Ant-Man Patrick Wilson Cast In Unrevealed Role

Wilson looks nothing like a young Michael Douglas; however I don't see that discounting the possibility.
I mean James McAvoy looks nothing like young Patrick Stewart, so I don't see it being an issue if that's the case, but I really think Wilson is cast as a villain or something.

Wilson would need a dimple in his chin if he were to be the young Michael Douglas. As I said before, Wilson looks more like the young Paul Newman. I can't think off hand which younger actor looks like Douglas. I used to think Fisher Stevens (Short Circuit) looked a bit like him when he was younger (even though his neck seems too thin for his head), but he's too old now.

I think Zac Efron has enough of a passing resemblance to a young Douglas that he could make an alright Pym.

Why waste Patrick Wilson on something like that though? I'm thinking he's going to be the villain, not just a glorified body double.

why waste Idris Elba on Heimdall? why waste Dominic Cooper on Howard Stark? why waste Ben Kingsley on not-Mandarin?

sure. josh hutcherson has the cleft chin too, I think. or Chace Crawford? Fran Kranz is 32 but can play younger. : shrugs:

Zack Effron playing a young Mathew Perry (when Perry is turned 17... again).

Psyche has done it twice, the young actors don't really look much
like the older characters.

was played by this guy (the older version) in Sandlot:

Joseph Gordon Levitt playing a young Bruce Willis in Looper. With CG effects, and possibly prosthetics.

Another example of casting two actors who don't necessarily look alike.
Its the same when casting fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers,
and sisters. They cast characters for their acting, the actors sometimes
don't look related.

There are rare cases where an actor's son could pass as a younger
him/her:

But usually they have to cast an actor who looks just enough like the other
older actor to pull it off, but also must be a good actor. I think they
usually cast for their acting ability and the looks second, but I could be
wrong about that.

and like i always say, I am not saying I have my heart set on Wilson as young
Hank Pym. Just that I'd be fine with it. Also I would like to see the psychological
stuff of Pym in the movies. And that might be why some people want this.
They feel like casting Douglas will lead to the movies skipping over the cool
character stuff and history of Pym. Like how he decided to experiment with ants
and shrinking after his first wife was killed. Or how his changing hero persona is
a sign of mental instability. Or how Ultron is evil and stuff because he used his
own brain patterns.

Since they're already making Hank Pym old, they should go all the way. Have Kirk Douglas play him in present day, and Michael Douglas can be Hank Pym in the 1960s. :woot:

Crossfire was a former CIA and is the cousin of Scott Lang's origin Ant-Man story villain Darren Cross from To Steal An Ant-Man. Edgar Wright says Ant-Man has a spy element .....
I'd be more than happy with that, its even an exciting idea. To include Crossfire and Cross and maybe cast Wilson as one of them. He could even be playing Dr. Sondheim. I really like the whole spies and assassins idea.:woot:

Well, Patrick Wilson was in Prometheus for at least one minute, so I don't think it isn't possible.

sure. i'd fancast Eliszabeth Mitchell as Sondheim; just to keep the 'Lost' connection.

That list seems highly unlikely. It seems like the typical fan speculation that any actor cast with an unannounced role is some major comic character (much like the extremist woman is Wasp in Iron Man 3 or random Sheild agent in the Captain America The First Avenger is Sharon Carter).

O'Grady may be a possibility but seems unlikely.

The guys over at What Culture may have just lost it, although the top 3 seem reasonable:

http://whatculture.com/film/10-marvel-characters-patrick-wilson-ant-man.php

10. Moon Knight
9. Ghost Rider
8. Doctor Strange
7. Hawkeye (Re-cast)
6. Bullseye
5. Absorbing Man
4. The Punisher
3. Giant Man/Yellowjacket/Goliath
2. Young Hank Pym
1. Eric O'Grady

that list is on crack. young hank pym is the only believable option. and i'm still unconvinced on that one. but it might just be my bias speaking. because i really want to see Wilson play the villain. i want to also see him unrestrained. he's always playing reserved individuals. he should be firing-a-machine-gun-from-a-helicopter-he's-piloting-crazy.

i remember when everyone thought that Chris O'Dowd was going to be Doctor Strange in the last Thor movie. :woot:

On the comments section of that other site, there are random Gifs of Leo DiCaprio that have nothing to do with the topic.

Yeah, they always go way off topic over there. I go there all the time to get info, but i have no interest in being a poster there.

Maybe Michael Douglas will use an anti-aging serum on himself later in the movie and becomes Patrick Wilson. :word:

I've seen some people speculating that Pym will be de-aged somehow but I doubt it personally although you can never rule Marvel out with some sort of twist.

I still think Wilson is probably a villain.

I also think that Wilson is a villain as well.

Only time will tell if he is playing the villain or someone else

My personal idea was that you keep Douglas as Pym, but if they did a "Yellowjacket" arc, they could have this young Yellowjacket around and swerve the audience into thinking that he killed Pym (like in the books, where it seemed like Yellowjacket killed Pym) and the swerve would be cool and work on the audience (but not the fans like us who know better, really) as there would be an obvious difference in age would not lead you into thinking this young Yellowjacket is Pym. So, when the big reveal would be that this Yellowjacket WAS actually Pym, and the incident that borked his mind for a bit could be tweaked for the movie as including a freak accident that also deaged him. This way in the end, eventually you could end up with a younger Pym in the MCU.

Since we posted random Paul Rudd Gifs in Paul's thread, I think we should post random Patrick Wilson gifs here.
