Cinematographer turned feature filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier turned everyone’s head earlier this year with the release of the unnerving revenge thriller “Blue Ruin.” That gave him enough juice to set up his next project rather quickly, which is already shooting. Titled “The Green Room,” the movie follows a punk rock band who find themselves trapped in a secluded venue after stumbling upon an act of violence, fighting for their lives against a gang of white power skinheads.

The movie stars Patrick Stewart, Imogen Poots, Anton Yelchin, Mark Webber, Alia Shawkat "Blue Ruin" star Macon Blair, Joe Cole and more. Stewart stars as the Neo-Nazi leader and he’s tweeted out a first look. Put this one high up on your 2015 most anticipated list and hope it’s ready by Cannes or the next fall film festival season.

Sounds like an interesting role for Mr. Stewart.

Yeah. This sounds pretty badass. Pretty nice cast too. Can't wait to see it. Still need to check out Blue Ruin.

This got some pretty good reviews from Cannes, although perhaps not everyone's cup of tea. Sounds like a crazy film.

I really liked the directors previous film Blue Ruin and the cast for this film is great.

A rather interesting role for Patrick Stewart, looking forward to seeing it.

This looks really good, man.

I'm interested in this film but still have no idea what s going on in it even after watching the trailer. Punks and neo nazis are having a fight?
Either way I'll be seeing it

It apparently has a pretty twisty plot that they are edging around with this teasers.

The movie is apparently disturbingly impactful in its violence. Judging by Blue Ruin I'd believe it. That movie just felt so real.

Green Room, directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Blue Ruin)

Rating: A+

It's so good that I can't say much about it. It's funny, scary, and violent. Pat Stewart plays his neo-nazi with a strange, held back menace and grace.

Igomen (spelling) Poots was amazing and cute. I love that punker girl look: bomber jacket, Doc Martens, messy hair with bangs. Anton Yelchin held his own as the glue and the movie's moral compass.

Best movie of the year so far.

Think of the Taking of Pelham 123 and the original Texas Chainsaw.

Think of down on their luck but good hearted kids with a band who agreed to do a show in the boonies, in the heart of neo-nazi land. They witness something and now they're surrounded by the skinheads, led by Jean Luc Picard.

Keep in mind that real punk hate racists, but neo-nazis got into it and formed their own sub culture.

I really hope this gets a wider release and I hope my damn theater gets it.

Comes out in the UK on May 13th and I will def be checking it out.

Interview with Saulnier. He talks about wanting to make a movie that wasn't referential to the movies of his youth but instead evoked the feelings he had while watching them.

Regardless of execution, sweet Jeebus is that refreshing to hear as a matter of intent. Its something so many 30-45 year old "80's Kids" directors just really don't understand about the kind of thing filmmakers like Spielberg did in their time.

In the interview he also talks about how Patrick Stewart became involved.

Finally got to see this. A fantastically tense piece of work. It is larger in scope than Blue Ruin and perhaps not as "poetic" as that film often was but it is still a fantastic film that really rachets the tension.

That tension was nearly ruined for me though. 15 minutes from the end of the film a thunderstorm knocked out the projector in my theater. The audio continued rendering this punk rock film a radio-play. Took a while for the projector to be fixed but I'm glad I stuck around.

Saulnie in his writing and in his directing is so good at establishing characters quickly and yet in subtle ways. He quickly endears all of the band members to the viewer, and then fully lets the sh** hit the fan.
Stewart is as expected great in the movie but in quite understated way. Stewart is so natural in a leadership role, and we've seen him so much as Captains and Professors that leading skinheads is a somehow terribly natural fit.

See this movie post haste. Also see Blue Ruin if you already haven't. If you have, see it again.

I truly love how much obviously lived experience Saulnier brings to presenting the whole punk/hardcore scene.

In my experience with similar spaces, one constant frustration was skinhead, red-lace assh***s showing up and just really want to start crap and hurt people. This film just rang so damn true for me.

Saw this on Saturday; there were moments I thought I was going to feel sick to my stomach because of how intense it was, I found myself moving around my seat trying to find a comfortable position.

This was fantastic, I can't wait to see it again.

This movie rocks so damn hard. Just saw it today. Was enthralled from beginning to end.

It doesn't leave you.

Most of you guys got the backstory right? On why things happened in the movie with the girl? My friend was confused, and I was like, yeah it's vague but there are clues.

The movie was f**king tense I really wanted to see the Nazi skinheads get there comeuppance.
