Just thought I would start a thread for people to vent their frustrations with the series. you watch the show but hate what's happening. So if you hate or are frustrated with something about this series go ahead and vent here.

I will start. The whole blur thing is dumb. All the winks to stuff also are frustrating. The new "suit" makes him look more like one of green arrows posse.

honestly dude, i admire your courage, but personally, from what i've gathered here, this thread ain't gonna be popular.

sincerely tho, i hope it works out, as i think that any critisism can be viewed constructively, and improve upon things:woot:

i say kill cat grant (shield version)

There is a difference between what you said & what fanboy's do. People here have a way of sometimes not thinking about what they say & as a result end up nitpicking about something that was actually made quite clear from an episode & they just missed it. I've seen it millions of times. The most recent is someone over in the Shield thread complaining that Deadshot shot Clark with a bullet a second time when he should have known the first time that bullet's can't hurt him. of course if this person were watching the episode instead of getting finger trigger happy they would have seen that the object was not to kill Clark, but mark him for tracking, as was shown quite clearly. Some people are so eager to hate that they miss the simple thing's that this show does right. Maybe we should make a thread for that & actually spread some positivity about the show for once instead of acting like selfish, whiney brats.

Perfectly said MAN O STEEL.

Deadshot being the father of Cat's kid was a fact around here for a few seconds, just because he said "I liked you better as a blonde", lol.

Right on. You tell it as it is, that's what I like about you.

There are people that simply live to complain around here, constantly *****ing and moaning about how much they dislike the show, the acting, plots and so on, which leaves me kinda puzzled as to just what the F they're doing on this forum? It's common frikkin' sense that if something annoys you as much as some say Smallville does, than why O why, take the time to come here, log in, write a lengthy detailed post about how much it irritates them when Smallville does this and that, post it and keep the discussion going for page after page? It's one thing when it comes to movies, because that's a one thing deal, but a tv-series where you have the choice to quit watching if it doesn't interest you, and you still don't, but still find the strength to come here and ***** about it week after week??

This post was not about the thread starter, but constant crap that I see around here from posters that honestly seem to post mainly to piss of the fans.

I am sure that the creepy fans at Kryptonsite are complaining about no more Chloe in the Opening Credits :awesome:

1) subject matter interests me, but the qualitative level of delivery has always been pretty pathetic. It's been much better since the season 8 revolution, but still, things like a Cat Grant that is completely out of character really grind my gears. And they do this ALL the time. They do a lot of things right on SV, but it is fully offset by the idiocy they often deliver. (like did you hear the letter chloe wrote... 'my knight in shinning leather'... who ever wrote that line should be banished from writing for all eternity (along with who ever wrote all of chloe's one liners). So there, I like Superman, I like Smallville for that reason. It doesn't mean the SV should win any awards. And it doesn't mean that I'm not going to harp on it when it feels like it has been written BY a pre teen (rather than for a pre teen).

2) I don't care about the hardcore fans, they are blinded by their love of the show, and it's from them that one usually gets the 'you don't like it, don't watch it'... which is a BS excuse for not being able to defend ones opinions against others. Moreover, its always these same people, who, when another poster tries to make a thread concerning their annoyance with SV, come in and again complain about why they don't understand how people don't like this show and watch it. (have you ever asked yourself if these people want to like the show? probably not)

3) invested time, is a sunk cost. Why would I just piss away all that invested time, and miss the final season?

I'm not going to defend Smallville for everything it does, because there are a lot of things I don't like about it as well, I just don't spend day after day complaining about it. The main point of the post which you seemed to have missed was why take the time to ***** about it and be persistent about it? THAT is the annoying part about certain people around here, and on every other forum for that matter.

2) I don't care about the hardcore fans, they are blinded by their love of the show
Neither do I. You may have made the mistake of confusing me with one.
I am a fan of Superman first and foremost. Yes I have been vocal in the past about Welling being cast as superman in the movies, but that was because that's where the hearts desire truly lies, in the movies, not the tv show with limited resources.
and it's from them that one usually gets the 'you don't like it, don't watch it'... which is a BS excuse for not being able to defend ones opinions against others.

