Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

I see much more in the vain of Alex's Ross's other Model for Reed which was Russell Johnson of Gilligan's Island

He was a handsome guy in good shape in his youth, but he wasn't an overly muscular , square jawed, Superman like figure.

Does that make Mary Ann the Sue Storm, Skipper the Ben Grimm, and Gilligan as the Johnny Storm? With Thurston Howell as Doctor Doom?

Have we just...unlocked the hidden Fantastic Four cast that was right in front of us all along?

you don't have to be overly muscular per-say to have authority...

I'm fine with Reed having a less then traditional superhero body type
I was joking around about it, but I agree Reed doesn't need to be yoked like Hugh Jackman or The Rock. Fit and healthy is fine. I brought it up in response to the suggestion of Freddie Highmore as Reed, Highmore just seems a little on the soft side to be Reed IMO. Reed's not a musclehead, but he's a masculine guy. Krasinski seems like a good match to me.

I'm all for seeing a younger Johnny than we've seen before, someone who could pal around with Tom Holland or some young X-Men like Iceman. Reed represents the father figure of the group, so he should be older and more mature. Sue is somewhere in between. And Ben's like the fun uncle.

We should change the name of this thread to Most Muscular Man Alive.
What should be the age difference between Johnny and Susan then?
If he's of Parker's age, she can't be too much older. They're meant to be siblings.
And with a quite young Susan, we might lose the authority element she needs.

I want to clarify that I didn't suggest Highmore. I only mentioned that somebody else had thought of him, and I added that I couldn't see it working.

Krasinski is a good match, yes!!!!!

I don't think it matters so much how old Sue is, maybe mid to late 20s, early 30s at the oldest probably. That's young enough where they could still be growing up together and she could be taking charge of him. The main thing is, they don't have to state their ages. So maybe if Krasinski is Reed, he could play him a little younger, and people could assume Sue's age as whatever they want.

although, siblings are more commonly close in age (2-3 years) they don't have to necessarily be, I don't think 4-6 years would that that much of a stretch, 5-10y wouldn't even be unheard of

especially if we get a younger actress for Sue (25-30 range) a much younger actor (18-25 range) for Johnny would certainly help sell her "authority"

of course, actual age and physical age plays a factor here (so, as long as they look to have a notable age difference) I just don't want them to seem the same age

I don't think matching Krasinski with Saorise Ronan would be a good thing. She's in her late 20s but the age difference is too big. They would need to get an older actress for Susan in that case.
The age of Johnny will be adjusted to that, as well.
It can't appear as if Krasinski's Reed is taking care of "youngsters" (compared to his age). It would feel wrong. Why would they get that actor and make him play younger when they can cast a younger Reed instead?

That wouldn't bother me a bit, honestly. You don't even have to state the age difference if you don't want. I was dating a 27 year old when I was 42. As for siblings, I have a sister who is nearly 30 years older than I am. Although that certainly seems like too big an age difference for Sue and Johnny.

The age difference between Krasinski and Ronan is going to be clearly noticable, unless they age her up quite a bit.
What's the point in doing so when they could hire a talented actress closer to his age?

Well, there is an age difference between them in the comic books. Maybe not 14 years. But as I said, it doesn't bother me either way.

The reason it won't bother you might be bc you're crazy about Ronan and wouldn't want any other actress in the role. You're willing to accept anything as long as she's Susan

I have a suggestion though. How about having an age difference of only six years instead of casting Susan with somebody who's
15 years younger than Krasinski? Would't that be a smarter move? I'm trying to be sober here. Susan isn't Reed's adoptive daughter

But heck, let's cast Highmore then so that you can get your Ronan :)

It's all make believe. We've seen twenty-somethings playing high school students repeatedly.
Well, that isn't what everybody thinks is the right way. How many complaints haven't we heard over the years?
I'm not really sure what you want to say with this post. Maybe you mean that Saoirse Ronan (who's born 1994) should play a high school student? Isn't it the exact opposite of what we're discussing here (that she needs to look older)?

EDIT: you should read the two posts I made after the one you replied to. I go deeper about the topic in those

All I'm saying is that the age difference between Krasinski and Ronan would not bother me, that's it. That's all. I'm not advocating for anyone in particular to play Sue, although I like the idea of Krasinski. They could get an older Sue, but I also like the idea of a younger Johnny. But Tom Holland is 26, I kind of see Torch and Spider-Man around the same age.

Saorise is mature looking. I honestly dont even see the age difference. Especially if John is clean shaven. Some of you are too hung up on numbers…

Yeah, I know Krasinski’s age, but only know of hers what I can infer from previous comments.

But if I had no prior knowledge and you showed me those two photos and asked me who was older, I couldn’t even guess. They both look mid 30ish to me.

I agree, but I think those pictures of Krasinski are when he was somewhat younger. I don't know that for sure, but I thought he looked older than that in MoM. Those pictures are a good demonstration of why I first liked the idea of him playing Reed. I think they look remarkably alike, especially with the beard. When I first saw A Quiet Place, I thought he looked just like Richards.

That specific image, and other relatively recent comic depictions of Reed look like Krasinski.

Those artists may be specifically using Krasinski as a model since he has been suggested for Reed ever since he auditioned for Cap (obviously a long time ago).

So with 60 years of Reed not looking like Krasinski and a few years of him (intentionally?) looking like Krasinski, his resemblance in recent comics doesn’t sway me.

Personally, it would feel wrong for Reed to date someone who's visably that much younger.

How important is it that Johnny and and PP are close in age?

I think Krasinski would be believable as Ronan's father, or atleast uncle, in any other film.
And then suddenly people wouldn't be against them as a romantic couple in F4.

Why am I against this?
Well, it's not just about looks but also their overall physical appearance. He's tall, while she's quite short and her stature is tiny. One can only fool the audience to a certain limit with camera angles and "movie magic". At one point, their difference in height will be noticeable.

I can't point out enough how weird it will be to cast Susan with somebody who's 15 years younger than Reed.
I think that even 10 years between Reed and Susan (if Lily James gets the role) would be stretching it a bit, but still be somewhat acceptable. The age difference should definetely not be any bigger than that!!!
We may have come to a point where we need to give up Krasinski and go younger. His best age match is Seyfried but many of the other actresses (James, Comer, Ronan) are younger than her. Perhaps that's the only way make the film, having Reed to be around Susan's age.

I don't know who that actor should be.
Highmore lacks gravitas, and he lacks supporters as well.
Logan Lerman has made it clear that he's not into CBM blockbusters, and that he doesn't want to wear "tights and sh*t".
Josh Hucherson won't suit the character at all.
Rollo Weeks has quit acting.
Perhaps Frank Dillane as an edgier Reed? I can't see that either.
Thomas Sangster is more of the Johnny Storm type.
Michael Angarano??! Definetely wrong in every possible way!!!!!!
You need to help me out here.

Another problem with casting Krasinski opposite someone much younger than him is that unless the writers tread very carefully, it could end up feeling patriarchal, and I doubt Marvel wants to deal with that kind of ****storm.

Marvel ain't gonna cast Ronan alongside Krasinski. The age gap would become too much of a talking point especially given the family dynamic this team has. Folks really shouldn't expect a big age gap between Reed and Sue, regardless of whomever they cast.
