Paul Blart: Mall Cop

I just don't get how this movie become #1 with like $35 Mil.
It looks so...dumb(not to mention unoriginal). I felt, when watching the trailer, I had already seen the whole plot play out.
I'm obviously missing something here, but I just don't get it. :o
Well, as I pointed out in my very first post, it's extremely logical as to why the movie is #1 this weekend.

I'm a fan of Kevin James' comedy, but this movie holds absolutely no interest to me.

I'm a huge fan of Kevin James, and I'll admit that some parts of the trailer made me laugh. But, I'm still kinda hesitant on if I want to wait til DVD to watch this.

The awful reviews have disheartened me. I like Kevin James. It's said, because this is the kind of concept that could be really, really funny in the right hands, and it looks like it might not be.

I honestly thought the movie that would be bringing in the cash would be My Bloody Valentine. I hate today's horror movies but I was under the impression that they have always been able to get the #1 or 2 spot(with exception to The Unborn, which I don't think did very well). Plus with the whole 3-D factor(which I would find hard to watch) I thought for sure it would be more popular. Plus I heard it received decent reviews, not to mention it's been all over the tv whereas the only promotion I have noticed for Mall Cop was at theaters.

The Unborn came in third place with almost 20 million. So that's not really that bad.

It's simple as this. there are more familys out there then Horror fans. Or atleast ones that go to theaters.

A number of teenagers also would buy tickets to this and go to My Bloody Valentine instead, it's not like they exactly hand you the 3D glasses in most theaters. They just leave them open for you to grab.

That's what I said before. I'm sure alot bought tix to mall cop and snuck into MBV.

I'm also a KJ fan, I can never change the channel when 'King of Queens' in on...but the movie trailers didn't do it for me. They look too...over exaggerated...but my co-worker told me this morning it was hilarious and tol me to watch it. And I respect his opinion...cause he's a movie guy and is at the movies every weekend (daugher works at a theater)...so I might wait till we get it at the $4 theater here :)

I won't be seeing this one. It perpetuates the stereotype that all security professionals are wanna be cops, fat, and have nothing better to do but enforce "speed limits" on little old folks on mobility carts (taken from the trailer). It disgusts me.

Somebody's a security guard! :p

I agree with you but those hands are Happy Madison productions and they have a long line of making horrible movies:o

As TNC mentioned, this looks like a good family movie and that is fine but I like comedy that pushes the envelope more and is a bit witty so I will pass until my family rents it or pays my way to the theatre.

I don't understand the family part, it didn't look like a family movie to me, just a really crappy movie.

I just got back from seeing the movie, I went with my parents, the old man wanted to see it, plus I like Kevin James, the movie is awesomely Hilarious!!! OMG, I almost busted a gut in this movie LOL, I thought the movie was great, lots of funny moments stacked on top of each other!!! The story isn't anything you haven't seen before unless you're 5 years old but it serves the movie well and just adds to the Hilarity!!! I thought it was a blast, 9.5/10!!!:D:up:

If Mall Cop does well enough at the box office then it may get turned into a tv series.

Okay, so I saw this. It actually wasn't that bad. If you think Kevin James is funny, you should enjoy this. Just a fun, stupid little movie.

Ergggggggh I can't believe I helped made this movie number one. I thought this movie was predictable and boring. The only part I really liked were the acrobatic thieves. This film would of worked better as a slice of life piece. The stereotypes played in the film sucked too.
