Like the feel of the trailer. Not quite hyped yet, but that'll come when we get closer to the release. Love that Will is back, though I'm also confused about his new "look".

And seriously, what is up with Barbosa's outfit? He donned his normal clothes at the end of 'On Stranger Tides' and they look soooo much better than this.

a Must see Movie in May damn Disney will Rule the Boxoffice again

Jack has a much bigger role than the marketing is showing given recent events, but I think the approach for the marketing actually serves the movie better.

This looks like the Verbinski films where they were memorable imagery wise. It's new stuff, but it's not bland looking like the fourth film. This has imagination to it. I mean look at that ship.

Is it just me or does it feel like there's more interest in this than there was in POTC 4?

That chart doesn't necessarily mean interest. I guarantee a large number of those "game time conversations" were "Are they really making another Pirates of the Caribbean/Transformers/Wolverine movie?"

True, but I meant in general.

Take the YouTube views for example:

The most viewed POTC 4 trailer is at 10M views, while the first teaser for POTC 5 is at almost 19M views.

Also there's this...

May 26 POTC: Dead Men Tell No Tales
June 2 Wonder Woman
June 9 The Mummy
June 16 Cars 3

Not everyone is going to make +300M domestically.

The scene with the bird looks like it was filmed inside the studio with greenscreen. It looks like fake sun. I like in the first 3 movies how they filmed everything outside.

I'm gonna guess Salazar and his crew slipping Will's "guidance" to the afterlife is why Will looks a little barnacley. It might not quite be a dereliction of duty like with Davy Jones, so he's not all sea creaturelike.

Well I doubt Jones turned into squid-face all at once. It probably took time for him to completely transform. Same thing seems to be happening to Will.

I feel like Barbossa's going to try and negotiate his way out of Salazar killing him, possibly through the sheer audcacity of wearing his privateer clothes even though he's in a pirate ship with a friggin' skull and crossbones on the sales. Who knows? Maybe he calls for a parley, and argues that since he's got a magic ship and a few victories against Jack, Salazar would be served in using him as an ally.

Now, this thought did occur to me: of Salazar was tricked by Jack decades ago, was Barbossa the Black Pearl's first mate at the time?

Salazar was tricked by Jack in his teens (about 17 yo). Doubt Jack was Captain of the Pearl by that time.

Jones was captain of the Dutchman for centuries so his look is the result of hundreds of years of metamorphosis. Will has only been captain for 20 years, considering his son is now about 20.

I don't think the Johnny Cash song really *fit* the trailer, but it looked way more interesting than I gave it credit for.

Damn it, I'll probably see it now. :funny:

my bet is (if the reviews are good) 900m-1 billion
if they suck - 700-900mil (on fan base)

But I am sure it will be better than the 4th film.

If it gets good reviews, I wonder if it's gonna be able to surpass 300M stateside.

The only Pirates with good reviews is the 1st one.
