i dont think anyone thinks that del Toro would go over budget. sometimes the studio demands changes that forces directors to go over budget.
Sure, I don't think anyone's really thinking he'll be going over budget. I think people are just making the point that you always get a more expensive looking movie with GDT. He certainly gives you more bang for your buck.

I assume this will be a definite 3D watch for me... I'll see how good the movie looks first.

I'll definitely be seeing this in 2d. This film was never planned for or filmed with 3d in mind.

2D for me also. of course Del Toro could knew that WB would do this.

Hell, he knew about Hobbit I'm sure. I don't know what his opinion is on 3D. I know it's cool to hate it in the industry but I suspect with his whole geeky retro fanboy vibe he actually doesn't mind it that much.

I don't know what his opinion is on 3D. I.
its 2010. but i think he still thinks the same.

del Toro needs a hit. he needs a movie that will not underperform IMO. so i hope everything will be good with Pacific Rim.

of course not promoting the movie is a big risk IMO. is this a movie that will be easy to sell to the public ? in f.... hell NO. good luck

GDT has spoken about how the scale of the robots and things are so huge that 3d would be ineffective.

I never see post converted 3D movies. If its not in the plan visually, why go see it in 3D?

There are just very few live action post coveted 3D films that I actually really enjoyed.

The Titanic re-release and The Avengers beg to differ. They weren't overly dark like hastily-converted films were, and the former had some amazing 3D depth. Honestly, Titanic 3D looked like it was shot in native 3D, that's how thorough and detailed it was.

If you had an agrument to make, you just threw it out of the window. And that's for 3D haters too.

I had no argument to make. It's called joking. Didn't think I had to include a smiley in the post for that to be apparent.

I was blown away by the 3D, the depth and focus on that was far better than some of the actual films that was shot in 3D. I just hope he starts working on Terminator 2 in 3D.
