Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

And with Stark and the original Cap gone, Reed will be a leader of the MCU even outside of being its primary scientific genius and leader of the F4. His profile will be heightened further with the wider MCU threat of Doom and his strong personal connection to him. I’d find it strange if Krasinski was up for the cameo and not the full role, knowing how significant it could be. This is an absolutely huge role and there aren’t going to be too many roles of this size going forward, the likes of Cyclops and Storm maybe.

You're on point, Bud.

I've been saying this for a while now. Reed Richards will finally fill the void Cap & Tony's departure left us with. The hiring of Krasinski is VERY important because he will now become the "leader" of the MCU. RDJ & Evans did it wonderfully through 2019. Now it's time for Krasinski to lead us into the next generation.

Good point. There is a massive void. A feeling of emptiness without RDJ and Evans. Could Krasinski and whoever they cast as Cyclops (hopefully Jensen Ackles) fill that gap? Wolverine too (tough casting but for now Scott Eastwood as a placeholder).

You're going to be looking at Anthony Mackey too, to step up and take a lead.

he doesnt come off to me as much of a leading man. More of a support/sidekick no matter how much Marvel wants to promote him.
The only other actors that i think were/are potential leaders to the same level and energy as RDJ and Evans in and out of the MCU are

Chadwick Boseman
Tom Holland
Charlie Cox
Patrick Stewart
Nathan Fillion
Tom Cruise
Dylan O’Brien
Ryan Reynolds
Henry Cavill (great actor but had horrible scripts with DC)
Hugh Jackman
Tom Hardy
Ryan Gosling
Brad Pitt
Michael Fassbender
Keanu Reeves (not for acting but screen presence)
Johnny Depp
Agent Coulson
Jamie Foxx
Wesley Snipes
Mahershala Ali

Maybe Strange, Cap Marvel and even Namor too (might be wishful thinking there). It looks like Sam will be having the Cap style strategic leadership role though, at least amongst the streel level guys.

I suspect Reed and Storm will be two of the major players going forward. I see Sam being part of that, but he gives off more of the everyman Hawkeye vibe than the heart-of-the-team vibe that Steve had.

I dont see Falcon being the heart of the MCU like Steve was either. I don't know who the new Cap or Stark is gonna be yet. I guess Strange is so far as close as we have to one of them, but I hope Reed ends up being one of the new central characters of the MCU. I have a feeling T'Challa WAS going to occupt that spot, unfortunately. But....yeah :csad:

But as a lifelong FF fan, seeing Reed become THE guy in the MCU would make me feel good. Especially cause I feel like over time, the FF have lost street cred amongst fans. They need to get that respect they once commanded back

It may be the writing, but F&WS made clear that these shoes are too big for him (by now). He was far away to be the MVP of his own series. After the amazing trailer of Wakanda Forever, who knows maybe can Coogler make another trick again whoever get the mantle of Black Panther. But besides this, the new heart will be Reed.

Its odd but afaik Iron Man was not usually perceived as the leader of the Marvel comics universe pre RDJ pre 2008. That was usually Captain America, Reed Richards, Cyclops, Storm, Doctor Strange, and yes Spider-Man would even take the lead.

Twas RDJ’s charisma and audience falling in love with the character as well as the seminal 2008 film that transformed the Marvel universe forever into being founded on Tony Stark. Yes he sometimes would be a leader but Cap was usually perceived as the de facto leader with Tony as a close second.

I predict a similar phenomena could happen again with a new character being introduced. Perhaps it could be Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool as he naturally seemed to take the lead in forming his own team. Could be Mahershala’s Blade, could be whoever they cast as Nova. It will take someone so special like the actors I listed previously.

Removing Cap and Iron Man was a poor decision in retrospect because the MCU has never felt to the same standard since they have been gone. They will have to go back to what made the phase one films so successful in order to recapture that. I believe the Fantastic Four films could be just the remedy that everyone has been waiting for and that the MCU desperately needs. Because technically Stan Lee DID start with the FIRST FAMILY.

I dont think guys like Blade or Deadpool fit that role, either. They can be popular characters, but they are notoriously loners and that is a large part of their appeal. Neither fits the role of a Captain America or Iron Man as glue that holds the thing together.

Iron Man was leader of the Avengers or various teams quite a few times. Led the Avengers in the 70s, Force Works, West Coast Avengers, Avengers after Civil War, etc.

Couldn't agree more. I had high hopes that Falcon and the Winter Soldier would sell me on Mackey as Cap. It didn't. The show was incredibly lackluster and it only exemplified how miscast Mackey is as Captain America. His body type. His walk. His overall performance as "Cap" doesn't work. It doesn't help that he's a serum-less Cap.

I honestly don't understand how that show went into production. Feige gave us a PERFECT Captain America for 9 years. Oh well. Thank God for Krasinski as Reed Richards.

i stand corrected. I think Iron Man not being the leader was mostly my perception then.

tbh even Nick Fury would be more of a leader at this point. There is still an empty void when Coulson was taken out of the MCU

Watched MoM again today...still not crazy about Krasinksi as Reed. I like him as an actor, but cant really buy him as the smartest man alive.

theres a difference between being smart and wise. Also it was literally 2 minutes total. Not much to go on if we are being honest

Well, his actions in the movie weren't very smart, not even close. His opinions were all wrong. But I liked his calm demeanor, and the way he tried to settle the situation peacefully. So just stop him from being wrong and making stupid decisions, and he should serve nicely.

also he was 838 Reed and 838 Strange was apparently selfish and evil. And green was stop red was go. It wasn’t supposed to reflect 616 Reed. We need to remember this. All the illuminati in 838 were arrogant that isnt only on Reed

But his foolishness would indicate he’s not the Reed we know.

Our Reed is an explorer who has encountered, and often battled, countless aliens.

Our Reed would necessarily know you don’t start a new encounter with an unknown entity by giving them key information about his team’s capabilities.

It was a different universe that we'll probably never see again. I don't get why it matters so much.

It doesn't. It was a fun scene designed to give Wanda some valuable victims.

All that matters is the crowds went nuts when Krasinski appeared with that "4" on his chest. A reaction as big as Tobey & Andrew in NWH.

A staple moment in the MCU.

Bingo. The audience I was with when I watched the film went nuts when John Krasinski as Reed Richards popped up. Lots of clapping and cheering. I recalled one fan yelled out, "Yes! He is finally our Mr. Fantastic!"

True, but they weren't all called "the smartest man in the universe".

no but they were essentially that universes version of The Avengers. You know, protecting the earth from threats “To see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles that we never could” but in this case were incompetent

well said, you know i hope when Strange meets 616 Reed (because that is an eventuality), Strange says something to the effect of, make sure you dont give away our achille’s heel to our enemies. Reed responding, Stephen, we don’t do that in this multiverse.
