The storm videos were well done. They are building up his story very nicely. I'd like to imagine his return will be a great one. He looked like he was in better physical shape in his videos as well. I truly hope they build this up with Storm capturing the title from Roode at BFG.
If they follow this it will be some of the best booking done in years and show a great rebound ability after Hogan got the angle off to a messy start when his ego screwed up last years BFG. A year long title chase in this day and age is tremendous.
The rest of Impact I didn't care for that much. I was just bored with the show mostly, though I'm glad they are building up Ms. Assmacher. She shouldn't win the title, but I'm hoping she's made to look competitive in her bout with Gail. RVD agreeing to put up his title shot in a four way made him look stupid and made no sense. Of course every angle with Hulk putting in some kind of new stipulation makes zero sense. Daniels has always been solid on the mic. I'd love to see him as a manager or commentator when his in-ring career is done.
Gail carried Velvet to a solid match at Lockdown so she should be able to do the same withh Brooke. I didn't have a problem with RVD putting his title shot up in order to gain the ladder stip, I think it fit with his big ego and recklessness. Daniels has always been articulate but I think recently he's found more guile and personality in his character and subsequent mic work.
If Sting came out publically against Hulk, that would be huge and would send a message. I wish he would. It's the kind of move that would at least make Dixie pause and think for a moment. Sting really should be playing the role of Godfather that Undertaker plays backstage in WWE. He's respected enough that he could. Sting seems to want no part of that type of role though.
The Taker comparison is spot on but I guess you can't put something into someone's personality that isn't there, and Sting is unlikely to change at his age.
I see what you mean with Flair and Sting. That's a fair point. Their matches were usually the same, but so good I could not help but mark out every time they were in the ring. Their chemistry was off the charts and they always looked like they were having the greatest time out there. Sting once told a story about their matches and them trying to do different stuff, but Flair basically told him their matches were what Babe Ruth's homer runs were. The fans didn't come to see Ruth hit doubles or any other hits. They came to see him hit homers. That's why so many of their matches had the same formula with few little twists.
That's interesting given his revered series with Steamboat had very varied matches, I wonder if maybe at the time he felt Sting was too inexperienced and thus sticking to a popular formula was safest. What is your favourite Sting vs Flair match?
Sting's in-ring ability shined with guys like Rude, Muta, and Vader. Sting also had a knack for carrying big-men to decent matches as well.
Sting was the perfect atheltic babyface to work with monster heels. Have you seen his match with Regal at GAB 96? I think it showed how far Sting had came as a worker.
