The Force Awakens Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron

Am I the only one who would love to see Poe hooking up with Finn in Episode VIII? I know Finn had been flirting with Rey throughout the movie, but I don't really like that pairing very much.

I just prefer Finn and Poe's bromance and think they got a pretty fresh thing going for what that is I'd like to see Finn and Rey together or stay as friends (though I don't think you always need romance, but this is a space opera so I'm not putting much stock in it) and possibly introduce someone for Finn. But Rey is a little more interesting because we've already seen them together plus it could really test the whole attachment idea where Rey could really be the one to buck the trend and be perfectly fine.

I get that shippers gonna ship, but it's unfortunate to me that seemingly every friendship that appears in a popular work gets extrapolated to be a romantic or sexual thing. Why can't two characters just be friends? When I look at Finn and Poe I see genuine brotherhood that was compelling to watch.

To play devil's advocate, you generally don't see many of these types of relationships in these types of movies between two males become romantic. So maybe it's partially wish fulfillment or projecting. I think the other part is that if the women find these two men attractive, then they would also find them hooking up equally attractive.

Also as Rurutie says in Utwarerurumono, "Friendship between men is wonderful."

Agreed, to me they were simply 2 people who hit it off straight away and became best friends pretty quickly. Personally I only want to see that friendship grow in the sequel, nothing more needs to be added.

I generally find most shippers annoying because of the ship wars and the bombardment of fanart and fanficton in online groups and forums. They take a lot of the fun out of these possible pairings in various media.

Y'all acting like that scene where Finn and Poe saw eachother for the first time after getting separated wasn't the most Nicholas Sparks s*** you've ever seen. :o

MARVEL ANNOUNCES "STAR WARS: POE DAMERON" SERIES
http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/marvel-announces-poe-dameron-series-from-soule-noto

The series will be set prior to the events of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," in the gap between "Return of the Jedi" and the latest Star Wars film. The series will also introduce a new threat from the First Order that will serve as Poe's primary antagonist, with Soule commenting that the new villain "is going to feel fresh and cool." BB-8 and some of the newly introduced X-wing pilots will round out Poe's supporting cast.

"Poe Dameron" will be the second series set in that 30-year gap, following last year's "Journey to the Force Awakens - Shattered Empire" limited series. A prose novel, "Before the Awakening," also explored Poe Dameron in this time period.

"Star Wars: Poe Dameron" arrives in April.

Now that's a comic series that is actually worthwhile and has potential. Poe screams adventure.

Very exciting. I do agree though Marvel has just been knocking it out of the park left and right since last year. The Star Wars series, Darth Vader, Kanan, Lando, Chewbacca, Shattered Empire. The Princess Leia comic line was the only disappointing one. But even the Annuals for both Star Wars and Darth Vader were excellent.

So the Poe Dameron one just seems to be continuing what great work Marvel has already done. I should be getting my Obi-Wan and Anakin #1 soon in the mail.

Most of the ongoing Star Wars comic series right now are worthwhile as well FYI.

When I say that I always refer to how C-3PO got his red arm. :funny: Even if it's a one issue... for ****'s sake.

I bought the Shattered Empire trade yesterday. Haven't read it yet, but seeing the aftermath of ROTJ, that is canon with The Force Awakens (plus [blackout]Poe's parents[/blackout]), is just too good to pass up.

I have not even looked to see if SW/Darth Vader have their trades out yet. I would recommend to get those.

Agreed for the most part. Just disagree on Leia. It's not my favourite mini, that's Lando, but I'd put it above Chewbacca and Kanan.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts. :yay:

Hope you end up enjoying it, Sawyer. :yay:

They both have volumes 1 and 2 out, everything up to Vader Down.

I cannot explain how much I am looking forward to this series. Rogue Squadron, with a stronger lead protagonist? Yes please.

Poe comic! Hell yeah, I hope it's good.

The oversized hardcover edition of SW is up for pre-order on Amazon, too. It collects the first two arcs and will be released mid-September. I assume DV will follow soon enough.

I've been waiting for these. :D

One thing I have to say about Marvel's Star Wars books: at least they aren't dramatically overpriced, like their other stuff.

All New X-Men - wafer thin, maybe five issues of story, $24.99 please! Pass. :o

Ah did not know they were released yet. I've really liked the Vader Down arc so far. I think I only have two issues left for it.

Yeah, Vader Down was a nice crossover. I like how they've handled interconnecting the two series a lot, especially with the clever ending of the first volumes.

I need his mom to show up again. In an A-wing.

Yeah that was great.

I do wonder when they will move from between ANH and ESB to ESB and ROTJ.

I would think not for a long time, if ever. The idea is that this is a revival of the original Marvel series and I don't think that ever moved into that time period, but I may be wrong.