You make a lot of assumptions here. I barely post here, and rarely do I remark my annoyance with posters that ***** about every little thing.
After years of the same crap from people, it just reaches a certain level where it I roll my eyes so frikkin much at these utterly ridiculous complaints that it literally starts to hurt. Same ****, same posters. It's a tv show about a God damn alien, that just happens to look like the people on the planet he landed on. He just happens to have superpowers, and parting his hair differently and wearing glasses is why people don't recognize him. The whole concept demands that you accept certain things about this character, suspension of disbelief is necessary . Smallville is no different. They don't have the greatest writers in the world, nor the budget to do the character justice the way fans would like to see it get done. People should have come to some sort of conclusion about this after a few seasons of smallville, clearly you are not one of them.

nice idea for thread for me first thing i will talk about i hated over the course of the series was how they handled the lana character. She was ok in the first two seasons, then they just seemed to not know what the hell to do with her. So she kept getting all those silly story lines. The second thing i would say is that during seasons 5-7 sucked a tad with clark's progression pretty much not going any where. I have other thoughts too but these are my first ones i could think of off the top of my head.

it's the final season, lets enjoy the ride. we know what he becomes in the final episode. :supes:

If we are only listing negitive things heres one;

I somewhat agree with the original poster that the Blur thing is stupid. To some aspect I don't have a problem with people knowing Clark as something else other than Superman prior to him becoming Superman. I don't feel there is any need whatsoever for a suit/outfit though.. no one ever sees it making it needs to pointless.

From a personal viewpoint I much prefare Superman origin stories that explains alot of the things Clark does unseen as miricles etc. I forget which origin it is.. maybe Birthright, where Ma & Pa Kent kept a scrapbook of all the saves Clark had made unseen.. one headline read something like "Bridge miraculously holds until people get off/clear", It doesn't imply anyone saved or held up the bridge but the reader instantly knows Clark was under it holding it up.

Isn't really a complaint/distain/frustration more just something I prefare over whats happened on Smallville, isn't to say I don't enjoy what I've seen on Smallville.. I just think my prefared way would have been better.. :O

I like this thread.

Honestly, I am not a huge Smallville follower. I enjoyed the first season (even with the krypto-freaks) and I think I trailed off the series during the second or third season. I didn't like the direction they were going, but I did pop up in for special episodes (the aquaman, jla, legion, supergirl, Doomsday, and jsa episodes). Now Im back for the last season to see how they wrap this thing up!

To a casual viewer like myself, the thing that frustrates me the most about Smallville is the great amount of liberties the writers seem to have taken with the source material.

Lois and so many others knowing about Clark's powers is the biggest one for me.

It just takes me out of what I thought I was going to get with this series ( a story about Clark coming to terms with this abilities while trying to keep a low profile).

For better or worse it really feels like an alternate realty Clark. Like he will have no secret identity at all (unless they write something akin to Superman 2's super-kiss. . .which would be lame). I wonder how die-hard fans would feel about an Identity-less Superman at the end of the series?

From what I have seen, I am also very surprised that the writers of this show didn't get more mileage from The Legion. I thought it would have been excellent to have a season dominated by these shadowy kids (from the future) subtly guiding Clark into the hero we know he will be. With Clark using every ounce of his investigative reporter side to figure out who the hell these kids are!

well yea the show has made some bad mistakes over the yrs but i still think the good outweighs the bad. As for losh characters they probably only wanted to make them show up once in awhile and u know its all about who is free and not free and what the network/studio and writers want.

I've never been a fan of Smallville's dialogue, especially the lines written for Chloe and sometimes Lois. Lois's lines come off very wordy and awkward, with pop culture references people really wouldn't make. Chloe's lines are again very wordy, mixed in with oddball technobabble and silly phrases, "My knight in shining leather."

