Batman Begins Overrated?

Simple question, after multiple viewings over the last year, is it possible BB is overrated?

yes it is, it's a pretty good movie, but not the best like everyone seems to think it is.

Very good movie indeed. But the flaws ruined big part of it for me.

Hype definitely lived up to its name on this one. Did the same with spidey and spidey 2. I think maybe its because there are a lot of youngsters who just haven't seen many better movies or something and don't have much perspective to judge films... not sure. But it's like when fantastic four came out and I visited that board. I didn't need to see the movie to know it was a forgettable pile of nothing, but if you were there back then you'd think the movie was a masterpiece it got so much praise.

Definitely overrtated. I enjoyed the Rachael character and some other stuff, but I don't put it on a pedestal and worship it like many do, even with my inwt in my sig. That's only because Nolan has my trust more now for secret reasons.

Anyway, yeah, eh a good movie with wonderful neeson performance and katie holmes, not a friggin gone with the wind though.

Hype? There was practically none going in. The only ones feeling any heat were the Batman fans. Everyone else was too busy getting Jessica Alba and the other 4 shoved down they're throats.

I can honestly say that the film is perfection in my eyes. It really hit the G-spot ("bbbabbyyy!!") for me. I can die happy after seeing this film.

In all honesty, Batman Begins isn't the movie a lot say it is. Is it good? It's GREAT! But like El Payaso said, it has some major flaws. Ones that should have been fixed by the time the movie came out.

I chose the second option.

I would say it's overrated, yeah. I love the movie, it's one of my favorite movies, and I think it's one of the best movies around, but it's hardly the be-all end-all to Batman films like a lot of people claim it to be.

I agree with Cconn.

But it depends on how you interpret the term overrated in this case

its over rated in the sense that some think its literally the greatest movie ever made.

I dont think it is over-rated at all, i consider it the current pinnacle of CB movies by some way, i think it is an amazing movie, not the best ever, but in terms of CB movies it is.

It is a sorta hard question cause you've got the real BB nuts (I don't mean you CBB:(), and you have non-Batman and non-comic book fans. For the latter category, I think BB's held in pretty much the perfect regard, but for the former...that's where it becomes a bit dicey.

I love this movie We gotten the best Bruce/Batman story on screen and no I don't think it is overrated. :down.

I don't think it's overrated when people call it the best Batman movie, the best comic book movie, and a good film in general. Doesn't mean nothing/another new Batman movie couldn't top it. When people go beyond this praise, calling it a masterpiece, then it's overrated. Could definitely have been "more Batman" and significantly better overall. But still, quite good as it is.

The only reason why many people call Batman Begins "overrated" because of the often hyperbolic comments by many of it's fans. Ergo, people get pissed at such unconditional praise and label it "overrated". I've yet to come across a reasonable person who doesn't attest to the fact that Batman Begins is a good, perhaps even great film.

"But it's not the best, most flawless film evah like many Batman fans say it is!" you say? Well, d'uh. That doesn't mean it's "overrated".

Fenrir,

Using that shody logic, give us an example of a legitimate overrated movie.

Titanic. Some people think it's the best movie ever because it won 11 Oscars, but fail to consider the fact that most of them were for technical achievements and not artistic merit. Oh and please do refrain from making juvenile comments like "shoddy logic". There's nothing wrong with my logic. The only problem here is posters getting pissed off by Batman fans calling Begins the second advent of Jesus, yet don't even realize the fact that everywhere else in the world (which is NOT related to comic books and superheroes), people don't think as highly of the film.

it's the best batman movie ever but it's missing the same thing that all batman movie have detective work.batman is the greatest detective ever but none of the movies about him have any crime or mystery elements.

BB fans rate it 10/10. People like me think it's an 8/10. Hence, we think it's over-rated. Where does the psychoanalysis comes from in order to tell what people exactly think when they vote?

I voted, 'yes, but still a good movie', there's no big deal or big negativity about it. It's just it's not 100% positive, but only 80%. I'm of the belief people can live with that.

TITANIC?!? That was a great movie in every way speaking! It had artistic creativity. Awesome backdrops. Awesome ship model. Believe me, Fenrir. Titanic, although it was really long, deserved all 11 Oscars.

I call things what I think they are. I'm not calling -you- shody. Just calling your logic shody. Shody logic. See?

What does that have to do with anything?

The person making this thread obviously had the intention of saying Batman Begins was overrated WITHIN THE FANBASE.

Everyone else in the world is either a Bat-hater, or just don't give two craps about the franchise anyway. So taking into account non-super hero-fan's opinions is kind of inane.

then you probably think Gone With the Wind is a bad movie

I guess I'd give it about a 9/10. It's not so much I think the movie itself is majorly flawed or anything, but that the character of Batman can't be defined by a single person's interpretation. IMO. :o

Was that supposed to make sense? Or were you going for "zany ******ed dude" type comedy?

I do that a lot. :(

Well, it was only a matter of time but somebody finally said it. I knew most Hype people thought it. Being a fan of FILMS means like any kind of film, any genre, any actors, any directors, so long as they're good. You don't have to be a Batman hater to think BB was over rated. I love Batman but I think BB was very bad in some parts.

Yes it does! That's what overrated means! People saying it is better than it is - i.e. "rating" it "over" it's actual quality level.
