I know they've kind of cornered the market on this type of thing in live action, but this would be one of the first ones to actually go mainstream. Some will dig it, some will say "we did it already and better." Every country thinks their version of *insert here* is the best.

Id say the Japanese would eat it up.

Sounds awesome btw.

The Japanese lol. I'm really curious though if they'll go ape **** for this and eat it up or if they'll turn those noses up to it.

I'm not going to speak for an entire country BUT I don't think the Japanese give a ****. Why would they?

i want to see some pics already. especially pics of Charlie Day, LOL

I really doubt they'll turn their noses up on it, especially considering that they haven't done any on the scale of a $200 million+ possible CGI fest.

Giant mechas fighting giant monsters with Del Toro's visuals...

Sounds great but I'm slightly disappointed that Idris Elba, currently my favourite actor, isn't the lead for this as was once reported. I'm sure as always he'll be awesome but the prospect of Elba headlining a summer blockbuster is way overdue.

Strike 1 for me with the plot synopsis. I got no issue with robots and giant monsters fighting. That I'm very much looking forward to. However, I am a BIG TIME mecha fan. I like my mecha to be designed in a specific way, and while I make expections, sometimes things rub me the wrong way. With Pacific Rim, it's the whole Jaegers being piloted by two people with their minds. That's...not really how I like it. I prefer it the normal way, one pilot (or two, I don't mind two) controlling the robot with gears and controll sticks, etc. Not totally dimissing the movie yet. It still has tons of chances to impress me (which I'm sure it will) with the Jaeger and Kaiju designs.

I'm really excited for this due to the talent and the story sounding somewhat like Neon Genesis Evangelion but a lot of that anticipation can wither away depending on how the mech designs look like.

Hope they're awesome.

so you'd rather him conform to cliche?

I don't care if they pilot the things with their feet, this sounds ****ing awesome.

yeah I feel that the mechs having 2 pilots works better from a character stand point, you have two people who have to work in perfect synchronization, you don't just hop in the cock pit and do that, it's something the two people have to work up to, develop a relationship, a connection. It just makes for more complex storytelling and characterization. I really look forward to seeing this play out.

Reminds me of G Gundam sort of. I like it as well.

Just hope the design of the mech themselves are awesome.

I wonder if Rinko is going to have that cliche anime chick look.

Big chance I'd say.

Probably the The Hobbit 1st theatrical trailer, MOS teaser & Pacific Rim teaser.

Hey it's just a matter of personal taste. I like my mecha to have single seater cockpits controlled by hand and legs, not the minds.

I did say that having two pilots isn't a big deal though didn't I? So really, it's just the mind thing.

WB debuting the trailers for that many of their movies before TDKR will be crazy. It would be kinda weird to see the WB logo three times in a row, and then once more for the movie itself.
