Penny Dreadful

Sir Malcolm seems to be inspired as a character by Alan Quartermain, but i honestly would like to see that character too eventualy.

Since my post was buried at the bottom of the previous page I'll quote myself:

The Penny Dreadful Comic Con liveblog. Some interesting tidbits:

- Initially the creator just wanted to do a Frankenstein show, but later added the other stories. This is probably why the plot feels a little disjointed at times.

- Van Helsing was killed off quickly to prove that the writers wouldn't be slaves to the original text, so to speak.

- In season 2 we'll learn more about whether Vanessa invited her possession or is a victim.

- Season 2 will feature more threatening villains. Madame Kali will be the main villain. We'll also meet another character from "Dracula".

- A scene was cut from the finale suggesting enmity between Kali and Vanessa.

- At some point we'll see Dorian's portrait.

- Ethan apparently doesn't know he's a werewolf but he'll soon learn.

- We'll probably get a backstory for Ethan, but one for Sir Malcolm and Sembene is unlikely to be seen anytime soon. Darn.

Patti's really getting into tv horror-based shows I see.

I am so very excited for the second season. After a clunky start, the first season just got better and better. I love that Eva became the heart of the show, which everything seems to revolve around.

Yeah, as much as I love Eva in this, I don't love that everything revolves around her.

Caliban was my favorite character, and pretty cut off from Eva's thing. So I'm inclined to agree.

Don't know if any of you care but the first season of this is out on disc already, which seems awful early to me. I went to go buy Newsroom and this was sitting right next to it. Just thought I'd let you guys know if you missed it like me....

characters development, acting, soundtrack, costumes and sets were amazing. The story took a lot of time to really invests me though. I can still say I loved the first season.

I realy liked the first season, but i was a bit disapointed in seeing a show about victorian era fantastic books + Frankenstein ending up being mostly about exorcisms, demons and possibly the devil.

Showtime is marathoning the whole first season New Year's Eve if anyone cares. :)

Wow, season two looks good.

First season was so good, it's going to be hard to beat. :)

I watched all this in one sitting about a month ago. I needa do it again, it was hard to catch a lot of what was happening at first. I really liked it a lot, though.