Maybe it's because the dialogue just recently started to bug me, but I honestly don't remember Chloe speaking in that manner in early seasons. It's like they turned up the cheese factor to 11 during Season Eight.

There's other little things that bother me about how things are written on the show, but I honestly don't feel like going into detail right now as I just woke up. :D

True. Although, personally I think the writers/studio missed an opportunity to cleverly stretch the premise of the show. How many episode have the losh characters showed up in total?

as of right now only 2 episodes with 3rd coming with 200th with brainiac 5(being played by marsters) coming to the present.

I made the thread since I couldn't find one that let me voice my disdain or frustration with the show. I still watch but somethings just frustrate me about the changes or the universe they created. There are lots of people who feel this way but are worried people will just disregard them as fanboys or haters. This is a place to vent about the show. Your opinions are welcome. Remember taste is subjective.

I'm liking the sensible post so far. All opinions about the show are valid complaints I too share. As far as people saying why watch if i don't like it. I would say i like somethings about the show like the powers and superheroes.

For all the smallville fans who love the show and think everything is great about it read the thread topic. Criticism about the show is welcome here. This thread might actually keep some of us from posting in the other threads so look at it that way. No show is perfect so there needs to be someplace to voice criticism.

Three things that annoy me about Smallville.

1. Lana Lang after season 3, she just became annoying.

2. Other future superheroes takeing up their mantiles before Clark.

3. Other survivors of Krypton, they made Kal-El/Clark out to be the last kryptonian for the first 4 seasons. Then all at once other kryptonian just started coming out of the woodwork.

Yeah the appearance of all the kandorians, then they finally get powers and can fly immediately. I have to say everyone flying but Clark is the most frustrating. The carrot can dangle for only so long. Him flying this season will be the definition of too little too late.

Yeah, as stated in my original post in this thread, my criticism wasn't about you, like at all. It was about certain other posters sthat have annoyed me for a long time now.
There ARE plenty of things to complain about when it comes to Smallville. The thing is, I accepted Smallville for what it is a long time ago.
The cheesy one-liners from Chloe to this day still manage to annoy me. Lois in general annoys me, well a a lot of the time anyway. The plot holes, inconsistencies, how people constantly suffer head injuries and forget what took place in one episode, usually a plot regarding Clarks powers and such matters which the writers needed for one particular episode only to pretend it never happened in the next episode. The constant teasing with references to Supermans grown up life, the blur outfit, especially the new one annoys me, it makes Welling look fat. The budget restraints, it's a poor looking show compared to it's previous seasons, and the list goes on, and on and on.
Point being, If I ( speaking only about myself here) were to start complaining about every little thing that annoys me about Smallville, that would pretty much ruin my appreciation for it. So I decided to just not bother anymore. Years ago I kind of gave up, and decided to purely focus on the good stuff, and let the other stuff just slide because its not the movies, they don't have to time polish their scripts, don't have the massive budgets to bring the truly spectacular stuff that they know we want to see, and the actors barely have time to rehearse their scenes together because time is money and we know that Smallville has a very limited amount of it.
I guess I came off a little harsh because I forget that people aren't as forgiving towards the show as I am. And why am I forgiving? Because it's about my favorite superhero, that's why.

Ah cool. I thought I had missed a legion episode. Marsters playing brainiac 5 should be pretty nice, Im looking forward to that!

There are so many people that confuse criticism with complaining, misjuevos. Criticism is out there to give others a different perspective on something's weak points - so it's refreshing to see a Frustrations About Smallville thread :awesome:

I'll agree to points (1) and (2) but I'd let 3 slide since that has been done a lot in the comics.

For the record, it annoys me in the comics as well.

Yeah I know it wasn't about me. I just felt I should clarify my position and the purpose of the thread. I welcome all comments.

I hate that they can't use or even mention bats, ww and green lantern. I understand why it happens in marvel movies because of different studios producing. But, this not the situation with Smallville. People are smart enough to realize thee differenced between tv and a movie.

Yeah with all the aliens comin to earth you would think a green lantern would do his job and check out the recent activity.
