Just saw the trailer for this and I'm quite impressed. Looks extremely good.

try not to watch the trailer cause i heard it gives a lot away

My review : rating 7/10 (no spoilers)

Yes, this low-budget fright film appears to be a cross between the "Blair Witch Project" and the insipid "Ghost Hunters" TV show, but it actually contains several legitimately creepy moments that will come back to haunt you as you lie in bed at night.

The plot is simple -- A young couple has moved in together in their suburban San Diego home. The woman, Katie, reveals that strange events have intermittently followed her over the course of her life, and now the ghostly weirdness has started once again. Her stubborn and skeptical boyfriend Micah is determined to videotape the spooky sounds and movements, and he begins to actually taunt the unseen being into increased acts of terror that push Katie to the edge.

"Paranormal Activity" is almost two years old, but apparently distributor Paramount has now decided to release the original version as opposed to screwing it up with a bigger-budget remake. Much of the film consists of Katie and Micah carrying around a video camera while discussing the odd events. Most of the supernatural goings-on occur while the camera is set on a static tripod in the couple's bedroom, so those moviegoers who got motion sickness from "Blair Witch" and "Cloverfield" won't suffer so badly this time around.

Don't expect any showy CGI wizardry, and don't expect a neat, clean resolution either. However, if you just sit back and let the tension build, the last 20 minutes of the film raise the stakes to a satisfyingly horrifying point that might make you jump and squirm in your seat.

Paranormal Activity Scares Up 20 More Cities!
Source:Paramount Pictures

September 28, 2009

We have received word that director Oren Peli's independently-produced debut thriller Paranormal Activity did well enough last weekend for Paramount to expand it into 20 more cities, including New York, L.A., Las Vegas, Chicago and Dallas. The $11,000 movie sold out many of its midnight screenings in ten cities last weekend, grossing $79 thousand in 12 theaters, as well as creating lines around the block at a number of special midnight screenings on Thursday night. Apparently, Paramount's "Demand It!" program worked because there was enough interest for them to expand the movie quicker than originally planned.

You can check out the list all of the cities that will get the movie this coming weekend below! If your city is not listed, then make sure to go to the Official Website to Demand It!

Atlanta, GA
Chicago, IL
Dallas, TX
DC/Baltimore, MD
Denver, CO
Detroit, MI
Houston, TX
Los Angeles, CA
Las Vegas, NV
Miami, FL
Minneapolis, MN
New York, NY
Philadelphia, PA
Phoenix, AZ
Sacramento, CA

This movie looks genuinely scary. I will try to see it, somewhere:woot:.

i was surprised to see a theatre in Nebraska is showing it. and apparently they're only running midnight showings. who knew we were so awesome.

Every theater is appearently ONLY doing midnight showings....i.e. people have to go to sleep right after they see it.

very clever.

whats with the ''scariest movie in history'' marketing?

I'm intrigued by the trailer. I'll probably catch it on DVD once it's out.

The midnight showings are preventing me from watching it. Some people need to work in the morning.

I'm really hoping this comes to Pittsburgh. :csad:

you're brother is right. get the tickets for thursday at midnight. Thursday at midnight would be 12:00 A.M. between Thursday and Friday. Friday at midnight would be 12:00 A.M. between Friday and Saturday. I know it can be confusing. I used to work at a movie theater and had trouble with this sometimes. lol

The easiest way to remember is that it isn't the next day til 12:01. It is Thursday from 12:01 til 12:00

That is how my boss got me to go to work on the correct days, when I was working nights.

ahh dang...thanks for the help guys...i bought the wrong dang tickets...

It looks like I will have to see this movie on DVD, or On Demand.
