People you have put on ignore thread :-)

Actually, I'm lying, I can see you guys posting. It just tells me "XremelyBaneful just posted. as you have put him on your ginore list, you won't see his message".

No. I haven't put anyone on the ignore and I don't agree with the option to even have it. It's like that rule in middle school and high school not allowing you to wear a hat and the reason for it that a lot of people get their hats tossed off their heads by others.

Yes, give people a chance. Reason things out. We're all people here after all. It's just that we have our faces hidden behind our accounts.

Who were they?

It's more like being in a bar to have fun and relax and ejecting loud, obnoxious, rude, insulting, negative or aggressive people so you don't have to experience that behaviour.

Some people will always be the kind of person you don't want to interact with, hence the function

I'll admit that I have 58 people on my ignore list. I have a 4-5 due to the politics forum but the rest are mainly for people I know who like to do hit-and-run trolling, be overly negative, or show their lack of comic/film knowledge while complaining in MCU-related forums I frequent. If I see a poster with lots of positive DC stuff in their history posting a bunch of negative stuff in a MCU forum, that gets them almost an instantaneous ignore.

^ The reason for my ones. Pretty much the only people on my ignore list are ones who frequent sections of movies they hate to post nothing but negativity and troll those actually interested in the movies.

that person in the bar sounds like he could be drunk. whereas most of the punkass kids in school are sober they just need to be taught discipline. that's not impossible. and imo that's better instead of imposing a rule that ignores the problem.

Why would anyone feel the need to complain about YOUR posts? Or ignore YOU?

Same question goes to you.

i posted in a political thread about a girl who sneaked into a house and got shot by her father. She knew her father was a "gun nut" as the article called it.

I mentioned she should have knocked or just gone in through the front door since she knew her father had guns.

Someone took that as me "following" and harassing them about their stance on being allowed to shoot people for knocking on their front door due to "normal operating hours"

You said being cautious is better, and that member comes up with such a way off-base reaction?
Oi, the internet well of nuts will never dry.

im actually just wondering what the ignore list is for :funny: i mean aint it faster to just scroll past than go click click clickity click

... also what if you disagree with a person on a thread but they say something and you actually agree with their opinion? wouldnt that have been a missed opportunity to realize that the bloke you're annoyed with may not be so annoying after all?

anyway thats just me..... and i've never been the squeamish sort :awesome:

The only people I have on ignore are Tobias and sf2, because all they do is troll the Superman forums for a few days and then disappear for months.

The only, ONLY person I have put on there is CardinalRed because I got tired of seeing his thread being bumped like crazy. Once he was gone, I took him off. I have been very tempted to put zryson, Tobias, sf2, and Kevin Smith on there, but the mods took care of it or they went into hibernation.

If we all put Sawyer on ignore, half the community threads would disappear.

As far as I 'm concerned I don't put people on ignore because they disagree with me on a topic or are a bit annoying.
The only user on my ignore list is there because he was so thin skinned ( like cig paper thin ) and sure of himself that it was pointless to bother with him.

Depends on the person in question. For example if a person who hates MOS is constantly in the MOS section saying how bad he thought it was and insulting anyone who liked it then why expect him to not be him, to not post in the manner he always does?

Only people I have put on ignore are ones that continually contrary and aggressive or rude. It's a 99% certainty they'd post something like that every time

If it's just a difference of opinion every now and then or amicable negativity then I wouldn't find that reason enough to use the function. But some people you just don't want to read.

Ignore function is for skipping the haters.

fixed

I considered using it in a different lifetime many moons ago, on two occasions:

One was when there was a poster who was hysterically racist, yet was given a lot of room by the mods to continue disrupting a certain subforum. At the apex of his madness, he got himself permabanned, and it was no longer necessary to put him on my ignore list.

The second time was when another poster insisted on saying abusive things not only about a particular superheroine, but also about all of her fans on the forum. He was unapologetically offensive, but I had sort of begun to drift away from the community to begin with, so I didn't bother with the ignore function.

I tend to use it a lot more in chatrooms than on message boards. As others have said above, it's far easier to just scroll down if you see a post from a person you're not particularly fond of.

I'd also say the ignore list helps prevent me from responding to certain posters in a way that could get me infractions or banned.

That's how I view people my friend.

The ignore list is good, but not as good as the function I have on another forum where you don't see the poster at all. I usually add people who either troll, are stubborn to no extent or just say something that pisses me off/doesn't sit right. Sometimes its just easier to not have to put up with someone's crap on the net.

I tried putting the mods on my ignore list, but the site wouldn't let me ;)

I love it when posters announce that they are putting someone on ignore. Oh man, you sure showed them.

I recently put a few people on ignore from the BVS section of the boards recently, and its the first time I've had to do so in 12 years on the hype.

I never realized Zryson was a troll because he came off as being calmer than some of the people posting there, even if I never cared for half the things he talked about.

Yup, after some drunken rant about how Batfans were ruining the BvS boards or something.

In my entire 10 years here, I have only put 3 people on ignore, and only 1 is still a current member, but even then, I don't think of it as "ignoring," I call it "retconning."
