Instead of doing that, it just comes up with a big black screen and the message "Operating System not Found" and I have to restart 20 times to get it to work right.

It's a Pentium III with an NVIDIA hard drive with Windows 98, 128 megabyte RAM.

What the hell's happening to my computer?

Well, you did ask what was happening with your computer didn't you?

You're still cruising with windows 98!

I strongly suggest you update your PC to another system. Just go to Dell or Alieware, and buy one. It would probably behoove you to purchase a system which has Windows XP or Windows Vista. This would help you stay in tune with the times more effectively and efficiently.

Yeah, it's high time you joined the rest of us.

But, yeah, your hard drive is going to crash. So you need to purchase a new hard drive, then reload it with Win98 (good luck), and then find all the drivers for your box (again good luck). So if you can do this yourself, then it might be cheaper (if you don't factor in your time). If you have someone do it for you, they will laugh at you and charge you out the nose.

So long story short, buy a new box.

  1. No, Dell is utter crap. Do not purchase their merchandise!
  2. Microsoft doesn't produce anything older than XP so isn't it redundant to tell him to get XP or Vista?

And you'll have a hard time getting XP now.
