Penny Dreadful

I think there is a big difference between the types of blood everyone has on their hands. That is why Ethan did not want Vanessa to kill that evil SOB.

I have no idea were they are going with Caliban. If I had to guess, someone will save him. Now depending on who does, say Vanessa or Lily, will decide his fate.

And that is a neat fact about Rusk's actor. :woot:

That is true.

That's a possibility as well, though I don't see Caliban allying himself with Lily in any circumstances. Two of them are just too... different. And he wouldn't stand for her ego. Not for long, at least.

It is, isn't it? :woot:

They're not going to have the current season on Netflix while its playing.

Anyway, I totally geeked out when Rusk revealed Ethan's real name.

then i guess i have to wait this fall for season 2 to be on dvd so i can watch it :(

That is exactly who he is.

Right, Ethan Lawrence Talbot.

Interestingly, first historical recorded case of lycanthropy was in 1850's and Ethan was born in 1857. Well, it was interesting to me at least...

Strangely, I catch this and not the name Lawrence.

I am curious what deal they made to get the rights to the character. The character isn't public domain.

Well, he could technically just be an homage, since his first name is still Ethan, they might have avoided copyright infringement that way.

That is a very good question.

Who would hold the rights? Universal Pictures?
Yes, I believe Universal Pictures own the rights.

I doubt this. Far too close imo. He even looks like the classic wolfman. Maybe they just paid, or Universal just liked the idea of having the character out there again.

Yeah, with the whole relationship with his father and all, it would seem that he is more than just a homage... I guess we will be sure when we find out his father's name. If he is Sir John Talbot or not.

Yes, I believe Universal Pictures own the rights.

Hell, I assume they would have to pay way more than they can afford to get rights from Universal Pictures. It is more probably some sort of deal.

Aren't Universal trying to do that shared monster universe thing?

Yeah, there was some sort of idea of rebooting classic monsters in shared cinematic universe, but I don't know what happened with that plan.

I think it is way too expensive and risky, especially since many newer remakes of classic monster stories were rather bad and not received very well.

It's still happening as far as I'm aware, the Mummy, Wolf Man and Van Helsing pictures all have directors or writers attached to them, with Mummy due out sometime in 2017. The guy who wrote Prisoners is writing the Wolf Man script last I heard.

For those interested, season one of Penny Dreadful on Blu-ray is $18 on Amazon right now. That's over 60% off the regular price.

So glad this show got renewed for a third season...I hope the relationship between Ethan and Vanessa gets explored even more.

Oh, I bought mine the day it came out. I am impatient that way. :p

Vanessa with whom ever will get her naked.
