Pet Sematary Remake in the works

I LOVE the casting of John Lithgow as Jud. Fantastic casting.

I don't mind the casting of Jason Clarke as Louis but to be honest, I think he is too old for the role. I get he can play someone younger but still...

I was hoping for someone around mid 30s for Louis. I reread the novel last year and I had someone like Chris Evans, John Krasinski or Charlie Hunnam in my head for Louis.

The Lithgow casting has me intrigued now. Good choice.

There’s a documentary on Amazon Prime now called “Unearthed and Untold”, that’s all about the making of the original movie. It’s definitely fan made, they managed to get nearly everyone involved with the film with the exception of Stephen King, but it’s pretty cool. The crew who made it are now working on a new documentary about the making of the IT miniseries.

Jeff Buhler About Pet Sematary

Dead Central talked to script writer Jeff Buhler about the new Pet Sematary.

When we first started our conversations, Dennis and Kevin and I really connected around the idea of bringing the story back to the source material, to find a modern telling of the book that really spoke to some of the big scenes and big moments that Stephen King had originally written.

All of that feels so poignant and universal. It’s our desire to really reconnect to those elements of the story and bring them into a world that speaks to the modern horror audience.”

There may be Victor, there may be some Zelda, and there will definitely be some Louis and Rachel and Gage and Ellie. I will say this, if you love the book, you’ll love this movie. (Directors) Dennis and Kevin are both such visionaries in terms of how they’ve approached it, from not only a horror standpoint but also a character standpoint.

What worries me a bit is that he says they are doing a modern version of the story. Makes me think that they have changed it a bit to make it more appealing to today’s moviegoers (i.e. a younger audience). Might just be me but I guess we’ll see on April 19, 2019 when the movie is set to premier.

When I hear "modern", I think they simply mean updating it to 2018/2019. Cell phones, internet, etc. Even with that, the story won't't change much.

Yeah, with Pet Sematary the book and the film take place in the '80s but that's simply because that's when they were made. There's nothing in there to make it married to a specific time period.

Having technology really won't mean **** when you're dealing with what's happening in this story. Calling someone won't mater.

Amy Seimetz to Co-Star With Jason Clarke in Reboot
Amy Seimetz is in talks to join Jason Clarke in Paramount’s reboot of the Stephen King classic “Pet Sematary,” sources tell Variety.

Seimetz will play the mother of the child who gets caught up in the pet graveyard behind the house.
John Lithgow is on board to play the role made famous by Fred Gwynne in the 1989 original.

“Starry Eyes” co-directors Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer will helm.

Following the success of “It,” studios have been ramping up development on all King properties, and Paramount saw this as a perfect opportunity to push this film on the fast track. The film is currently set to bow on Aug. 19, 2019.

While still staying busy on the acting front with the likes of “Alien Covenant”, “Lean on Pete”, and “Stranger Things,” Seimetz has spent a lot her time honing her skills behind the camera. She is the co-creator of Starz series “The Girlfriend Experience,” where she written and directed several episodes. She also recently helmed a couple episodes for “Atlanta: Robbin Season.”

I wonder if they will use the same breed of cat as the original Church?

Zelda always creeps the heck out of me lol

Zelda scared the **** out of me so much as a kid I’d actually blocked it from memory until I saw the film a few years back. I remember I used to be afraid to walk past my friends parents bedroom on my way to the toilet after seeing it convinced Zelda was in there.

My worry with the new version is that they’ll just use CGI and it won’t be effective.

Yeah, it'll be CG more than likely. I don't know the girl but I doubt she'll wanna deal with all that makeup work.

In the 1989 version of
Pet Sematary
Andrew Hubatsek played Zelda, Rachel Creed's ill sister. She had spinal meningitis and the scene is unforgettable. In the 2019 version of the movie Alyssa Brooke Levine will play Zelda.

The genius behind the original Zelda casting was getting a guy to do it. Gave it that extra gaunt, haunting, off vibe. The girl they got this time is to pretty and healthy looking. But I'm sure they'll make it work somehow.

I always called her the twisted lady as a kid. Seriously one of the scariest things ever haha

Giant nopeburger to that cat.

Cats are Satan's children regardless.

I was hoping they would have kept the breed of cat from the original that was what I liked he looked so cute before he died and looked pure evil when he came back especially with those glowy eyes they used in shots.
