Ant-Man Paul Rudd is Ant-Man

Yes, look at this hideous, ancient thing. You can practically see the tomb dust billowing off her dried out, decrepit bones. :whatever:

Isn't Lucy Liu about Rudd's age? Plus I think she's talented and beautiful… which is why I suggested her.

ETA: Lucy Liu is one year older than Rudd; 45 vs. 44.

Also, yep, she's super hard to look at…

Plus, another reason why I suggested Liu is she's arguably one of the more well-known name Asian actresses, has tons of experience with genre work, and basically conjures up badassery when she's mentioned, at least for me. O-ren Ishii for the win.

Isn't it funny that men can be cast (and fan-cast) in these films no matter how old they are but so many fans will automatically discount any woman over the age of 25? In one of the Wonder Woman threads there was general agreement that no actress over 25 should even be considered for the role. In contrast, there were plenty of fans who wanted Mark Valley to play Captain America even though he's in his late thirties and Steve Rogers was canonically a raw twentysomething recruit when his career began. It's mind-boggling. Thankfully Marvel is much more open-minded than some of its fans about casting matters.

Oh wow yes! I remember people casting Valley and, of course, Jon Hamm for Cap, never mind that both are in their 40's. Liu is kicking butt on Elementary, kicking butt in real life, apparently, as that second pic I posted is from Fitness magazine in February, and is basically the same age as Rudd, but she's too old.

Shocking.

And I've also said before... I'd love for someone like Lucy Liu to get Jan.

Lucy Liu would be amazing!

Lucy Liu is plenty attractive.
Agreed!

Lucy Liu is hot as hell. I'm not sure she has the time to squeeze in a big role in a summer movie these days with filming 22 episodes a season of Elementary. Josh Dallas couldn't back as Fandral because of his TV commitments and Kat Dennings said flying back and forth between London and LA to film Thor and 2 Broke Girls left her exhausted.

I'm sure there are plenty of actresses up for playing the role of wasp who are available although we aren't even sure she will make an appearance in Ant-Man or the size of her role. She is probably a supporting character rather than a lead if she is the film.
Moral of the story: Stop doing other **** :yay:

Back to Rudd though, this is an incredible casting decision. This rivals RDJ-as-Stark in terms of pitch perfect casting. I cannot  this enough.

Liu is a goddess. I started watching Elementary because of her (great show btw, and she's awesome in it).

Yay for all the Liu love!!

I adore Rudd so much. Going back through some of his promo for other movies (especially when he's with people like Jason Segal and Seth Rogen and Steve Carell), he's just so darn adorable and entertaining. I didn't realize how appealing he made movies for me until I discovered I see something he's in and my husband, who hates going to movies, are buying tickets online for that film - case in point, 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, I Love You Man, This is 40… all movies I wouldn't have seen in the theaters were it not for Paul Rudd. And in the case of ILYM, for Rashida Jones.

I think Rudd's casting will be a big lure for females, honestly. Ever since Clueless, Rudd's like movie catnip! We love him!

I'm not ashamed to say that Rudd is one handsome man. In my opinion, he'll be the most handsome hero in the MCU come 2015.

Edit: Oh, but wait. Forgot about Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver. Hmm. Might have to retract that statement.

60% of the time it works every time! :woot: I wasn't THAT interested in an Ant man solo before he was cast. Not like Thor, Hulk, Iron Man etc. I guess I didn't know I liked him that much either but suddenly Ant Man is a must-see.

I don't know about that; not just with ATJ, but the Chrises as well. Paul Rudd walking alongside those three guys will be like reverse-Anchorman.

The Chrises are handsome guys, but Rudd is just exceptionally handsome to me. The fact that he's older and really doesn't show it is also a plus. He'd be more of my type if I was into guys.

But ATJ is definitely the best looking of them all.

I actually agree Paul may be the most attractive of the men at least facially.

I hope Rudd one day plays the man in the yellow hat in a live action Curious George movie.

Is this response to Rudd as Ant-man unanimously positive or..not? Haven't really kept up.

This idea that Hank Pym is old and has been Ant-Man for a while doesn't fly with the MCU, though. Fury and SHIELD wouldn't have known about him on their "list" that Coulson refers to all the time, and used him prior to Avengers 3 if he's "old"?

To me it needs to be an introduction to make sense with the world created thus far.

For the most part yes he hasn't been bashed at all as far as I know of. Could be also because Ant-Man isn't that well known of a character.

I honestly don't know what Rudd's secret is, but the dude's looking only a few years older than he did in Clueless… which is almost twenty years old!!

I do have to wonder if it's really a combination of yoga and Nazi blood… hmmm. :word:

I know it's not likely, but I really want Ant-Man to break out, gross anywhere fro $200-$300 million, like the first Iron Man. I'm hoping that it's a great movie, more than anything else. Given that I adore Wright's work, I don't think it'll disappoint me.

I think Ant-Man will do a lot better at the international box office than the American box office.

Basically, all the comic book fans were going to go see this movie at least once, even if Tyler Perry was starring in it.

But with Rudd, now the dudebros who like his manchild comedies will now see this movie too, and the women who like Rudd in his romantic comedies too.

Nailed it.

Who the hell in here is saying Lucy Liu isn't attractive?

JBL is, Faarooq. You should totally kick his ass and steal his hat.

That's one reason I'm not sure that the "Pym in the past" angle is still in play. Unless his identity was kept completely under wraps from most of the general public, and unless he's missing or presumed dead, then any superhero from the 1960s would've definitely warranted at least a mention in the MCU (especially on AOS) by now.
