Spiderman 2, Winter Soldier, X2 and The Dark Knight are all in their little corner of the cbm world as the gold standard, IMO. And they all just happen to be the second installments in their respective trilogies. I'd say Spiderman 2 has to be my favorite out of all of them, but they're so good that I just have to base that on which is my favorite comic book out of the 4

(And yes, I place Winter Soldier on the same pedestal as TDK, X2 and S2, I just love it.)

I am a slightly bigger fan of SM2 than I am of TDK but they're both fantastic movies.

Dark knight rises slightly ahead of sm2 because of the soundtrack. If not then dark knight rises and sm2 are tied has the top 2 CBM.

I agree so much with you.

The Winter Soldier is just THAT good. It really blew me away and I can't wait to give it another watch!

Not only was it completely solid on every creative and performance level, but it showed how superhero movies can become more than their genre. It went full on political thriller, so much so that Robert Redford was the villain, and I hope it encourages other superhero films to escape from the generic and be something different.

TASM2 was just a comic book movie and nothing more. Spider-Man films in the future need to go out of just the comic book "genre" and do something different.

I think it's fair to say many of Spider-man' villains are heavily inspired by horror fiction. So, I'd say why not go Horror Comedy? Idk, just a suggestion. Drew Goddard, the dude working on S6 (as far as we know lol), directed a truly awesome horror comedy with Cabin in the Woods, so if he was brought to a spidey reboot, he could really embrace those horror elements that make spidey villains so awesome!

Well Sam Raimi certainly embraced the horror themes on occasion in his movies. If Goddard ends up making the Sinister Six film then it would be cool to see him do something similar.

Though it would be cool to see a Spider-Man crime or detective story (e.g. Death of Jean DeWolff) or perhaps a dark character study like Kraven's Last Hunt. But I think Marvel would give us something very bright and fun for a Spider-Man movie if they got a chance.

Yup, Raimi was an acclaimed horror director so it he nailed those horror elements. And yea, marvel would probably go brighter and fun for the first one. But another genre that works particularly well, specifically with Mysterio, would be psychological thriller. And death of Jane Dewolff would be a great fit for a darker, more gritty crime drama.

For their next time out, they should do mysterio, and infuse psychological thriller elements with a fun, action packed tone.

So many great things can be done with Spider-Man. Sony has missed so many great opportunities.

Best Superhero movie is The Dark Knight. Hands down, the best. :batman:
Darn it, Maooz, a Pats fan and a TDK purist! :o

I jest, TDK is great, but I'd still place Spiderman 2 and TWS above it.

Oh lol. So has you can see form my sig my favorite CBM of all time is dark knight rises. Where would you put dark knight rises amone CBM?
Hmmmm... It's definitely way up there, at least in my top 5 for sure. It's hard for me to do a full Top 10, but it's probably right up there as my #3 favorite just after TASM 2 & 1, which are my favorites of all of them.

TDK and SM2 are the top two CBM of all-time, in my opinion. Despite me being a Spidey fan, I can't decide which one is better.

Whatever replaces either of those films will truly have to be another game changing, iconic CBM.

Wow even though I like both asm1 and 2 I think you are the only person I know that has both asm 1 and 2 has the top 2 lol. What about sm2 and the rest of the dark knight trilogy?

See, I told you I'm obsessed with those movies. :funny:

I'm not sure about the rest of my list because it changes a lot. But SM-1 & 2, Batman Begins, TDK, Daredevil, Kick-Ass are probably all on there somewhere. Probably some more I'm not thinking of right now.

I usually just go ahead and say that I like SM2 more since I like Spider-Man more than Batman. I don't think I can really decide on which one is definitively better though.

The film that tops either one really does need to be a game changer CBM. I suppose "Batman vs. Superman" has the potential to be better than TDK but I am not counting on that. I don't know what will top SM2 though.

TASM2:up::D:bow::applaud ....my favourite CBM of all time. Nothing comes close to beating it :D

Well, if we're talking favorites, then yeah, TASM2 is pretty far up there.

TDK and SM2, it's hard to compare them, they're just so different and awesome in their own ways.

TDK and SM2 are probably my top 2.I can't wait for the future years of cbm though, will be so exiting every summer!:woot::woot:
