Arguably Spider-Man's greatest enemy, who should play the good doctor in the new series?
:otto:

My vote- Rainn Wilson; he's got the hair, the head, and he plays an evil genius like nobody's business. His short performance as the Joker makes Ledger look like a ****ing mime.

All jokes aside, who do you think should helm Dr. Octopus?

I was thinking about making this thread... But I have no suggestions. :csad:

I personally don't think anybody can beat Molina. I think his character in SM2 could arguably be one of the best villains ever. The look of the character and Molina's portrayal was amazing to me. It will be very very hard to top that and I just don't think they can...especially not on that lame budget.

Hasn't the only news on the budget been for the reboot and not it's sequels? Sequels can always get a higher budget, especially if the first one is successful. The Terminator was given a relatively small amount; T2 on the other hand, was given much, much more and revolutionized special effects.

i laughed at your rainn wilson recommendation at first, but the more i think about it....it could work

If it's based on Ultimate Doc Ock, then you're looking for a slightly younger and sleeker actor to play Doc Ock, as that's how Ultimate Ock looks:

I'd go with Billy Zane for a younger Doctor Octopus...or Sam Neill if they wanna keep him as an older character.

I was talking about this film's budget. I don't know what the sequel budget is. If we aren't talking about this movie, then there really is no point in choosing villains and casting them when we don't even know who is in the first movie. So no, if they go with Doc Ock for this first film, it would suck.

The first Spider-Man movie had a budget nearly twice this 10 years ago...what does that tell you?

Bear with me on this selection, because it's a little weird.

For someone like Doc Ock, a primarily comedic actor works wonders. Someone who can be the charming, but focused as Dr. Octavious, and evil but restrained as Dr. Octopus.

If you're going older, Robin Williams. Watch movies like 'World's Greatest Dad,' 'One Hour Photo,' Chris Nolan's 'Insomnia,' and 'Good Will Hunting.' He can be witty and dark and brooding and evil and, when he's restrained, he can bring such a creepy layer to the character.

If you want to go younger, I like 'Shaun of the Dead's' Dylan Moran. He can play smarmy and arrogant better than most, and he's got a real edge when he wants one.

How about Jack Black? He showed that he could play the bad guy very well in PJ King Kong and he absolutly has the look.
Molina was much to big imo.

No Jack Black, I know he played a sorta serious character in King Kong, but he's pretty much in the realm of comedy. I think they need to cast an actor who stars in mostly serious and dramatic roles.

Haha some fanpicks over here are pretty...weird

Ah, come on. Are we supposed to wait two years before we can start talking about one of the biggest characters in the mythos? This thread is for ideas to bounce off one another and compare thoughts on possible actors for Ock. Its not like we're counting down until an official announcement.

Tells me Sony needs to get their **** straight

I had never even considered him before. You sold me! For real. He could pull it off and he would be different from the last Otto.

All they gotta do is make him like the comic book. a lot less charming and little more of a jerk.

Stellen Skarsgard
Phillip Seymoure Hoffman
Sam Neil

Wasn't Sam Neil considered by Raimi? Along with Christopher Walken?

What about Michael Ironside? That voice would be intimidating as heck.

If Sony plans on doing 6 movies, then I would wait and use him later on. I think it's too soon to use Doc Ock after Molina's performance.

Reboot at least in this instance means everyone must go. Old blood need not apply.
