Marvel Films Phase Five

LoL no i wasn't. I was actually excited for Guardians. Its not just me who has concerns with Phase 4. Many fans here have already pointed out how Phase 4 is lacking that big Avengers esq movie. Thats why it was so important that a new Sony/Disney deal was made. Even Disney knew that without Spider-Man in the phase 4 lineup it looked weak. Having Spider-Man back hypes up everything else.

I'm still not ruling out us seeing the Siege of New Asgard in Thor:Love And Thunder and that being just as big an ensemble movie as Civil War

While Comic Con had phase 4 end w/Love and Thunder wasn't 2022 later added as being part of Phase 4?

Gotta say, I'm surprised Marvel's going ahead w/Ant Man but a good movie IMO. The whole Quantum Realm idea/depiction is I think the most creative and interesting ideas implemented in an MCU film so far. A teenage Hope will return and Black Knight will more than likely guest star and who knows the FF may be introduced as well at the end I'll bet.

Did you seriously think the Ant-Man movies was gonna end with 2 films, especially Ant Man already appeared in an Avengers movie. It was just not realistic that they wouldn't move forward with an Ant-Man 3.

I didnt completely rule it out but sheer amount of films coming out, new Fox properties, Peyton Reed's interest in FF, Paul Rudd's comments in June, actors aging bit if superlong wait, and no mention through the summer with all the other amnouncements made no Antman3 increasingly likely.

There were a lot of different directions swirling about behind the scenes I'll bet. The correct peices fell into place and enough time went by to give this film a nod I was pleasantly surprised to see. I do think it gives enough time for Marvel to see how their films perform next year before production begins so Summer 2022 is a slot that works.

4 films in 2021 was a surprise post Sony agreement as well with all the newer franchises in a row and Disney+ shows. It's good to see Marvel's committed towards cementing this Antman IP.

Ant-Man 3 is one of many future films coming out and there's still no shortage of mcu movies coming out in the future that they couldn't give it a room. It was a no brainer that it was gonna be greenlit. Ant-Man might not have gotten giANT numbers at the box office but Ant-Man didn't have an appearance in an Avengers movie before his two solo films. And now, he has now an Avengers movie exposure so as the Wasp.

Also, its 1 movie. If you were referring to Ant-Man 4 and 5, I would have agreed. Also Ant-Man 2 just came out last year, its still very recent. Also just compare that to the gap between Dr Strange and Dr. Strange 2.

I think some of the cast and crew are pleasantly surprised also though. Evangeline Lilly had some doubts last year and Paul Rudd suggested people expressing interest to get it going this past June pre-comic con. There was also news of Peyton Reed's FF from long ago and him vocalizing desire to do this fairly recently bringing it up so I think it was just a matter of Marvel Studio's balancing other things first and making some behind the scenes decisions before the necessary deals went through for an announcement to leak out.

The only character now that's been cutoff early as we all know of course is Hulk due to Universal's Distribution Rights so Marvel Studio's streak is still alive.

I won't be surprised if Yelena Belova appears as the new Black Widow working with Ross on the T-Bolts.

And... I hope Ross turns out to be a Skrull.

2021: Shang Chi/Doctor Strange/Spider Man/Thor
2022: Ant Man/Black Panther/Guardians/Blade
2023: Captain Marvel/Avengers/Fantastic Four/Eternals
2024: Shang Chi/Mutants/Doctor Strange/Nova

2021: Shang Chi/Doctor Strange/Spider Man/Thor

2024: Shang Chi/Mutants/Doctor Strange/Nova

Deadpool? We know that's in early development.

Also, I highly doubt they'll have two Dr. Strange movies three years apart.

Those 2023 new release dates has to be for X-Men, Fantastic Four and Blade.

there‘s no way, that Black Panther and Guardians will be released in the same year. They‘re the biggest MCU IPs right now and each of them will get the No. 1 slot in May

Eh. I always forget it because I don't want another Deadpool film.

But since you said it, if the character enters the mcu asap, then maybe in 2024 or 2023.

I'm guessing the line-up for the upcoming projects looks like this:

May 6, 2022 - Black Panther 2
July 22, 2022 - Ant-Man 3
October 7th, 2022, - Blade
February 17th, 2023, - Captain Marvel 2
May 5th, 2023, - Avengers 5
July 28th, 2023, - Guardians 3
November 3rd, 2023 - Nova or some other new IP

May 23 will have been 4 years since the last Avengers. Though Avengers is their most profitable franchise, I would think expectations have to be scaled way back for A5 since it most likely wont feature any of the original 6 except maybe Hawkeye and/or Bruce. They'll want some other decent films that year to offset the risk which is why I'm thinking what I'm thinking for '23.

IMHO the November '23 slot is the wildcard right now. Don't think you see X-Men or F4 fully debut until 2024 though I believe they could be long seeded before that. Also I hate seeing Guardians pushed that far out but July 2022 seems to soon. Hope we see some of them in Thor 4.

Also A5 gives them a lot of options to introduce new concepts to the MCU. I don't think they'll go straight to another Thanos sized threat.

I highly doubt they will release both an Avengers and a Guardians movies on the same year.

I highly doubt Avengers 5 is going to come out before Guardians 3.

Why not? We got a Spider-Man and Avengers movie this year.
different case. Spiderman is a solo. But as of right now, both Avengers and Guardians are the only heavyheight teams of Marvel, so I dont see Feige puting both on the same year.

I think its more likely to see Avengers and a "new" team in MCU like Fantastic Four.
neither I see 3 team movies on the same year, so we'll see how Feige puts all of this together.

Gunn's firing/re-hiring screwed up the timeline. They're going to want a new film for them ASAP. Especially the way End Game ended. He's on Suicide Squad until 2021. 2023 gives him 2 years to transition back to Marvel and get a film out. Could they put that in May as the event and put something else in July sure. But what?

Black Widow is probably a 1 and done. Shang Chi and Dr Strange would be only 2 years since their last film. Eternals, no idea if that'll be a franchise or just setup portions of a larger story. Spider-Man is on a 2 year cycle so SM4? Though I would think Sony would want to announce that. Hulk film? Rights are screwy. Hawkeye? Disney+. Also they only usually announce 1 new character a year. I was thinking that 1 would be cosmic so Nova, Surfer, or someone like that.

It's also going to be a little weird that Thor 4 is coming out before GotG3 since when we last saw Thor he was headed off with them.

With Gunn's Suicide Squad coming in 2021... no way does Guardians 3 show up in 2022. That's a 2023 movie for sure.
