Swiss director Ben Hibon has been hired to direct a fantasy action thriller called Pan. Who's Ben Hibon you ask? He directed that cool animated sequence in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.
This new film Pan is the classic story of Peter Pan, but with a dark and disturbing twist. The film follows Captain Hook as a haunted former police detective in pursuit of a childlike kidnapper, known as Peter Pan.

It's like they are giving Peter Pan the Dark Knight makeover. I love the concept, and it's definitely something I'd be interested in watching. I love that Captain Hook is the good guy in the story, and Peter Pan is the villain. The Social Capital Films and Energy Entertainment project is based on Ben Magid's script, and the movie was originally supposed to be directed by Guillermo del Toro. But the guy is focused on several other things right now.
I really enjoyed that animated sequence in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 which told the tale of the three brothers. Hopefully Hibon's talent translates well to live-action.

Disney never owned the rights. That orphange JM Barrie left the rights to did and those copyrights ran out like two years ago. They had an official book sequel published called "Peter Pan in Scarlet" to get the last bit of money from the rights.

And Captain Hook is a member of the fuzz!?!?! So it's going to take place in modern time? I highly doubt the cop will really be named Captain Hook so it's just about a detective after a masked pedo nicknamed Peter Pan? If anything it could just draw inspiration because if they try to sell it as an adaptation I will boycott.

Apparently Peter Pan is going to be a childlike adult who kidnaps kids. First men that come to mind are Pee Wee Herman and Michael Jackson as the 'man child' but the one in this movie kidnaps.

Hook is one of my favorite childhood movies.

Maybe they'll actually stick to their guns on this one, and not change their mind and make a standard Peter Pan movie that spends 90 minutes boring audiences with Peter Pan's origin before giving us a half-hour of actual Pan action, like Ridley Scott's Robin Hood.
